At first I thought the GOP attacks again Obama (and related internal backlash against poor old John McCain) were a regular redneck thing but after reading the reports and analysis and watching the video, I was wrong.
This whole ball of hate is more like a Nazi thing because it's within a political context and caused by political figures and in formal speech. Riling up the crowd, the mob mentality, power and self esteem via fascism are all qualities of Nazis, as is sheer and utter violence and mayhem.
Minor (very minor) props to John McCain for finally saying something...but it only came after other GOPs said something. The fact that he (the GOP presidential candidate) has to cover for others in his party is just insane. It's too little too late. The Nazis within the GOP are loose. God help us all, we will need it.
Or it's a vast left wing conspiracy that has managed to replace the psych meds for these nitwits (Foley and Mahoney) with viagra.
Yeah okay...they're just sleazy as all hell. I mean seriously, W T F is up with the weirdness down in the bible belt?
Seriously, what is up with the weirdness and double speak of the GOP? I say give the kid a break because that's what I would want at that age...still if this was any other kid or the SIL of a dem, he's be raked over the coals, naked.
BTW, yeah, the apprentice gig, that's a sham because standard union apprenticeships require a HS diploma. He could have gotten a GED but sure doesn't sound like it.
You're better off asking 2 year olds who they think is better.
I can't believe the McCain campaign approved Sarah Palin in both those skits. SNL had their cake and they ate it too...they mocked Palin in front of her face and she was either clueless or too vain to know better.
Clearly the GOP have no grasp of humor but the bigger issue is they thought this was a good idea or could make a difference.
Desperation isn't the right term but once Amy P. shot the pantomime moose in gangsta rap, it was over. They buried McCain Palin on that one.
Indeed, "Shot the Moose" just replaced "Jumped the Shark" as meaning things on a downward slope.
Eerie, brilliant and weird.
...or at least pie the SOB. The man is a ball-less, self-serving ass wipe. Send Joey Libs down the river with the GOP.
Nice photo Salon Editors. It's a bit surreal, straight out of a Fellini film...perhaps Satyricon without fun or irony.

Amy Poehler's rap however was pure genius and I think it does ranks up there for Colbert's Bush pranking.
The "moose rap" wasn't as gnarly and straight-up ballsy but it was none-the-less 3-4 minutes of pure comic insanity and genius. To do it live and while very, very pregnant...more power to her.
How about all of them? How all of them line up at the bow of the Titanic to scream that line and then we push them into the drink.
The vast right wing conspiracy has cost the U.S. TRILLIONS of dollars, lives, liberty, justice, the future.
Piss off you wanker GOPs.
There's an odd, cruel poetry to Madelyn Dunham's passing now but there is a sense that it was to be. That with her passing, Barack Obama moves on with strength, sadness and destiny.
A great leader must experience pain and loss because without it, he or she doesn't really understand humanity or what's at stake.
Madelyn Dunham RIP.
Bruddah Barrack, do your tutu proud.
The GOP will always be easier targets because of a combination of things. Mostly they're humorless, lack the ability to see irony, lack insight and are generally socially dumb...but mostly the bigger their ineptitude, the easier the target.
Bill Clinton, even with the endless sex and intern jokes, owned the media because he was smarter then them, understood the "game"...and everyone loves a winner who pulls our butt out of economic muck.
In many ways, Obama has similar qualities -- he's gifted intellectually, he understands media, he's comfortable with himself and he possesses a rare dignity and there's no archetype to tag to him.
If that rare dignity can restore some sense to American pride and standing in the world and can bridge party lines and fix the mess left behind...I'm totally fine with that deal. I'll simply laugh at other stuff and enjoy the possibilities of the futures.
I didn't vote for McCain, never voted for a Republican ever. The socialist stuff at the end was utter horse crap and yet McCain gave a eloquent, no BS, concession speech and took things like a man. He deserves credit for this even after all the crap he flung. It's time to move on and John McCain even realizes this. Give him credit where it's due.
It's really striking to see the GOP eat their own while imploding. Indeed, the GOP are cannibals for eating their own.
It's not even ironic that once they couldn't hate and fear-monger on their opponent, they went after their own. This speaks volumes about who and what the GOP are about.
