You misunderstand tragedy of the commons

The tragedy is "public" goods.

Private property has no such problem.

Missing that kind of makes the rest a yawner. Ya know?

OR

Buyers are likely to go, "hey that's just like my little boy!"

And go buy the truck.

Endorsement??

Dude, stop dancing. You aren't asked to endorse someone, you are asked to SAY WHO YOU PREFER (of the candidates running). By doing this, your work will be able to be judged.

"When Conason said xxx, boy that's a big deal, because he prefers Clinton!"

Endorse! LOL!

heather, jesus c'mon

What's wrong with you? Chicken isn't $7 a lb (anywhere but whole foods), you sound as out-of-it as george bush 1 buying milk.

YOU AREN'T ALLOWED to bitch and moan for the working class, any more than you are allowed to bitch and moan at Carlin for not voting.

YOU ARE ALLOWED to write about TV shows. Yours isn't cultural criticism (Paglia does that professionally), yours is telling people which quirky TV to watch, how to easily waste a few moments in their week. Stop freaking out! Life isn't passing you by! You dig thru the cultural clearance sale underwear bin, looking for numbers that still might be sexy if the customer is shaped like X, and stands like Y, in Z light. Otherwise weird TV just plain sucks; sure, it is still worth watching, just not worth you talking about it. Wrap your head around that for a second.

This said, I love you, always have since early Polly (even tried to hire you). But woman, you are depressing me. If you want to leave TV PR behind, than god dammit do so... but the first 5-6 paragraphs of your work are becoming more worthless every damn column. You are killing me. PLEASE stop.

Thx. Morgan

Kill the lawyers

That's it. Just get rid of malpractice lawsuits.

Start with this thinking: We won't make any doctor pay more than $10K a year in malpractice insurance, out of that pool, all claims must be paid.

Eventually it is about trust, and doctors are the folks you trust. With the threat of being sued off the table... THEN you are welcome to scream when a doctor doesn't want to help.

the age of polyester suits you, heather.

I'm glad you finally have something on TV worth writing about. So many quotes, I'm swooning. Stick with that practice, even for the crap.

Tho, it'd be better if you laid off the moralizing just a bit.

Stepping back, the lesson is... things today are pretty good. You missed that one.

Stepping further back, I'd ask you, what makes you think our social construct between men & women won't be just as quaint in a future show? And if it is, which of those female characters are you?

stuff

FIRST, "Let's not get selective, Lonewolfy"

sorry but thats a bad analysis. the proof that all groups have extremes does nothing to distinguish between groups with tons of violent extremists (YES, TONS), and other with not tons. tons = Muslims.

SECOND, and much more fun... anytime a writer at Salon gets hammered by its normal readership in comments for being too multi-cultural, you now the writer is anti-American. Salon is the proof. Salon is at minimum, the litmus test. her readers are pre-disposed to side with multi-culture.

look, women in head-dress is WRONG. Stupid. lesser. Dumb. and liberal thought GAINS when it chooses to support women's rights and castigate multi-culture. you learn everything about real life in that argument.

To defend liberalism is to betray and attack head-dresses. All of you must choose. Now you have enemies right here at Salon.

welcome.

Wait.... Head is only eating beans

Heather, now you can splurge on the good stuff, I'm glad you are able to ungrateful for it. Just weeks ago, you were eating only beans and fretting over $7 a lb chicken at Whole Foods.

Here's your assignment, no matter what you think about the next shows your write about, the during the cute analogies and metaphors, you must either talk about how great this country is (and mean it), or about your shrink (in which case you can lie if it is funny).

Go nuts.

The future

This show obviously works, and has such a following, because women all over this country, are starting to think they could use another wife around the house.

Takes some audience notes

Polly-Rabbit,

This is a fine piece you penned. BUT, note first 3 posters all say, "Don's a workplace Solomon - and that's enough."

Digest this. It works on many many other shows and most movies, a guy who's fair in work, gets a pretty good pass in love. As a critic, reflect the viewers opinions - they'll think you are: 1) helpful 2) a genius.

That's who we are to each other really - workers. You are a good writer, I don't know if you are an Olympic champ in the kitchen and bedroom.

Also, more mentions of breasts helps (see Rabbit blog).
