This is, unfortunately, a familiar refrain! Bill Clinton and Mark Penn speaking for Hillary and telling her what to do. Hopefully, this time she will not listen! She would be much better advised to lobby herself for the next opening on the Supreme Court--where she would not have to answer to or take direction from Bill or Mark ever again! Or...she could use her considerable energy to work towards being Senate Majority Leader--which might incur some opposition from senators who do not like her aggressive style.
I say it is time for Bill to retire! He is beginning to look pathetic. Perhaps if Hillary gets to the Supreme Court, he can be appointed to fill her Senate seat. That would be a double winner! I don't think proximity of the Clintons to Obama is in anybody's best interests, and this would fit the bill (so to speak)!

Of course, Barack Obama cannot perform miracles in Washington, D.C. (my home town), just as he could not in Chicago. I think the BIG POINT here is: would Hillary Clinton or John McCain offer a better model of leadership? Don't even answer that one!
Barack Obama, I think, is the real deal. He is a strong believer in community organization and has incredible skills! I know this because I have just finished working for him in Oregon, and his organization was far beyond anything I learned in social work graduate school!
Obama is human. But he is the best we have in our country right now. I am willing to take a chance on him!!!

In all seriousness, I think Hillary Clinton put the nail in her campaign coffin tonight with her comment about RFK's assassination! I do not think it was intentional, but it does show how tone deaf this woman is, and that will not fly in this election!
So let's stop worrying about whether Obama will be done in by the white racists in Appalachia! I think they need to get to know him and to see his tact and his charm--and his obvious caring! A good VP candidate (NOT Hillary) could help!
I hope you are giving up on Hillary, Joan. Her time is past and her legacy is in shreds. Perhaps in time she can, like Ted Kennedy before her, rebuild credibility and respect in the Senate--which is where she should stay!!!
I want to add my support to the suggestion that Salon have an "ignore" feature next to postings! There are several people, i.e., Shawn WM, who repeatedly write the same neo-con rants. It would be nice to be able to push an "ignore" button and move on--and especially nice if Salon would keep track of what postings get punched! It really becomes a waste of time to wade through some of the doo-doo, and Salon usually manages to be on a higher level!
Thank you.
Joan-
For somebody as smart as you, I don't think you pay enough attention to the unconscious mind! Have you ever heard of "Freudian slips?" The assassination in June quip is merely the latest! Of course, Hillary does not consciously wish harm to Obama, and I have never heard anyone suggest that. However, her choice of words often is very "unconsciously aggressive." I don't think she has a clue. And I am beginning to think you don't either!!!

I thought Harold Ickes was disrespectful, immature, posturing and, oh so narcissistic in his rant at the DNC Rules Commiteee today! Is this really the person Hillary Clinton wants to represent her? I cannot believe so. I just cannot wait to see the MacClintons GONE from this whole messy primary, so we can get on with electing Barack Obama--who is respectful, mature and has his narcissism in good perspective!
Let's get on with it. NOW!!!!
I am curious, Joan. You managed another article about Barack Obama "damning him with faint praise!" You mentioned the nasty, smarmy comments made by the WHITE priest about Hillary Clinton at Trinity Church, but no mention whatever of the Hillary "CountVote" harridans who insulted Obama throughout the proceedings of the DNC Rules Committee yesterday!
I know you are a fervent Hillary supporter, and I wonder if you plan, as so many CountVote women say they do, to vote for John McCain??? If you do decide to vote for Obama, will you please try to find something positive to say about him? He is, after all, a brilliant and visionary person, with a unique voice--quite unlike any of the other candidates! Plus, he has a strong, smart feminist wife! What a breath of fresh air!!!

Hillary Clinton, please go now!
It is time to take your final bow!
You can go by shoe, or go by cow,
But for our sakes, Hillary, please go now!!!
(With apologies to Dr. Seuss)
Please, will somebody do an intervention with "lolcait" and convince him/her that the Kool Aid he/she has been drinking so long and hard has damaged his/her ability to think and write clearly?? Maybe it is a genetic inability to ingest Kool Aid and keep a clear head; I do not want to pass judgement. But Lolcait needs detox--NOW--before any more inane letters are posted!
