  • Kick their Fundie A$$e$ to the Curb!

[Read the article: Beyond the Multiplex]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If I see you beating your child in a supermarket and make you stop, that means I must now raise your child for you? I think not.

This isn't a good analogy. If you, personally, prevent someone from beating a child, that is not a mandate from the state. The state has no responsibility. However, were it a mandate from the state, the parent could be brought before a judge in family court and their parental rights terminated. At which point the child may become a ward of the state, with tax payer dollars going to the child's care.

So, yes, it's entirely logical to expect tax dollars to go to the care of indigent children, in the case where all or most abortions are illegal.

The time has come for the fiscal conservatives to recognize the Religous Right for what it is: a liability to the Republican Party. Kick their fundie a$$e$ to the curb!

  • Fedex that Suitcase

[Read the article: "No Country for Old Men"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

And if you ever find a suitcase full of cash, the very first thing you do, always, is move the cash to a different container and ditch the suitcase where it'll never be retreived.

Next time I find a suitcase full of cash (or even half-full of cash) I'm removing the cash and sending the suitcase to Nome, Alaska by fedex.

  • The Government is Corrupt

[Read the article: AT&T, other telecoms, buy victory in lawsuits]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The telecoms are asserting they acted in good faith. But is one really acting in good faith when they know they are violating the law, but have received assurances they will not be held legally accountable, that, if necessary, legislation will be crafted specifically absolving them from legal accountability? This isn't good faith. This is the knowing nudge, wink, and nod of cronyism

Doesn't women being aroused by the body fluids of other women fly in the face

    I could make an off color comment here...but I won't...but I could...but I won't. Must. Resist. Temptation.

Seriously, this article squares with my own personal experience. I generally find women respond positively to me when I'm accompanied by one or more lactating females.

    "Me Want Food!"
  • *Spoiler Alert*

[Read the article: I Like to Watch]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I would be remiss in my snarky duties if I failed to mention that in the season finale of Pushing Daisies a frustrated Ned realizes he can receive a bj from his co-star, provided he wears a condom, as no direct contact would be involved, if skillfully performed. When Ned shares this revelation with his heretofore platonic girlfriend, much hilarity ensues, as it leads to a lengthy and convoluted discussion of erotic possibilities.

  • Heart of a Dying Nation

[Read the article: Is a new conservatism possible?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Will conservatism evolve into something that respects personal freedom and preserves traditional community values? No. That die is already cast. Our current economy is a massive Ponzi scheme. The coming energy crisis will result in a spectacular economic collapse. Reactionary conservative politics will continue its manipulation through fear and paranoia. And it will be successful. Skyrocketing oil prices will be blamed on Arabs bent on destroying our freedom. Shortages of other resources, such as food, water, and medical care, will be blamed on swarthy illegal immigrants. The religious right will declare that evil has befallen us due to homosexual unions and abortion. There will be a resurgence of rightwing reactionary politics, after a brief respite of Democratic rule. So, no, I don't believe American Conservatism will transform itself. Gary is ever the optimist, a glass is half full type of fellow, the crazy heart of a dying nation.

  • Mr. Marker says

[Read the article: Tips on how better to exploit the working poor]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

There is Nothing "Predatory" About Payday Loans

Agreed. There is nothing predatory about payday loans, that is, if one is morally vacuous enough to ignore the usurious interest rates and the fact the foundation of the business model rests squarely on the cynical exploitation of the desperation of working poor. Absolutely. Nothing to see here but simple honest salt-of-the-earth business folk doing the Lord’s work.

Coming up next: Astonishing new research indicates regulating payday loans will irreparably harm the working class, and, how the founders of the payday loan industry were motivated exclusively by the altruistic desire to help the less fortunate.

  • Flags n' Guns

[Read the article: What you missed while watching "Chad Vader"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"That's not a flag that I recognize so that I would hold up in my room." Romney has a room?

Probably the same room where he keeps Josh's guns.

  • The Loss of Life Angle

[Read the article: Corruption in Iraq: Where did they learn that?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

And spare me the "loss of life" angle. You don't care about the number of lives lost. It's the issue itself that honks you off.

The '"loss of life" angle,' as you so quaintly put it, is what separates the war criminals of the Bush regime from the merely corrupt politician, you ridiculous Limbaugh-radio-fan troll. To equate the atrocities of the Bush Administration with the trumped up scandals of the Clinton Administration is morally bankrupt. Stealing White House furniture, indeed. That was investigated. It never happened. Talk about preaching to the fundie wingnut choir.

  • The Dung Heap

[Read the article: The agenda of our pro-war pundit class]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The polls make it clear. Americans disapprove of George W. Bush, the Iraq War, current economic trends, and the Republican Party in general. It's difficult to pile sh*t much higher than that. It tends to collapse of its own weight.

Only a vacuous fool like Brooks would claim to see a pony under this pile of steaming dung.

  • Viagra

[Read the article: Viagra for women?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

A "Viagra-like" drug for women called LibiGel...

Viagra (Sildenafil citrate) is a medication that facilitates vasodilation of the corpus cavernosum. I'm going to go out on a medical scientific limb here and suggest Libigel is probably not a "Viagra-like" drug, nor a Viagra equivalent.
