is this a movie review or a comedy writing try out?
[Read the article: "10,000 BC"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]i'm all for being snarky when the subject requires it (such as a cheesy movie about dreadlocked cavemen) but this review just reads like some gawker commenter's try out for a comedy writing job. terrible writing.
could you put it into context of other cavemen movies, good or bad? could you tell us something about the movie --scenery, costumes, dialogue, etc, so we can make up our mind whether to watch it or not? you're allowed to put your funny comments in, but first provide us with a review, then make the funny.

joining the chorus
[Read the article: The best-laid plans]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]i was going to write a long letter about what a waste of a main article this story was, but i see plenty of others have beat me to it. i'm not here to come down on the writer, but i do think the editors of Salon need to start listening. the non-political writing in Salon has gotten worse and worse and it's full of this navel gazing bland tripe.
who do you think your audience is? a story like that would only seem interesting and appealing to a 17 year old. i can read better work in Slate, which is not what i hold as a measure of quality.
well, i let my subscription to Salon run out last december, it just wasn't worth it, and i'm sure i'm not the only one.

salon has become middle of the road boring.
[Read the article: The best-laid plans]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]this is the suburbanization of liberal culture. whereas liberals once stood in opposition to bland, middle of the road, privileged and entitled writers, now it seems we're encouraging it.
there is no insight in this story that makes it worth putting at the lead story of today.
and for all of you saying that people are only complaining because she's pretty, i would ask that you look at her picture. she looks as bland as boring and unsexy as her writing.

bill clinton's favorite drink.
[Read the article: Make mine a Mrs. Robinson!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]if you're also planning on celebrating old men who like young women the following might help you.
bill clinton's favorite drink is a "bitter lewinsky".
one glass of red kool aid, a shot of everclear, a dash of bitters and stirred with a cigar.
be careful when drinking as any spills will stain your dress.

i'd vote for nancy pelosi for president but not for hillary
[Read the article: Thank you, Rush Limbaugh!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]is that clear enough for you?
it's not about sexism, it's about hillary.
-
please, cut it out!
[Read the article: Hey, Obama boys: Back off already!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]obama's supporters are not as gender divided as clinton's. please, please stop with this erroneous assumption that men are supporting obama because they are against hillary's gender. it seems more likely from polling that more women support hillary for her gender than the other way around.
-
it's not about what he said...
[Read the article: The rubes and the elites]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]it's not about what he said, it's about how it's been twisted by the mccain and clinton campaigns and by the right wing echo chamber. in this article again you fall for the trap of discussing the issue under the frame it's given to you. this article is of no help.

rip van schoen
[Read the article: Clinton pollster urges senator to go relentlessly negative]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]i read the schoen article and i think he had a two month case of the rip van winkle and just woke up. he seems to be outlining the strategy she's taken for the last two months and is promoting it as his fresh new idea.
-
so now you're righteous...
[Read the article: What Pennsylvania tells us]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]so you're complaining that people say obama's losses are due to racism? ok, i agree, but why do you keep publishing articles that blame all of hillary's losses on sexism? particularly when it has been over and over that her wins are due to the disproportionate ratio of white women voters that has gotten her over the top, i would say it's safe to say that her gender has been an asset to her campaign.
-
projecting?
[Read the article: Looking past Pennsylvania]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]hi joan, i think you need to get off your pedestal.
-
just to make it seem insincere?
[Read the article: Obama "outraged" by Wright]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]uhm, so why the quotation marks around "outraged"?
-
your oh so insightful view on online profiles is about as insightful as my grandma's
[Read the article: You are not your bookcase]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]geez, you obviously don't get it.
online profiles are part who we are, part who we want to be, part who we want others to see us as. just deal with it.
and if you're really picking up your reading list from your friends profiles you need to get a life.

it takes a lot of balls to know when to quit for the benefit of all
[Read the article: Hillary Clinton's big, brass ... fortitude]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]if hillary clinton had balls she would have swallowed some pride awhile ago and dropped out of the race for the good of not only the democratic party but for the good of the united states of america. this extended primary with all it's false attacks of guilt by association, all these shameless whisper campaigns and all this unethical innuendo has not been good for anyone.

TOM DASCHLE!
[Read the article: Obama Veepstakes]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]we miss you!
-
so what will you learn from the last few months of your own writing, joan?
[Read the article: What should Hillary Clinton do now?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]i'm glad you state some of this in your latest column, but yes, that's what a lot of us have been saying for a couple of months. since wisconsin at least.
a lot of people who saw this in a sensible and realistic evaluation have called for her to not leave the democratic presidential candidate as damaged goods ever since it became clear she did not have a reasonable chance of winning, but we were branded as "obamabots" people who had joined "the obama cult", who had drunk his kool-aid, who were afraid of a powerful woman, who were mysoginists, who were enamored with the idea of a black president, who were naive to the ways of politics.
hopefully you will earn from this experience and make a more serious attempt to gauge the mood of salon readers in the future. listen to them, keep an honestly open mind to others ideas and not let your own idealism and dreams stop you from seeing what's is right in front of you.
take a breather and in a few months, maybe after the end of the election and go back and read your editorials. weight them with your hindsight and try to see at what point you let your desire to see a woman become president cloud your vision of an intellectually strong and honest editor.
