Original article: Why you should eat fat

@ DurianJoe

Try explaining morals, mercy and compassion to the rest of the omnivores on the planet and let us know what they say. Survival is not pretty and neither is your logic.

I see you have failed to acknowledge the fact that monkeys ate your quotes regarding meat consumption. Their meat consumption being quite well documented and common.

I also see you have regurgitated more failed quotes, like the nonsense that you can get all the B12 you need from rainwater. PLEASE, we are not that naive. The fact remains that if you are vegan, you will become B12 deficient without artificial supplements. Vegetarians don't have this problem if they are eating eggs and dairy, but vegans do.

Unlike animals, most, if not all, plants have no B12 requirement for any function, and therefore have no active mechanisms to produce or store B12. Many seaweeds have been shown to have B12 analogues. (Note: Most seaweeds are algae, which are technically not plants.) It is not clear whether the algae make the B12 analogues or whether they absorb the B12 analogues from their environment. Relying on a food that contains inactive B12 analogues can make a B12 deficiency even worse.

Btw, "the garden of eden" is a fairy tale. Please don't replace reality with fiction.

You mention of The Ladrone Islands, discovered by the Spaniards around 1620: Like I trust their observations to be correct? These are the same people who painted darker skinned people as white and notoriously misunderstood and abused everyone they came in contact with. Even if these natives didn't eat birds, I bet they ate eggs, insects or fish.

"The ethical, environmental, and even nutritional arguments are compelling enough to encourage millions of Americans to reduce, if not eliminate entirely, their consumption of animal products."

Bullshit. Modern mass agriculture is ruining our soil and in turn the run off is destroying our lakes, rivers and oceans. What's ethical about that? If you want to give good advice to people simply tell them to shop the perimeter of the supermarket, shop organic and stay out of the isles. Man-made food is the threat, not meat. Free range natural fed meats, eggs, wild caught fish, veggies, fruits, nuts...this is a balanced diet. This is what people have evolved to eat. It is 100% "ethical" to eat this diet. Anything less is malnutrition backed by misinformation and a false sense of morality.

Well, overpopulation is the root of almost every problem we face in modern times...from climate change, economics, viruses, natural resources. As lofty as we like to think of ourselves, we are behaving like bacteria on a global scale. Paleolithic could work for the whole world, but only if the standards changed for how meat is raised + population control. If everyone had just one or two kids we wouldn't be in this mess.

P.S.

I am not attacking you. Just the ideas.

There are so many holes in your cherry picked quotes that I almost don't know where to start.

Fact: Humans have been hunting and eating meat, well over 250,000 years. Those who eat a Paleolithic style diet have exceedingly good health.

Fact: Chimpanzees are our closest genetic cousin. THEY EAT MEAT. They have even been filmed eating rival members of other chimp groups.

Your gross generalizations of carnivores, like "Flesh-eating animals lap water with their tongue": Even a common dog or a bear are omnivores. They both lap water. There are also a great number of herbivores that lap water.

Another laughable passage: "and now that we have the environment under control".

Some more quotes: "were mainly peaceful vegetarians, rather like chimps or gorillas." What a crock of shit. Chimpanzees kill each other, eat each other, maim each other. They've been filmed eating small mammals, birds, etc.

"man only partakes of flesh foods after they have been camouflaged by cooking and...condiments" Another lie. Men all over the world who hunt like our ancestors partake of raw flesh, often immediately after the kill.

"As early as 1961, the Journal of the American Medical Association reported: "A vegetarian diet can prevent 97% of our coronary occlusions.""

Yup, nothing like 50 year old quotes about health, huh? This was around the same time you'd see TV ads with doctors endorsing certain brands of cigarettes.

"It is postulated that man cannot handle carnivorous foods like the carnivore. Herein may lie the basis for the high incidence of arteriosclerotic disease.""

Yet, the "perversion" has been the majority of the time modern humans have been on the planet and you're claiming agriculture isn't a perversion? Also: It is impossible to tell if ancient humans dies from arteriosclerotic disease, but we do know they lived 60+ years, so arteriosclerotic disease is rubbish too.

"The life of the typical zebra is usually placid, even in lion country"

How laughable. Do I need to provide extensive links of healthy, adult zebras being ripped to pieces?

However, I do agree with you that animal husbandry isn't natural, especially on a mass scale involving bad diet, poor conditions, etc.

"a vegan diet is the optimal diet for humanity"

Makes absolutely no sense. If you're going to make this a arguement about what is natural for the human body: It is impossible for a vegan to naturally get B12 without synthesized supplements. How natural is that?

Wow

So many long winded books and long winded letters. If one wants to be healthy, there is only one rule need to follow: DON'T EAT ANYTHING MAN-MADE.

Research the "Paleolithic diet". It is the only logical choice for those who value what is natural for the human body.
