Some of you remind me far too much of my ex-sister-in-law, who insisted on voting for Ralph Nader over Al Gore. She hated Bush, but she didn't like the political system so she felt that voting for Nader would send a signal to end politics as usual. She felt, like too many others, that there was no difference between the two parties.

Let's be honest here... there is a huge difference between what an Al Gore administration would have been, and what a GWB administration turned out to be.

I know that there will no appeasing some people but we seem to have far too many people on this board who would rather be right than win. That was the mentality my relative had in 2000 - she all but admitted that she would rather see Bush in the White House than accept the realities of politics. If I acted like that, I would surely dig in my heels and insist that I'd rather see McCain win because the candidate I wanted at the top of the Democratic ticket didn't win the nomination. I would be as foolish and short-sighted as others were in 2000.

Am I sad that Clinton didn't win? Certainly. Will I support Obama and vote for him? Definately. Are either of them perfect? Not by a long shot. But I've been around the block just enough times to know that sometimes you have to accept a less-than-perfect candidate in order to get the majority of what you want out of the process.

It's time for a bit more pragmatism, folks. The pundits like to say that Democrats fall in love while Republicans fall in line. Our passion sometimes gets the better of us. We need to get our feet on the ground and focus on what really is going to matter in November. What is going to mean more - holding onto anger overy anything you think Hillary Clinton might have said, inplied or done against Obama or joining with those who might have disagreed with your choice to make sure that we take the White House back?

The democratic process is not a system that rewards idealism. Very often, we do need to "settle" and right now we must settle our differences. Starting now we are on a new page and need to focus on November, not rehashing over and over again what happened in the primaries.
