Let's hope Obama (no pun or irony intended)...

...doesn't really go too negative on Clinton.*

No need to antagonize any more of Hillary's voters when the math shows it's over, and her campaign continues to fall apart anyway.

I wonder if/when we'll hear the Penn story repeated for Howard Wolfson, the man who looks like a cross between Howard Duffy and Darth Cheney.

*Yes, I realize her backers believe he's been too negative all along, and his believe he's gone easy.

@ heyjude (way OT)

"...as the kids say, "on my last nerve." "

Funny, when I've heard that phrase it's usually coming from someone older than me, so I've always thought it was an old Southern expression.

Just how much national - and especially international - experience...

...did Bill Clinton have in 1992? Chairman of the National (Democratic?) Governors' Association is about it as I recall. Seems like he turned out okay in most respects - certainly better than his successor.

Of course, using the logic of Hillary's campaign, his marriage to the woman who was First Lady of Arkansas for 10 years meant he had the experience necessary to be President.

Did someone hijack Notorious' identity?

@ emanneercs (way, WAY OT)

"For an excellent example of how "off the record" works, see the first episode in this final season of HBO's 'The Wire'."

Please forgive me, but as a cheap philistine who has never gotten HBO (or any other premium channel), I have to say that I'M SICK OF HEARING ABOUT THE DAMN WIRE!!!

This is not directed at emanneercs, or even at Salon, which at least makes cyberspace (when was the last time anyone used that word?) for discussion of other shows and channels. I'm really just trolling for me-toos from anyone else who's fed up with NPR's constant worship of The Wire and all things HBO. I swear the Corp for Public Broadcasting, and Terry Gross in particular, must own stock in the channel. I suppose I'm culturally deprived but I've never seen The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Dead Like Me, The Wire, etc., etc. So sue me.

Yes, I realize I should post this at NPR. I think I've done that in the past, and I'll probably do it again, but it won't make any more difference than posting it here.

Oh yeah, I hate "This American Life" too.

But generally I like NPR - really!

Back on topic: thanks to Steve1us for reminding me where I've seen Samantha Power before. I think she may have also been on an episode of Bill Moyers' Journal not long ago. I agree, she needs to stay connected especially if Obama wins.

Maybe that should be "especially if Clinton wins", but there's no chance of Hillary listening to her after this.

Original article: Obama advisor Power resigns

Don't forget, Lev

They'll wait a day or two and then say Obama's campaign is sexist because it let a qualified woman go, and now is x% more male-dominated. This message will be conveyed by Mark Penn and/or Howard Wolfson.

---------------

In response to Asher Steinberg's 9:14 post "The Offensive Part Was Where She Implied Poor People/Ohioans Are Stupid": come on. Power wasn't saying OR implying they're stupid, but that they're "obsessed" with jobs because of the economic situation and Clinton exploited it by making Obama into a threat. His campaign f'd up by not countering that effectively. She's just saying that Ohioans bought into Hillary's deceit, not that they were stupid to do so.

Original article: Obama advisor Power resigns

@Pricilla

"Obsessed

Power didn't apologize to the people of Ohio after saying they have evil spirits."

At first I thought this was joke, but the rest of your post shows it isn't. What are you talking about?

"Obsessed" was the perfect title, though.

Didn't take long indeed

McAuliffe had to get it out before he could include the fact that Samantha Power resigned from Obama's campaign.

12:22 W.E.S. may be mostly right

"If Obama Wins the nomination and loses the general, Hillary will be Queen in 2012."

No doubt she'll TRY to be the Queen in 2012. I heard speculation yesterday - in these letters? on Air America? can't remember where - that she KNOWS she's mathematically eliminated already but is staying in it to help McCain. That way she can run against him in 4 years instead of likely having to wait until after Obama's re-election campaign.

-------

How about this compromise: Obama for Pres, his choice (not Hillary) for VP - but she's appointed to the first opening on the Supreme Court? It's not the presidency but it's a lifetime appointment on what could be, after 4 or 8 years of Obama appointments, a centrist if not barely lefty SC.

Xran

I enjoy and nearly always agree with your posts - loved the "Sorry I don't speak Klingon or Esperanto.." line - and I hate to give McCain a break, but I don't see how you get "he's really crazy" out of that clip. He didn't even make that squinty Popeye face. Sure, he's a little put out and he'd obviously like the reporter to shut up, but the video is kind of a letdown after reading the transcript (in the next War Room item).

I'm not saying he ISN'T really crazy, just that it's not evident in those couple of minutes.
