Biological alarm in Washington

I'm glad you brought attention to this subject but you didn't answer an important question. Who are the groups who might have attacked the marchers on September 24th?

The logical perpetrators would be right wingers and or white supremacists. I don't think it makes any sense for al-qaeda to attack anti-war marchers. There are documented cases of white supremacist groups planning bio terror attacks, however. In May 2003 a plot was uncovered in Tyler, Texas. White supremacists had canisters of sodium cyanide, fake ID and an arsenal of weapons. I hope Salon follows up this article.

Original article: At home with David Brooks

Brooks is a hypocrite

If David Brooks really believed there was power in changing diapers and baking cookies he would be a stay at home dad.

Civil War Hangover

I wish the article had drawn a stronger parallel between the Hayes Tilden contest and Bush Gore. Bush is as much a fraud as Rutherfraud Hayes. In both cases a stolen election was used to disenfranchise millions and trample on the civil rights of Americans. In Bush's case it was used to trample on the rest of the world.

Hurrican Katrina

Ramos' review is the soggy rehash. It is glib to suggest that resettled evacuees are better off if they landed a job in another city instead of asking why their homes and places of employment haven't been rebuilt. The U.S. government has passed the $2 trillion mark in Iraq. If tax payers can finance a get rich quick scheme for Halliburton, why not pay to rehabilitate an American city that was destroyed in part because of government negligence? The federal government was responsible for maintaining the levee system but neglected to do so. I am shocked that a journalist from New Orleans would suck up to the ideology that destroyed his town.

What the hell happened that Salon has such a stupid article?

"The failure, the sad part of it, was that we weren't ready for it."

Who the hell is the "we" in this question? Roe v. Wade is at risk because John Kerry lost in 2004. Period. A Kerry administration would not nominate an Alito. There is no data showing that the public have changed their minds on abortion. Most Americans, regardless of personal opinion, want abortion to remain legal.

Abortion rights are supported by a wimpy, spineless political party that doesn't have a clue on how to win an election. Our rights are at risk for the same reason that Bush gets a pass on Iraq, or spying on individuals. There is no political opposition in America. That is why Roe is endangered.

Latino votes for Bush

It is not true that Bush got 40% of the Latino vote in 2004. Exit polls under counted the urban Latino vote and thus gave a scewed result.

Latinos voted for Kerry 68 percent to 31 percent.

Israeli Lobby

The U.S. is about to go to war against Iran because we have been told by the media and politicians that a nuclear Iran may attack Israel. We are never told that Israel has hundreds of nuclear warheads and that despite its threatening language Iran can't harm Israel. I don't really care how sensitive Jews are about discussion of the Israeli lobby. I'm getting sensitive about having a bulls eye on my head because of the actions of a country I'm not allowed to criticize. Walt and Mearsheimer have done a great service in telling the American people what no one else will.

Israeli lobby

Walt and Mearsheimer hit the nail on the head and everyone knows it. Sadly, the response to their paper makes it unlikely that anyone else will speak up. Who wants to be compared to David Duke? I applaud their courage but I cry for this country.

Israel is armed with nukes, but we are told that if Iran gets just one bomb Israel is in danger. At the very moment that this discussion should take place, intimidation silences us.

I guess I'll find solace in the theater. I'll go see that new play about Rachel Corrie. Oh, I forgot. I'll have to go to London if I want to do that.

It's Not Nice to Fool Mother Nature

Anyone with common sense should be skeptical of another effort by big pharma to treat something natural as if it were a disease. I for one am glad to hear that women are comfortable with their bodies and see no reason to make a radical change for which there will in all likelihood be negative side effects.

It is also very simple. There is nothing wrong with menstruating and most women have no problems dealing with it. There are safe over the counter drugs for cramps, and a variety of feminine hygiene products to suit any personal life style or preference issues. What is the big deal about having a period? There is a very big deal about stopping them altogether.

Anglicans need to divorce

The Anglican church only exists because Henry VIII wanted a divorce. What is the big deal about divorcing now? That denomination's liberals need to be vocal in their desire to break with their more conservative brethren. It is ridiculous to think that such divergent groups can work everything out.

BTW, I'm a Baptist, an enormous tent denomination. There are literally dozens of Baptist conferences, conventions and denominations, so I'm biased. I don't see why there can't be more than one group of Anglicans.

It is time to file for divorce.

Viagra? Don't be so sure.

Am I the only one who is skeptical that Rush actually had viagra? I will bet money that the little blue pill was actually vicodin, percocet or oxycontin. Viagra is legal, and if Bob Dole shills for it, even wingnuts can't say anything bad about it. My guess is that El Rushbo is still getting high on legal meds.
