I have never listen to Imus. My only exposure to him has been this firing event. I agree with other letter writers who have stated that the most disturbing part of his slur was that he picked on a group of young women for no obvious reason other than he thought they were unattractive. This reminds me of Rush when he held up a photo of a very young Chelsea Clinton and called her a dog.
What is wrong with these old men that they have to pick on young girls?
In both cases Imus and Rush allowed us all to see into their characters, perhaps unwittingly, and no amount of appologizing can make one forget the ugliness that lurks where their hearts should be.
I'm glad Imus got fired. Just like I am glad Rush's TV show was cancelled.
I am sure Mr. Bush will never resign and will continue to protect all of those in his "pack."
If he had to face any opponent alone he would crumble and give up his arguement in a minute. He might even join the otherside.
He is a classic bully and bullies need their entourage to give them power, and in the case of our President his words.
I don't even think he would be a Christian if it was not the most popular religion in the US.
I can totally see Bush as a spoiled Roman rock thrower.
No way would he have joined an unpopular Jesus preaching peace.
and lame is not a complex adjective.
We Democrats tend to look at both sides of an issue and are loathe to be labeled hypocrite. So while we may hate, our hate is not blind hate.
In a two party system (for the sake of debate) we are the party for all citizens. We do not exclude based on religiosity, accent, skin color, gender, sexual identification, level of education, or income. This makes it very difficult to have one or two simple slogans to rally around during elections. Not having a slick battle logo might be misinterpreted as being lame.
Thanks to the last Bush Administration, simplistic thinking and rash action have gone out of vogue. Smart is In! And this thoughtful crouch, is at least as good a reason to vote Democratic as any I have heard.
but is it possible that a majority of Democratic poll voters are responding to their dislike of the way the Republicans in Congress are behaving?
I am Democratic and I think that most Democrats in Congress are doing their best with a rats nest of problems, created in my view, by short sighted Republicans.
Could the Poll question be confusing or the results misleading?
Glad you got rid of the skinny baby jeans.
I had two boys before my baby girl and she gets quite a few hand me down jeans from her brothers. Thankfully many companies are making jeans with adjustable elastic waistbands. The elastic can be pull tight or let out and then secured with inside buttons.
Thanks for sharing your story. We moms are not perfect but most of the time we eventually get it right!
I am a woman and all things being equal with respect to ability I will always support the woman. I might be a bit sexist, but what are you gonna' do?
I think one thing that most political savvy pundits and reporters will never say about why Hillary is popular, is that deep down in some Democrat's hearts we are still PO'ed at the shameful way President Clinton was beat up by the media and we want a little payback. What better way to get back at the right wing loons than by electing their arch-enemy Hillary! I know I sound petty and childish but sometimes being bad feels so good.
Of course Hillary is pro-choice, not a religious nut, believes in evolution and, for the most part, has an acceptable past voting record these qualities make me comfortable electing her President.
I thought golf carts were fully battery powered. Am I wrong?
for some kind of scoop.
I am very tired of hearing the croc tears shed for this wonderful musician.
I am 38 and this is the first time I have been moved by a female singer since the 80's.
The Disney cotton candy fluff that clogs the radio is the reason record sales are as low as they are. The public no longer wants to buy the perfect "Pop" princesses tales, of lost love, or lost work woes.
Thank goodness for Amy Winehouse. She makes real music. Yes it does break our heart, but it also moves us along and out of pre-teen stupor.
I am sure she is.
Bless her heart,
She moves this 38 year old.
I had become brittle and cold to any new artist.
I am tired of hearing about hollywood models struggling to find love. Music can be sold to the masses up to a point. Brittney, Christina, Beyonce, etc... beautiful voices, but we old broads want feeling behind the song. And you "Disney" can not manufacture that! Amy is an artist, who are we to judge an artist?
that bitch can sing!!!!!!!
Whenever I get angry about the 2000 election, I remember that Lieberman was Gore's running mate. Ugh! Lieberman as a Democratic Vice Presidential candidate? That guy is one strange political bed fellow.
Ahhhh... yes, peace, damn it, give me peace!
This article was just not good.
Would be a great replacement for Mr. Russert on Meet the Press.
Choose to support the working poor or the Washington elite. Really, please decide. Life ain't easy, but you can't be a union supporter and a insider washington elite. Just ain't possible.
It is bumbling to write about nothing, "Obama and Clinton's choreographed love fest in Unity..." Just stop the headline at least. If you feel what you are reporting is news, then site it as such and leave off the silly headline. Have some respect for this election and for your job.
really?! Wow!! Phfth!
