You forgot the most important thing

Great job, Heather, but, you left off one of the most important way tv helps improve our lives. One can watch The West Wing or Commander in Chief and pretend for a short while that Dubya is in prison, at his ranch or anywhere but in the Oval Office.

I thought it was good

As non Christians, we weren't much attracted to this show, until we saw the outcry last week about the show being pulled by some NBC affiliates. So, my husband and I decided to tune in. We didn't expect to like it, but, were curious about the fuss. Surprise, we really thought it was good. Very funny. As other comments have mentioned, it seemed over the top in the Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman/Desperate Housewives vein. Aidan Quinn was great.

Do we think this is representative of all Christians or all Episcipalions? Of course not. But, it is what it is - a funny tv show we hope stays on a while. As some one else mentioned, it has been a while since there was anything good on Friday's.

MS vs TD

I watched every episode of Martha Stewart's Apprentice and really enjoyed it. I have also watched every episode of every season of Donald Trump's Apprentice. For a time, I enjoyed it as well.

I do have some thoughts on this whole thing. NBC really messed up, in my opinion on MSA - putting it on Wednesday night up against Lost was a stupid decision. As was having a leadin of the show with Benjamin Bratt - can't recall the name as I watched part of the first episode and disliked it. Even Benjamin Bratt couldn't keep me watching. They should have put Martha's show on Monday or Tuesday. They could have tried different nights - with ample notice of where they were moving it two. I also think it was hard to have two similiar shows two nights in a row - confusing a bit on the contestants,my husband said he needed notes. But, having said that, I really liked the Martha Stewart version better. Because she was nice. My goodness, there is so much negativity, it was, well, nice to watch a pleasant show.

I will not be watching the Trump version that is starting next week. First, I was angry over the ending of the last season. If he liked both, he could have just made it a tie. And, it really seemed like he had a role in screwing up Rebecca's final task. I was left with such a horrible feeling after the final show. I actually spent some time that night online checking out the various forums and was releaved to learn that I was not alone in how I felt. However, I had almost decided to just be over that issue and watch the new one, but, Trump's nastiness to Martha is just the last straw. What a jerk. Maybe the book about him is correct.

And, note to Trump - you against Martha on daytime? Not a friggin chance.

Happy Birthday, Ms. Cleary!

I loved your books when I was a child and right at this moment my 8 1/2 year old daughter is tearing thru them. Four more came yesterday from Amazon and she has devoured two already. They finally have Ramona the Brave back in stock and it should be here tomorrow. That makes the final Ramona book and she has two more Henry books to finish and then on to the rest. She spent this afternoon during a break from reading working on her Wish List to list all the Beverly Cleary books she doesn't have.

I watch her reading and just love to see the joy on her face. I envy her first reading of these books I loved so much. We had to use the library the vast majority of the time when I was a child and I am happy she can own them. I always hated to have to give books back. My daughter is happily planning on rereading them all again in order when she is through with them all the first time.

And we have borrowed the books on tape from the library - Stockard Channing does such a wonderful job on the Ramona Books and Neal Patrick Harris is brilliant on the Henry Huggins books. We both love hearing the stories told by such great story tellers. And we have had just wonderful discussions of the books, of the references to all the things that were once commonplace but unfamiliar to a child of 2006.

Thanks for giving you books and characters to us.
