  • Didn't she get Rove's memo...

[Read the article: Katherine Harris in heaven? It's more likely than the U.S. Senate]

    ...about supporting Joe Lieberman?

"...If you are not electing Christians, tried and true, under public scrutiny and pressure, if you're not electing Christians, then in essence you are going to legislate sin."

Her campaign later clarified that voters in Connecticut should disregard this portion of her statement.

(I'm kidding of course; she has no "campaign".)

  • One line trumps a year of incompetence?

"Bush put more people on his side with that one response..." - joe Tuesday, August 29, 2006 18:32:03

Yeah, the same people who thought his video of looking under a table for WMD was hilarious.

Some of the folks he turned his back on might find ironic humor in his comment, but I doubt it put them on his side.

  • A Simple Plan

As Anonymous said (12:07), if there's any sign it should include all the candidates' names (in the same size font).

Otherrwise it should just be simple, like

    FOLEY = NEGRON

  • 897 * 3 = 2691. 2691 / 9 = 299. Also, Mallard F is a waste of ink.

sdurf, I wondered about 897 / 3 too - but I bet that "triple-step" means take three steps for every, uh, step.

I too hope we see more of "James Poult". The only flaw in today's strip is that the artwork is much too good to be confused with the dreck that is "Mallard Fillmore".

  • Am I imagining it?

[Read the article: They love this game]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I've only watched this once, and maybe it's my imagination, but I swear the music/chant near the end of the clip is to the tune of "My Darling Clementine"!

  • Okay, not the chant, just the music...

[Read the article: They love this game]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

...and it's in the middle of the clip too.

  • I'm a bit more concerned...

[Read the article: This Modern World]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

... that 18 to 22 year old Americans (and all Iraqis) are fair game in Bush's war than I am that some are targets of a political cartoonist.

  • Olbermann right on target again

[Read the article: Olbermann on "sacrifice"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I agree with pretty much everything Olbermann says, but man is he ever full of himself.

  • And I'm a bit more dense...

[Read the article: This Modern World]

...than you may think, Bemused, since I'm not quite sure what you're saying. If you're alleging that we're all safer because of Dubya's Iraq campaign, I appreciate your concern but couldn't disagree more.

We'll be lucky if the increase in hatred of, and danger to, Americans because of Iraq lasts years instead of decades or generations. That's not because of the young (and not-so-young) men and women who have been sent there, it's because of Dubya's decision to send them there.

  • Okay, now I get it

[Read the article: This Modern World]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Bemused, if you really still believe that Bush's Iraq war has anything to do with 9/11, I'll leave you to your fantasy.

  • Hold on, Ralph

Who said these conversations are happening now?

Maybe they actually(!) took place years ago.

  • "three months longer than prosecutors had recommended"

[Read the article: A sentence for Bob Ney]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

He deserved at least that much more for his part in changing the House cafeteria's menu to "freedom fries".

  • Great line

"Stick to making dirty calls to the help, Bill."
