Do pit bulls fight fair?

In my very limited experience of dogs fighting, they are short and sharp. As soon as one dog submits, the other one stops. Quite chivalrous really.

From what I hear of pit bulls, they fight to kill, and if the other dog submits, it kills it anyway. Is this true? Have you ever seen a pit bull fight by the rules?

Bred in the bone

If the breeders of pit bulls have produced an animal as gentle and loveable as you apologists would have us believe, they have failed.

The Problem

I've read many pages now, and I don't think I have read any pit bull lover reject my assertion that ALL pit bulls, IF they attack, will ALWAYS fight to kill. Please correct me if I'm wrong here; there are a lot of pages.

I accept that the vast majority of pit bulls will never fight, are not aggressive, that even if they are aggressive to other animals are not aggressive to humans. But don't you think that a breed that always tries to kill its prey, should it ever attack, even if it is only other dogs, is purpose built to kill, and is almost impossible to stop once it starts, is a problem? Not even a teensy weensy problem?

Apparently you don't.

Redemption Song

Is there any crime so vile that an NFL player can't be forgiven? You Americans go weak at the knees over redeemed sinners. Fall to your knees, pray, tears, Oprah, therapy. Oh, I can see it now. Hallelujah.

Vick's bigger problem, once he does his time, is that he was going nowhere as a quarterback.

Spin, spin, spin

But it's just an anti pit bull conspiracy, karen35. You should know that.

Original article: Why bathroom sex is hot

Icky

Public toilet sex is my one problem with gays- it's repulsive. I'd consider it repulsive if heteros did it with strangers in public toilets.

Physiognomy

Bush is unfortunate in that he appears much dimmer than he really is. Kinda strange that he got anywhere, since politics is all about perception.

Which leads me to the real mystery of this to an outsider- why do you keep voting for him?

Tuesday, September 11, 2007 04:59 PM

He's one of us.

The thing that I found most baffling about his election wins, apart from the fact you somehow made Kerry's war service an issue, is that so many working class people think that Bush has an understanding, an empathy with their lives. Considering he is a blue blooded, silver spoon fed, idle fratboy tool of the ultra-rich, this is a remarkable example of false consciousness.

False consciousness

I don't mean it in the Marxian sense. I mean working class people thinking that Bush has an empathy with them, that he has their interests at heart, that his policies will be to their advantage, when there is no evidence for that belief, and a huge amount of evidence that he was bought and paid for by the rich.

I saw countless interviews with workers on the factory floor, before the last election, saying that they intended to vote for Bush because they thought he understood them and represented them, which I found very surprising.

Opportunity

She has very little musical talent, she is not a "musician", but she has a squillion dollars in the bank- she can remake her life in a thousand different ways.

It is strange seeing her being allowed to expose her limitations so artlessly, more to the point, unprofitably when her career had been a ruthlessly manipulative management of that small talent.

Ab Fab

I found Ab Fab quite disappointing and often unfunny, despite my best intentions- I really wanted it to be brilliant, but there are only brilliant moments. Compare it to Seinfeld, for example, and it is ludicrously slight. I suppose Camille hates Seinfeld?

The American History of Warmongering

Are there any American politicians who have been to war and are still warmongers?

I'd say leaving the decision to go to war entirely in the hands of those who have been shot at in war is a fairly sound policy. Not that it did the Germans any good.

Fail

"They crave a measure of economic stability and a strong sense of strategic security -- and Ahmadinejad's fortunes will continue to rise or fall based very much on the degree to which he is seen as serving those goals."

Ahmadinejad fails dismally by those measures and his pantomine posturings are counterproductive for Iran. How savvy is that?

An outsider's view

Can you even imagine a President Obama or a President Hilary Clinton? I hope I'm wrong but they both look unelectable to me, for fairly obvious reasons.

Bush Lawyer

For any Australians, who have seen Colonel Davis on tv dozens of times defending the indefensible, in his determined prosecution of the unfortunate David Hicks, the idea of him resigning on principle is unbelievable.

He is a lawyers' lawyer all right, and I mean that in the worst possible way.

Fantasyland

Let's see how much he makes. There is no way he's on the money the kid in KK's dream is pulling.

I can just imagine it. 'An 18 year old American kid straight out of high school, here on a years sightseeing; we are not worthy! Let's give him the biggest contract in the league'.

Easy- Rupert Murdoch. Even an American should get that one right.

Jeez I hate generalisations. 2000 anonymous, self-selecting respondents to an online survey is going to tell you something useful about 'Australian women'. Yeah, right.

If a suicide bomber went to the baseball would they be detected?

Technique

It's funny that two American women now have had certain victory ruined by one lousy hurdle, when the American men seem to specialise in hitting as many of them as they possibly can.

Roger Kingdom is the one I am particularly thinking of but he wasn't the only one.
