The big o is right. As Glenn has pointed out, everybody and his dog is suggesting that there is no use crying over spilled milk, and no use prosecuting Bush and his cronies for their crimes. We all know this is the height of hypocracy. If you can have three strikes and you are in jail for possession of small quantities of Marijauna, shouldn't there be three strikes for breaking the Geneva Covention on Torture, the supreme crime of starting a war of aggression against an enemy that was not a threat, and lying to your own people about spying on them with no justification?
How can we tell our kids to obey the law when they can point to the Preseident and say 'If he can break the law, why can't I?' There are either laws for all, or laws for none. If Bush is not held to account, prepare for the descent into anarchy.
'Forthwith', meaning immediately, seems to be a direct order to let them go, now. The Bush administration has shown a great disdain for the law. Is there any reason to suspect that they will actually comply with the ruling, and /or, have they done so?
This may be a historic day for the return towards a more democratic process. On the other hand it may accelerate the descent into martial law. Waiting with baited breath...
If Obama fails to hold Bush and the neocons to account for their brazen criminal activity, Rome is lost. He will continue to lack any moral authority in the world, and although the media will trumpet his morality, the people will know that he also, has no clothes. Obama needs to walk a fine line, but he must see that the principles of the rule of law are renewed, or anarchy will rear its ugly head in every corner of the earth. Re-establishing order can be accomplished in two ways. Cleanse the village to save the village, or reveal the truth of our system, and then try to fix it knowing all its flaws.
Which direction will Obama take?
There are two words that explain the actions of the Media, and their revisionist accounting of historical fact: Operation Mockingbird. It is commonly known that the MSM, and most of the western media for that matter, is infiltrated by the security and intelligence apparatus. This is how the message to the public is manipulated.
And Operation Gladio should be thought of, when we think about Mumbai, an attack that specifically targeted Westerners (Brits and Americans). False-flag attacks and tactics have been used with regularity to drive the people towards seeking more freedom from the state.
One need look no further than the comments by former Italian President, Francesco Cossiga, as quoted here, http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2008/nov/24/comment
"Maroni should do what I did when I was secretary of the interior. He should withdraw the police from the streets and the universities, infiltrate the movement with secret (provacateurs) agents, ready to do anything, and, for about 10 days, let the demonstrators devastate shops, set fire to cars and lay waste the cities. After which, strengthened by popular consent, the sound of ambulance sirens should be louder than the police cars. The security forces should massacre the demonstrators without pity, and send them all to hospital. They shouldn't arrest them, because the magistrates would release them immediately, but they should beat them up. And they should also beat up those teachers who stir them up. Especially the teachers. Not the elderly lecturers, of course, but the young women teachers."
My mistake in the last post. I meant to say that the people were driven to seek more security from the state rather than freedom...
macgupta's link to the BBC report is well worth a look. Here is a telling quote from an eye witness to the shootings:
'Then, the "foreign looking, fair skinned" men, as Mr Mishra remembers them, simply carried on killing.'
My first rule of thumb when looking at an event such as this is 'false-flag inside-job, til proven otherwise'.
Killers that are calm, fair skinned foreigners in India are not likely disaffected Muslims. Look for the story behind the story. Much like the Bali bombings, and the London tube station attacks, not to mention the attacks in Madrid, a little research shows that these were all almost certainly perpetrated by 'the good guys'.
We are in the Matrix.
You wrote a piece about our media not too long ago, and how we were misled on the causes of the Russian-Georgian conflict. That was mere distortion. Here is something that was just omitted completely:

This article(in a well respected mainstream publication) suggests strongly that the Marriott hotel bombing in Islamabad, Pakistan was an inside-job perpetrated by the US. It didn't make our press. Wonder why?
Operation Mockingbird.
The goal is Propaganda, not a free press. Glenn, your exposes are great at showing the emperor's they have no clothes, and the masses are starting to call them on it. Terrific stuff!
