  • Lighten Up!

[Read the article: Does a 6-year-old need 25 birthday presents?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I have 4 yr old twins. Due to the nature of our social/school lives, we have a lot of friends. We never have less than 25 invitees to parties. Yes my kids get a lot of toys...so what?? We let them keep some for right away. Some get put away for a rainy day, and some are put in the re-gifting closet or given to charities (if they do not suit my kids at all). My kids deserve a "special day" And they will help their friends enjoy their own special days. In many ways I am an anti-consumer, anti-media, whatever, but those are MY issues. I don't expose the kids to much media, so they are not very want-y in the first place. They are entitled to a sugar and toy filled birthday. Its not every day.

  • Bestiality

[Read the article: Beyond the Multiplex]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The topic of bestiality makes me uncomfortable and I do not approve of what these men where doing. Animals will perform sexually, due to strong instinct, when set up with the right stimulus. I feel that its an absolutely inapropriate way to use animals. It also creates a danger to the animals and to other humans in contact with the animals later in life. If an animal is conditioned to perform this way, it could be triggered inadvertantly, resulting in harm to a human, and certain euthanasia for the animal. Those men need to go see a shrink, take medication, whatever, just leave innocents (the animals) out of their sex lives.

  • So very wrong!

[Read the article: Who pays for an unwanted twin?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I am a mother of 6 yr old twins via in-vitro, so I have been thru it. That said; what the heck is wrong with these women!

It would be very unusual for a doctor to put only one blastocyst back, as often they don't implant. Would the women be then suing for lack of conception? I get that they requested only one, are they unaware that a single can split, and that they might have had twins anyway? Yes twins are tough, get over it. Children in general change your relationship, they take a lot of time and energy. Thats what you signed up for. One child with special needs could have the same kind of effect. They should get a grip, enjoy their healthy girls and get on with it.

  • I love these cars

[Read the article: The Smart car is coming]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I saw them years ago in France and immediatly thought of how great they would be for people in cities like San Francisco. They would dramatically ease the parking burden in areas like the Haight and around Golden Gate Park. They are a perfect runabout for inner city dwellers.

  • To Froggy

[Read the article: I get grossed out when I hear, "I'm a mom!"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Thank you so much for summing it all up beautifully. I thought that my life and career would continue with only minor variants, until my twins actually arrived. When they were three I began to surface, and now that they are six and in first grade, I kind of have some space for me back. I began getting into my own hobby when they were about 4 1/2, but it was limited. Identifying myself as a mom, (which I don't always do) or as a house-wife, isn't ego boosting, but it is short and consise. Given the interruptions, its what I can manage. If you know me, you know there is more to me. If you don't, I don't have a lot of energy to care.

  • Depression

[Read the article: Help! I'm committing professional suicide!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Carey, This person sounds so much like my ex-husband. Eventually we found out that he had depression, that was responsive to medication. He did go off medication after a few years and has been doing well since. Its an avenue that this person may find worthwhile looking into. It got my ex's career back on track, and he is much happier.

  • Alternatives

[Read the article: Why Clinton voters will come back to the fold]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Or dear author we can write in Hillary. Obama never did anything to win me over. I have nothing against him, but never felt that he was the stronger candidate. Now he is kissing up to the Republicans over FISA. I don't owe my vote to Obama or to a party that allowed the most disgusting attacks against Hillary, over her gender and calling her racist, with NO answer, until the contest was over. How would she have done with a little party support instead of constant calls to withdraw?

  • Gratitude

[Read the article: I survived -- now how do I survive my survival?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I realize that you are in very tough times. It can help to start your day with gratitude. You have a well-paying job, one that allows you to work from home when you neeed to - huge gratitude. You have a family who cares - huge gratitude. You have time, time to decide what you want to do, how you want to change. Start with gratitude for being where you are now, take a deep breath, the future will come along, be ready and waiting.

  • My issue is Obama

[Read the article: Angry PUMAs on the prowl in Denver]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I was a Hillary supporter. I have been willing to look at Obama, but I am not happy with what I am seeing. I am not going to vote for him, just because the rest of the Dems are signing on. He voted FOR FISA, would limit mental health as a reason in reproductive choices, and wants to keep giving my tax dollars to the Faith-based office Bush started. Tell me how much change from Bush we are going to be seeing! Stop telling me get over it. I am over Hillary losing, but I am not voting for a candidate that I don't agree with. The Democratic party has given me the "better of bad choices" argument too often.

  • Then please return my tax dollars

    [Read the article: Freedom fighter]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

In California we pay a pretty hefty amount of taxes. Our state gets back about .70 on the dollar. Alaska (and many other red states) take a whole lot more than they pay. I believe Alaska takes about $2 for every dollar they pay. Go ahead, secede. With Alaskas governor brokering deals with big oil, and ignoring science in managing Alaskas natural resources, good luck.

  • Why

[Read the article: Fresh blood for the vampire]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Why is this woman still writing for Salon? She is self aggrandizing, and deluded. Her voice is not meaningful to women. She is a total drag.
