@ Ellyllon (but off-topic)

"...an International Extra-Marital Dating Service for Hang-dog faced politicians!"

If such a thing exists and they want to diversify their client list, they could include a certain hang-dog faced Hung gigolo who seems to have absorbed Salon.

I understand Salon's need for revenue - and I'm not giving them any - but good grief! I thought I was being redirected to the HBO home page...or maybe NPR's, since I'm sure that Hung will be the next Greatest And Most Important TV Series Ever and as such will require at least one hour a week of commentary on Fresh Air, Schlock Of The Nation, etc.

Original article: Quote of the morning

Good catch, Alex.

I'm always here to give you grief (usually about coverage of a certain governor) so I should praise you when you do good. Once in awhile, anyway.

I'm not going to donate any money to [DeMented/DimWit/other juvenile riff on his name] but I'm very tempted to give $17.87.

Happy Father's Day, kids!

Not to mention Mom.

If it doesn't involve misuse of public or campaign money,

why should anyone other than family and friends give a damn?

@ kickstarts and Mykeru

kickstarts, you're right that we don't really know if Ahmadinejad won, lost, or should be in a runoff. But consider the following.

From the article: "...Khamenei said that the 11 million vote differential between Ahmadinejad and Mousavi indicates that there was no voter fraud."

They know it was 11 million votes apart because they took nearly 3 hours to count them all, by hand, before announcing the results.

Mykeru, here's (or click on my sig) a representation of your statement about the bottle (if you don't look at it today, just find the June 19 cartoon):

Are out-of-state endorsements a recent phenomenon?

Maybe I've had a major failure in the old memory bank, but I don't recall many - if any - out-of-state endorsements in primaries for either party.

I guess I hope DeMint's endorsement helps Rubio - since, even though the thought of Rubio in the Senate scares and disgusts me, he'd be easier to beat than Crist - but mostly I feel like somebody needs to ask DeMint, Cornyn, and McConnell just who the hell they think they are to stick their noses into Florida politics.

Same goes for the Dems - unless there's a David Duke to defeat, stay away from other states' primaries.

--------------------------------

Also, it's true that "Crist...upset many in the GOP when he broke from party ranks to support President Obama’s stimulus plan." It's also true that the GOP-run Florida Legislature was only too happy to use a few billion dollars of that stimulus money to balance a state budget severely underfunded thanks to the policies of Marco Rubio, the infamous "Jeb!", and Charlie Crist.

@ sonofload

Hey, guess what? Hillary lost the nomination and she's now in Obama's cabinet. Don't you think it's time for you to get past it?

Thanks, hexis

For an excellent post. I especially like the line "Ignorance is a hugely important political fact". I may start using that for my email signature line.

Welcome back my friends, to the crush that never ends

Don't ever change, Alex - eventually Sarah will notice you.

It's just a matter of time before she dumps that "snow machine" racin' clown and runs to you.

Even if you believe "abortion is murder"...

How would Tiller be worse than Hitler? Did he perform and/or order 6 million abortions?

And what exactly DID Jesus say about abortion? Anybody got a chapter and verse citation - or did he not say anything at all?

I'm shocked! Shocked, I tell you!

"...Sestak made sure to bring up Bush -- and Specter's having supported the former president's policies -- even at times when he didn't really relate directly to the question at hand."

My God, what are we coming to when a politician would do such a thing? No candidate has ever done that before!

@ Philip H. (tangental topic)

"And it shows why I think Jeb was smart to get out of politics when he did."

First of all the proper name is "Jeb!", not just "Jeb".

Second, and more disastrous for the planet, he hasn't gotten out of politics. He was limited to 2 terms as governor, and his decision not to run for US Senate is probably equal parts wanting to prepare for a presidential run and disdain for the idea of being merely 1 of 100. He's a Bush, for God's sake - his destiny is to rule by fiat, not vote in committees!

Recently, Jeb! was named as one of the Republicans on the listening tour that's supposed to reintroduce the GOP to America - though as a recent letter to the local newspaper said, "Jeb [sic] Bush on a listening tour" is an oxymoron.

Original article: America loves Dick Cheney

@ Natty-J

"At least they [the Bush administration] were full of crap regarding things I didn't care about. Between a foolish war and the lunacy of the current budget, I'll take the foolish war."

I guess no one you know or "care about" was affected by the war, but I bet thousands of American families and a couple of million Iraqis might have a different opinion.

@ lilybean, I can answer one question

"Does none of the media want to restore their reputations?"

No.

Original article: A Palin-Clinton alliance?

Just yesterday

I noticed that there was an entire page of War Room articles (going back at least to Friday) with no mention of Sarah.

Way to keep that love alive, Alex!

@ qazwart

"If Crist can't win the Republican primary, then the Republican party is simply dead."

While that might be true for the Florida GOP as an organization (as if my fellow Dems are "organized"), the unfortunate fact is that the Repubs have large majorities in the state legislature.

Original article: Finale wrap-up: "Lost"

@ PigBodine, re "Life on Mars"

I barely watched that show but I did catch the finale. I thought this bit from Mission Control in 2035 was cute:

"President Obama wanted to be here to congratulate you on the landing...but her father is quite ill, so she and her sister have gone to Chicago to be with him."

As I've said a thousand times

When the Dems finally get 60 seats, they'll whine that they can't do anything without 67.
