[Read more letters about this article: Here]It is clear that Bush and his band of merry men operate outside the law, and will continue to do so given the chance. People look forward to January 2009, when a new president is supposed to be installed, and hope to get there before another world conflagration erupts.
The problem with this approach is twofold. The first assumption is that Bush will actually leave office. The second is that the next 'Leader' will not use all the prior precedents established during the Bush era, and will return to a nominally democratic system of governmnet.
Bush was able to solidify his power, by cashing in on the emotional turmoil after 911. With all the threats of further terrorist attacks, is it conceivable that another attack could be arranged by our own government in order to boost Bush's failing support, to try to unite the country, and failing that to be a pretext for the institution of martial law?
With the rule of law not applying to Bush or his entourage, it is essentially a system of undeclared martial law now.
The only way to loosen Bush's hold on power is to destroy the myth that put him in power in the first place. There is substantial evidence that 911 was an inside job. For novices, the best place to start is at wtc7.net. I suggest again that you check it out for yourself. Only those who wish to be blind to reality are likely not be persuaded.
For those who would dismiss the possibility of our government's involvement out of hand, remember the Northwoods Document, and the recent revelation that Bush suggested that a plane be painted with UN colors and flown over Iraq, in order for the Iraqis to shoot it down and thereby act as a pretext for an invasion.
If Bush is shown to have been complicit in the murder of almost 3000 souls on 911, his power will be destroyed. Look at the facts of 911 truth. Your comments would give a great deal of legitimacy to the 911 Truth movement.
I appreciate your insightful writing, and look forward to reading your blog. Another letter writer asked what else we could do, instead of just reading and commenting. This is something I hope you will do, to help prevent Bush and or this system from remaining in control. The world suffers while we wait...

[Read more letters about this article: Here]I like the passion of Mr. Owen, despite the fact that some of his anger seems to be directed towards you. I also like your response to his earlier post, that persuasion and force are the two ways of causing a change. Of course one could argue what methods to use to persuade, and when that crosses over the line to force, but those are only semantic arguments. When you are dealing with the Neocon mind, anything that is not acquiescence is viewed as force, and must be dealt with, with that in mind, in order to subdue it.
The only realistic approach that can be the precursor to change will be the mobilisation of the masses, and passive resistance to authority. That is how Ghandi precipitated the expulsion of the British from India.
The people need an issue to unite them. That issue is the 911 Truth campaign. Bush needs to be unmasked, and this is the surest way to do so. The scientific evidence suggests high level complicity in the deaths of almost 3000 people on 911, by government officials and contractors. You sound as though you like a good book. If you have not already done so, get a copy of The New Pearl Harbor, by David Ray Griffin. I mention again wtc7.net. Are you familiar with the topic already? If not then these two resouces will be invaluable introductions.
After considering the evidence, please comment on this issue, as your voice is reasonable, articulate, and can help to open the eyes of your readers, many of whom still appear to cling to the 'Official Story' as though it were the gospel. Your readers need to join the train of activists that will help to reestablish democratic rule in America. Support from a leading commentator such as yourself will have great value for all.
The masses need to be awakened, and united. This is the issue to do the job.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]It is not very often that I am disappointed by one of your columns, but this is that one time. The relevance of when the popularity of the United States diminished is not something that I thought you would waste your time on.
Whether or not the US is popular in any given region of the world is related to who is polled, how they are educated, as well as to who controls the results of the polls.
Most of your readers are probably well aware of the 10's of foreign military interventions that the US has been involved in since the early 1900's. If you or your relative were left alive you probably were a supporter of the intervention. Non-supporters were usually the ones who ended up dead. Poll result: We love the USA!
The real reason for the decrease in support among the populations of traditional allies, is that most are nominal democracies, and can not shield the actions of the US military juggernaut that are reported in their press. The sheep's clothing has been removed, and the wolf has been exposed for all to see. Even average Americans are revolted by the excesses of their government, because they are now aware what is occuring.
The fact that the US government has no respect for the rule of law makes it almost impossible for them to have any standard upon which to judge others. It is quite obvious when the pot tries to call the kettle black.
Still waiting for you to comment on David Ray Griffin, and A New Pearl Harbor. Griffin is a true American Patriot, and a real Leader for our times. Read his work. Spread his message.
