That pic of McCain...

...really draws attention to the lump on his left jowl. I heard somewhere that it's a cancer scar, but I wonder how many people think it's a remnant of his torture - that is, "enhanced interrogation"?

Surely the GOP isn't trying to make people think about the HUGE DEBT THIS COUNTRY OWES JOHN MCCAIN BECAUSE HE WAS A P.O.W.

Another way of putting it

Alex said: "Some people just plain dislike former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Others, like Ed Koch -- who was himself mayor of NYC -- hate Giuliani with a fiery passion."

Don Meredith said, in reference to his Monday Night Football colleague Howard Cosell: "Some people people hate Howard like poison. Other people just hate him regular."

Sometimes "War Room" appears to be the Kansas O'Flaherty of political commentary.

As others have said, BFD on Biden's statement.

Or as Letterman would have the fake Kim Jong Il say, "Chillax, Bro!"

(BTW, Obama is supposed to be on Letterman's show tonight)

Original article: Drill, baby, drill

Alex, there's a mistake in this article's headline

You forgot to put "Palin" in it.

Thursday, September 11, 2008 04:26 PM

Alex, I'm not sure exactly what the Dubya Doctrine is besides "Do Everything Wrong In The Worst Way Possible"

...so maybe I'm missing some subtlety here, but how does your comment:

"She tried to cover up and to get Gibson to give her more detail on what exactly he was asking, but to his credit, he saw the ploy and didn't go along."

Square with this:

"GIBSON: The Bush Doctrine, as I understand it, is that we have the right of anticipatory self-defense, that we have the right to a pre-emptive strike against any other country that we think is going to attack us."

?

Thanks for the pic.

I see that Charlie's not wearing the schoolmarm glasses he had on during the "debate".

Gotta look good for the hot hackey mam, I guess.

Beating the microscopic dust which is all that remains of a long-dead horse

"Update: ABC has just released another little snippet. Gibson asks Palin whether she thinks Barack Obama should have chosen Hillary Clinton as his running mate."

News flash for Charlie Gibson, as well as all the alleged "Hillary supporters" like Kate Tex: IT'S OVER, AND HILLARY IS NOT GOING TO BE THE NOMINEE FOR PRESIDENT OR VICE-PRESIDENT!!!!!

Sorry to yell, but I had to try to get through to them. I know there's no hope for KateTex and the like, but are the damn media morons EVER going to get past the "Hillary vs Obama" melodrama?

Kristol is anti-establishment

in the same universe where Mittens Romney's complaints about a liberal Supreme Court are true.

@ Xanthro 11:05

You make good points, but...

"Look at how much mud was throw at Bill Clinton in 2002"

...I think you need a new calendar.

McCain's highly sensitive to sexist insults now...

...but he didn't seem to mind a few months back when one of his supporters asked "How do we stop the bitch?"

Funny how that little tidbit was NEVER mentioned in any of the MSM (including NPR) yakking I heard about the lipstick "issue".

Original article: Was Palin's e-mail hacked?

"However, those interested in the actual content of the e-mails may be disappointed."

Kind of like those of us who keep checking War Room for actual items of importance.

"Gawker's images offer up little in the way of newsworthy information."

Kind of like - well, you get the idea.

But what do I know? I'm just one of those liberals who don't get Alex Koppleman's "real world" issues like Greek columns.

Original article: Was Palin's e-mail hacked?

@ foxcatcher

"When our private accounts are invaded by idiots like gawkers, the Department of Justice should prosecute them to the full extent of the law."

But what if they refuse to comply with subpoenas?

Wednesday, September 17, 2008 06:20 PM

@ LonewackoDittohead

Just because someone found one instance of Limbaugh saying those words in a slightly less insulting context does NOT mean that's the only way he used them.

Anyone who's spent 15 minutes (about my limit) listening to that blowhard or any other radio wingnut knows that repetition is their lifeblood. Any "thought" that can be expressed in 5 minutes is inflated and repeated ad nauseum to fill hours of airtime.

In other words (hey, I'm doing it too!), what you cited is bad enough but I bet it's not the only time or way he used that phrase.

Thursday, September 18, 2008 01:37 PM

A proposed compromise

Since War Room insists on having the word "Palin" in at least 2 out of every 3 headlines, maybe those items NOT directly about Sarah Barracuda (there are a few now and then) could get special treatment.

For instance, the headline "Conservative Writer Supports Palin's Opponents" could be put on this story:

http://www.dmagazine.com/ME2/dirmod.asp?nm=Core+Pages&type=gen&mod=Core+Pages&tier=3&gid=B33A5C6E2CF04C9596A3EF81822D9F8E

(or go to http://www.dmagazine.com/ME2/Default.asp and click on "A Conservative for Obama")

Thursday, September 18, 2008 03:45 PM

Shouldn't the headline read "Palin's other opponent is on the ballot in 45 states and D.C."?

Since only two of the last four articles had "Palin" in them.

Thursday, September 18, 2008 03:51 PM

@ UncommonSense

As a reward for putting the GOP in the White House, maybe you-know-who will name Nader as her VP and let him stay in the secure undisclosed location after she takes over from grumpy gramps.

If I was going to vote "third" party

I think I'd go for Bob Barr. Libertarians aren't my cup of tea by any means, and Barr was - like many Repubs - a hypocritical slime during the Clinton impeachment, but I'd have to go with him out of sympathy for his appearance in "Borat".

Original article: Palin's peculiar lie

Odd ways

First, I admit my hypocrisy in posting here since I agree with PhamDofMN that this is hardly "news" worthy of TWO War Room items. (Then again, it gets that magic name back in the headline after two consecutive "Palin"-less blurbs.)

Second, a note to rupert_c: it's not REALLY Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder unless it's referred to as "CDO" - you know, with the letters in alphabetical order.

Finally: not to be sexist or to bring up "private" family issues, but speaking as Alex K did of Palin's "odd way to hold a vote", why wasn't more made of Palin's odd way to defuse rumors of Trig's parentage - by announcing Bristol's pregnancy? Wouldn't a better way have been to show her (Sarah's) own OB/Gyn records?

Original article: Palin's peculiar lie

@ KathyG

Thanks for making the same point much better than I did.

(I have to learn to check for new letters before I hit "Publish".)

"Limbaugh: Obama "stoking racial antagonism" "

is almost as funny a headline as "Lady de Rothschild: Obama is elitist"
