Meghan McCain is simply an old school pre-Reagan revolution hard right GOP

Before the new W-Rove-Cheney brand of Republican Fascism there use to be a beast known as the moderate or even liberal Republican. They didn't care what you did in your bedroom and were laissez faire about social issues. They just wanted to make money and were open to dialog and compromise. George H.W. Bush (#41) was more or less this type, a New England GOP.

This sounds like Meghan McCain to some degree.

I don't agree with a lot of their platform and it's very difficult to get the hard right taste out of my mouth but at least the brand of GOP is willing to talk and move forward, rather then simply destroy government.

The thing is...is the future of the GOP really resting on Meghan McCain and the like? The hard right will eat here alive rather then change.

Joe Biden was right: "A Noun, A Verb, And 9/11"

It's really simple -- the U.S. stops funding Israel and then we talk

Really, WTF. The U.S. should just stop giving Israel $3 billion annually and step away. Things will clear up fast, one way or another. Funny how that works.

Here's how the conversation usually rolls...

Levi: I want you so much!

Bristol: I want you too!

Levi: Oh wait, I'm out of condoms.

Bristol: Oh no!

Levi: We can still do it.

Bristol: No...........

Levi: I'll die if I don't do it.

Bristol: No...........

Levi: It's okay, I'll pull out, it'll be okay.

Bristol: I don't know.

Levi: No it'll work, I'll pull out. I swear!

Bristol: You promise????????????????

9 months and a presidential election cycle later, not so much. Just like W, Uncle Dick, Rummie and the lot, Levi couldn't pull out.

The Party of No (PON) and its Anal Poisoning Wing (APW)

That would be the PON-APW! Sounds down right pinko, as it should.

So what is Rushbo and the PON-APW's position (pun indented) on butt plugs? Doesn't matter, the circle jerk narrows and narrows and soon there will only be three jerks in the circle - Rusho, Cheney and W (by default). The question then is who bends over for who?

Go PON-APW!

What can you say...rubes for pay for stadiums that the wealthy make bank off

As a Californian I can proudly say the state as a whole rarely funds professional sport stadiums for the super wealthy.

San Francisco didn't approve public funds to build PacBell-SBC-ATT Ball Park. Santa Clara County most likely won't pay for the new Niner stadium.

LA wouldn't pay for a new stadium for the Rams or any NFL team and it seems totally fine with it. Oakland and Alameda County did pay for a renovation to the Coliseum it wasn't near anything like the new stadium price tags.

A lot of people rag on the West Coast and California for being soft and loopy but at least we aren't suckers because public funds for stadiums and the wealthy to profit from are for suckers.

a thug is a thug and a murder is a murder

I'm sure some pro-lifers (ironically called) are rationalizing the murder of Tiller but if you kill someone in that manner, it's murder.

Original article: Thank you, Pat Leahy

The Party of No deserves a groin kick, a brow beating and more

Seriously these maggots are worthless. Their policy perspective is that of a 2 year old kid that just learned to say no.

Grow the fuck up GOP and grow a pair at the same time so when the country comes to collectively kick you in the balls for your plundering, you'll finally feel the pain everyone else has felt.

it's called pragmaticism and new understanding

Here's the deal -- the GOP have talked to Judge Sotomayor and they now realize she's not only very bright and highly qualified but that she has the ability to make them look very bad in the confirmation hearings. A bad showing on the confirmation means another nail the coffin of the GOP, and they know this.

Additionally, no senator wants to be shown up by someone they oppose and that the public generally likes. The Newt knows this and he's following suit. I agree that the GOP are regrouping but Judge Sotomayer is formidable and she suffers no fools.

Ultimately the race card is very difficult to play now. An African American POTUS and a highly qualified nominee ensures this. Times have changed. Bully.

Original article: No shoes thrown at Obama

progress off the back of backwardness

Lets face it, a large part of President Obama's mission was to (again) clean up the mess the Bush Administration left. On that level Obama succeeded in a good start. Diplomacy is a lot of things including symbolism and speech. I'm just happy that we no longer have a fratboy-cowboy-clown-cheerleader-warmonger boob in there "taking shoes". It's a huge relief.

Of course ultimate success will take more then a speech and more then the U.S. It will take all parties involved. It's nice to see however the U.S. stepping up and taking responsibility.

p.s. to the "dress beard callers" and right wingers -- you're the problem, you're why thousands of people are dead, your policy, your foaming at the mouth. Your guy isn't in there any longer so speak your peace respectfully then sit down and shut up and stop whining. Act like grown ups and human beings for god sake.
