Et tu Hillary?
[Read the article: How our seedy, corrupt Washington establishment operates]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]After watching Why We Fight last night, and Sicko last month in which DINOS like Hillary are sailing cruise ships down this river of sleaze, forming a cornerstone of the global corporate/PR-government official Beltway insider cabal that truly runs our country, and now Greenwald's comments about the Clintons doing the same thing, then why the hell is she leading in the polls among people who say they want change? And why would I, as someone who DOES want change, vote for her in the general election? This is not off-topic because she is just another side of the same rotten apple. I didn't vote for Nader but if Hillary is the nominee I just don't see the point. Because just maybe she might get to appoint a Supreme Court nominee who won't overturn Roe- V. Wade? Not enough of a reason to vote for someone who will continue shoveling it to our bloated military-industrial complex, big health and pharma, and other piggies feeding at the government trough while talking about feeling our pain.

Attorney enabler
[Read the article: Gonzales' shame]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Gonzales was no more an Attorney General than Brownie was an emergency management professional. His chief contribution was as an enabler to our dry drunk POTUS, operating in whatever capacity best served Bush's psychologically warped personal/political agendas. His farewell scene is just more - as if it were needed - evidence of how pathetic those who prop up Bush's fragile ego really are. Forget the "alcoholic father" and "first Hispanic whatever" trappings; this Fredo is just a set-up guy, important only as a sycophant and gopher for the world's smallest person.

but is he wrong?
[Read the article: John Edwards turns on his fellow Democrats]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]As the MSM continues to paint Edwards in a way that fits its self-serving narrative, one would hope that sites like Salon would provide a deeper context. Unfortunately, Edwards is having to battle the refs and the other players because - whether you think it is self-serving or not - his points are dead on and therefore he cannot, in Glenn Greenwald's term, be considered Serious by the Beltway elites. We have to get rid of the corporate puppeteers, not exchange one group of puppets for another, if we truly want change. Do any of you Hillary supporters TRULY think she will change anything as far as health care, the military-industrial power structure, or any other of the now systemic foundations of our corporate-ruled government? Edwards might not be able to either, but at least he would try. Hillary would say she feels our pain, but continue to collude with and serve those who are causing it.

"they" means thee and me too
[Read the article: The real lessons of 9/11]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Excellent analysis. I would only add that the "they" for the neocons crazies not only includes Arabs and Muslims who are worthy of indiscriminate destruction but also thee and me, Gary, and anyone else who is part of the "other" for these people - meaning anyone not toeing their party line. Their very existence is defined by the classic in-group/out-group paradigm. They have no real creed other than that. Oliver North wanted to build concentration camps for anti-war protestors during the Reagan administration; you think Coulter and the AEI crowd wouldn't do the same, or worse, if they thought they could get away with it?

caught in the spin cycle
[Read the article: The endless, meaningless blather from the Washington establishment]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I think the years of amoral spin have finally caught up with the neo-cons. GG is right, they don't have a leg to stand on, but rather than join in a dialogue based on some sort of consensual reality, they are trapped in a spin cycle based on years and years of deceiving and obfuscating in the name of "our side is right." They would rather make no sense and destroy lives than have the "other side" be proven right.

Bush ratf***king?
[Read the article: The week so far]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I was in an investigative journalism class that began looking into Bush's work on that 72 Senate campaign in Alabama. There were suggestions that he, like Rove, Segretti, and other young Repub ratf**kers of that time, was engaging in dirty tricks. Unfortunately many of the principals are dead and others won't talk about it.

Revelations, chapter 1, verse 238
[Read the article: The latest revelations of lawbreaking, torture and extremism ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]These words GG wrote pretty much sum up every facet of life in America circa 2007: "the more they are revealed, and the more we do nothing about them, the more they become our own." True not just for Bush administration crimes, but across the board for our civic, economic, societal and cultural lives. If Hillary is nominated and Milquetoast Reid and punked-by-a-cheerleader-on-The View Pelosi are back as "leaders" of the "opposition" party, really what is the point? Chalmers Johnson is right - we have crossed the Rubicon and the only optimistic thing I can pull out of it is that maybe the American Empire will come crashing down sooner than later thanks in no small part to the enablers in the Democratic Party and the press.

keep hammerin' away
[Read the article: A nation of Rich Lowrys]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Greenwald slams the hammer down once again on another of these chickenhawk bastards. Greenwald is the one indispensable writer on the Web today.

limit the posts
[Read the article: The most interesting debate yet]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This has probably been discussed before but would it be possible to limit posts to one per person on an article? I don't want Hillary to win the nomination but enough with Hitlerly already.
BTW, as a former journalist, I think Joan and Salon do a fine job editing.
