whining
[Read the article: The latest revelations of lawbreaking, torture and extremism ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Is there anything that might convince you to stop whining so much? If so, what?

[Read the article: The latest revelations of lawbreaking, torture and extremism ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Glenn: you profile describes you as some kind of big time litigator. Instead of complaining about these "revelations of lawbreaking", why don't you file an injunction somewhere to get this so called lawbreaking stopped. Put down your pen and do something. Apparently nothing less than our country is at stake.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Really?
Tell that to the plaintiff(s) in Brown v. Board of Education.
But surely waterboarding is not the only rights violation at issue in the Republic, is it?
I would think your obtaining an injunction against the violations of rights set out in this blog would be your highest calling. Indeed, given your profile and opinions on these matters, I would think that you are uniquely qualified to lead the charge in this area.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"To expect and wait for the courts to fix the messes that we find ourselves in right now is naive and, frankly, lazy, if not cowardly."
If a top painter could paint a masterpiece that would change what he considered wrong with the world, would he not do it? Or would he lay down his brush and start drawing cartoons?
Glenn is a high profile litigator, well trained, and obviously well educated. He claims that our country is rife with violations of the law, and that we are all one jackboot away from fascism. The courts are the designated places for violations of the law in our system, are they not?
It seems to me Glenn should lay down his keyboard and take up his briefcase. A federal lawsuit only costs a couple of hundred dollars and an injunction hearing could be set within weeks of a filing.
I wouldn't call that lazy or cowardly. I would call that having the courage of one's rhetoric.

somewhat OT

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Glenn:
Do you believe there are any intellectually honest Right/Center Right bloggers? If so, who? I mean this as a serious question.

Brooks
[Read the article: Various items]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]His analysis is really a warmed over version of Thomas Sowell's thesis in a Conflict of Visions, which is summarized here: http://www.affbrainwash.com/genehealy/archives/020179.php. The kicker is that what started out as primarily a Constrained Vision rationale for the war (i.e., get rid of Saddam, get rid of WMD's, "self defense" etc.), ended up being converted into primarily an Unconstrained Vision rationale for the war (democracy in the Middle East, the domino effect, etc.).
Burkean/Constrained Vision Republicans are thus the most likely to be disenchanted by the war.
But why the need to accuse Brooks of intellectual dishonesty? Aren't reasonable people allowed to change their minds? Or change their views about the strengths of opinions previously held?
Or is the position of this blog that one cannot be intellectual honest and still support the war?

a bold idea
[Read the article: The remaining GOP base -- the 30%'ers and the Broder/Ignatius pundit]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Is it possible to write a post without (1) impugning somebody's integrity, (2) name calling, or (3) a citation to irrelevant polls?

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Attaboy. That's just the kind of high level analysis that will move Glenn's ideas and criticisms beyond the echo chamber. I'll bet you were quite pleased with your analysis just before you hit "publish my letter", weren't you?

[Read the article: The remaining GOP base -- the 30%'ers and the Broder/Ignatius pundit]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Glenn says in his update:
"Today, the Infallable One -- He Who May Not Be Questioned -- Gen. David G. Petraeus "has stepped up accusations that Iran was stoking violence in Iraq and said Tehran's ambassador to Baghdad was a member of the Revolutionary Guards Qods force" and "accuses the force, the elite unit of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, of inciting bloodshed in Iraq and of training and equipping militias who have attacked U.S. troops." Now that He has decreed this, we may not question it."
I was not aware that he could not be questioned. Indeed, I could swear he was questioned on the record just a few short weeks ago. So what is the point of say He May Not Be Questioned, when in fact he has been Questioned? In public. And on the record. Do words have meaning or not?
If the echo chamberees that inhabit this blog were ever curious as to why their arguments are routinely ignored, even by Democrats, a hint could be found in Glenn's update.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Surely you are attempting to be ironic?
According to Glenn, the Constitution is going down the tubes and your advice is to start The Blog That Saved The Republic??
I have an even better idea: let's all leave "attaboy" comments on the Lefty Big Blogs whenever we get a chance. It only takes 5 minutes or so each day, it won't interfere with anybody's workout schedule, and, by golly, it will make the Big Bloggers feel good about what they're doing.
The time saved in not setting up a brand new blog can be used instead to save the Republic.

[Read the article: A nation of Rich Lowrys]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Now he is "He Whose Credibility May Not Be Questioned?"
I suppose that is progress, considering just a few short days ago he was "He Who May Not Be Questioned."
Warfare is a dynamic thing. It is possible that to be winning a war that looked bleak just a few months earlier. Notwithstanding all of the personal insults directed at Lowry and Hanson, I didn't notice any facts put forth to dispute their analysis of current events.
And no, Glenn, beating them over the head with your thesaurus is not the same as setting forth facts.
