Truth Commission

Why not pattern this commission after the post-apartheid truth Commissions is South Africa? If anyone came forward, testified truthfully, they were pardoned, no matter how heinous their actions. This is the type of commission we need to address this most serious problem.

Seating Roland Burris

Joan, if the Democratic Party is to be the party of integrity, then when Mr. Burris receives the attestation of the Illinois Secretary of State, then it SHOULD seat him. To do otherwise would be to ignore established law and the Democrats would be no different than the Republicans. The rule of law should be followed, even if we don't like the guy!

Al Franken

has behaved like the gentleman he is through the entire recount mess. Coleman, also, has seemed to show his true colors, as the small, embittered, power-hungry wing-nut that he is. I only wish that I lived in Minnesota; I would be proud to have Al Franken as my senator.

Minnesotans have taken huge hits in the last two months in conservative chat rooms; each citizen from that state should look into a few of those chat rooms and see what conservatives around the country think of them.

Thank you Joe, for pointing out the simple truth, something that Bill-O and his cronies never seem to talk about.

Rick Sanorum is a jerk.

I can't believe the Inquirer would waste newsprint with this guys column. He hasn't come up with an original idea in his life!

The Convention Against Torture

was ratified by the United States in 1994 and has been ratified by over twenty (20) nations, which makes it effective. It also makes it the Supreme Law of the land under the U.S. Constitution. In 2002 the Bush administration voted against measures in the U.N. to implement punishments for its violations.

Such administration then proceeded to ignore U.S. law and torture people it said were 'terrorists'. However, none of the alleged 'terrorists' it has admitted it tortured has been brought to justice. I wonder why? Because no convictions could be obtained, because they tortured the individuals!

WE SHOULD BE ASHAMED! However, I don't think anyone in the present administration feels any emotion, except hate!
