  • When the parody is more credible than the parodied ...

It's really not worth debating another fact-challenged (the Obama campaign didn't send out an email until there were thousands of Web responses to her comment) and ethics-challenged (Hillary said this four times but it's just an "unfortunate' slip of the tongue for the always-forgiving-to-Hillary-but always-blaming-Obama Walsh) piece of crap from the Joke. All that needs to be said about this expected bit of blame-Obama-for-Hillary's-pathology tripe is that it's a telling example of what happens when a formerly great site descends to the point where it's not only sadly predictable but it's also become an unfunny parody. For a truly insightful look at what makes Joan a Joke (and unfortunately the site she has brought down with her), go to http://salonparody.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

As a feminist friend of mine said Saturday, Hillary (and blind apologists like Walsh) have set feminism back 20 years or more.

  • Hillary, Joan set feminism back 20 years

With their constant playing of the victim card .. for Hillary it's a crude political tactic, for Joan it's just pure emotion - which is totally unprofessional for someone who is supposed to be an editor. Joan's posts are not based on fact - like Hillary she takes whatever is convenient and overlooks anything that doesn't play into the narrative she has going on in her head (like the fact that people like Olbermann weren't criticizing Clinton for wanting Obama to be killed but for bringing up the topic in the first place). But facts don't matter to her now. Walsh is operating on pure emotion, defending her sister in arms at all costs, raking Obama at every chance, and lying about it to herself and her readers in the process. She and Hillary are setting back the cause of having a female President by 20 years because they reinforce the stereotype of women as being victims and too emotional for high office. I write this for any rational person left at Salon or others sitting on the fence, knowing that Walsh has tuned out any criticism of Clinton or herself.

  • @gabbyone doesn't represent Illinois voters

I too live in Illinois (this is taking you at your word for what you say about working for him) and your Obama experience and your charges are so out of touch with the prevailing thinking here I don't want outsiders to get a wrong impression. First, his "connections to lowlife Chicago types are a mile long" charge is so ridiculous it makes your credibility zero. The only thing person you are talking about is Rezko and that trial is now in the jury stage with nothing about Obama coming out of it; in addition the Trib has been the leading investigator on this story and it has endorsed him twice for Senator and again for President, after doing its investigation and after Obama sat down with them for an ask anything you want interview earlier this year. As to what people here think about Obama, he carried this state in the primary by a much bigger number than HRC did New York and he will do so again in the general to the point of taking several new Democratic Congress people with him. He has been known here for a decade and respected by colleagues at the Chicago Law School and in the Senate. America is being offered the chance to elect an articulate, intelligent, compassionate, inspiring, and wise man for President. I hope some who say they are Democrats don't screw that up with ignorance about who he is or vindictiveness because their candidate lost.

  • OMG, Salon reporting a candidate OTHER than Obama has problems?

[Read the article: John McCain's Arab-American problem]

Of course Obama getting the Arab-American vote could also present a problem. Never fear, Walsh will counter with a post on Obama's Arab-American "problem' soon enough.

  • Joan: "Let me tell yooouuu something Joe"

...and then Walsh goes on to say that "demonizing the Clintons" will divide the party not the actions of the Clintons themselves. The only way that quote from Walsh on hardball last night to Joe Madison can be described is ... bitchy. Again, Walsh and Hillary are setting back feminism 20 years by reinforcing stereotypes about women - Hill with her faux victimhood and Walsh with her irrational, emotional support of same. There are many truly talented and qualified female elected leaders and journalists - how sad that Hillary is such a poor example of the former and Walsh such a sorry example of the latter.

  • @gabby .. more hazy smears, nothing factual

You really are factually challenged so I can only guess you, like Walsh, are operating on emotion; I prefer to choose a President based on fact. Simply stringing names together like Rezko, Ayers, does not prove anything (other than that you are lazy) in trying to support your "connections to lowlife" point that Obama is somehow dirty. Likewise mentioning the name of a female elected official who supported Hillary shows what exactly? From your comments, your biggest complaint with Obama seems to be that he said he wouldn't run, then did - like no politician has ever done that before. Jeez, get real. Or could a more likely explanation for your hatred be that he chose to run against the anointed one and beat her - now you are going to take your vote elsewhere, hurting millions of women in the process. Ah well, like Hillary, it all seems to be about you.
