  • Arrogant Godsless Liberals Suck Left Titty!

Kudos to Treifalicious and SR for sticking up for their fellow Bronze Age religionists.

You would not believe the shit my wife and I took when we decided to have our 13-year-old daughter's left boob cut off (my wife's an Amazon). All of our friends called all barbarians and insulted our 8000-year cultural heritage and said that the Amazons were "just a Bronze-age myth." How insulting! Ours is a tradition symbolizing our compact with Artemis, who promised not to fuck us up if the women cut off their boobs.

Then they pulled out the old canards, saying that we were "mutilating" a young woman, comparing our beautiful and gods-affirming traditions to those of the dark-skinned savages who cut cut off their daughters' labia and clitorises. How insensitive and totally not applicable!

Then they tried the one about how it was a tradition started so that Amazons could continue to use a bow past puberty. The practical origins of our superstitions and rituals are completely beside the point!

They didn't even realize that by even questioning our traditions that they were no better than the rabid anti-Amazites who drive my wife's people from their homeland. They even went so far as to call the cops and child protective services! So much for the separation of church and state, you whining, meally-mouthed liberal hypocrites!

Truth be told our daughter was admittedly reluctant to have her left boob cut off, but when we explained to her that (a) the wound would be santitized and sealed with a hot iron by a licensed and trained Amazon witch, (b) she was now 50% less likely to get breast cancer, and (c) she could continue to hunt boar and mountain lions with spear and bow, she was all on board.

Now our daughter is a young twenty-something woman, who as already disposed of her first baby-daddy like the true Amazon she is (my wife's a bit of religious non-conformist in that she was content to merely enslave me), and nobody but nobody gives her shit about the whithered and puckered flesh on the left of her torso.

We are so proud of her and the unbroken chain of mutiliation going back to our people's special relationship with Artemis of the Silver Bow! You liberal elitists with your purposeless and empty lives of Reason just wouldn't understand, so shut the fuck up.

SR: Your childish (and at times obscure) name-calling, hasty generalizations, baseless assumptions, arguments ad antiquitatem, scapegoating, stereotyping, and humorlessness almost persuaded me this time, but then you went and implied that I'm some sort of relativist. (You also said something about black shirts, which may have been a reference to Gen-X'ers or Mussolini's thugs, tho' to your mind they may be one and the same.)

But I digress: Everything is most certainly not everything. For instance, a cow is not a sheep, an asteroid is not a daisy, and deciding things for yourself is not that same as accepting a pre-fab belief system unquestioningly. Perhaps you were offended by my making fun of your 1-note leitmotif that (your) traditions are always good, questioning one-iota of (your) traditions is always bad, and people who question (your) traditions are latte-sipping-nihilist-marxist-ne'er-do-well-malcontents who should just go away. Well, I assure you, SR, I'm not a relativist who believes that "everything is everything." If I were, I would have read your posts, shrugged my shoulders, straightened my [insert ambiguous clothing reference meant to convey contempt], and turned up my [insert preferred stereotype/scapegoat] music.

Instead I decided to make fun of your completely unpersuasive mode of argument. True, it wasn't very enlightened of me, and mockery isn't an effective form of argument either, but who really expects to persuade or be persuaded in the Salon letters forum?

If you really want to have a discussion about our ethics, morals, and the role of tradition and reason in our lives, feel free to email me at sleepycoyote@yahoo.com.

If you want to call people "retarded" and impugn every aspect of their lives as you imagine them to be, carry on. That's your perfect right.

Maybe tomorrow us conflict junkies will get a Cary Tennis letter from a woman (who turns out to be Anne Lamont) who converted to Islam and wonders if she should have the child circumcized to appease her Jewish parents, raised as an atheist in accord with the wishes of her Objectivist in-laws, or if she should follow her transsexual lesbian lover's advice to get a Brazillian wax and raise the child as a Dominionist Christian. To which Tennis replies, after quoting extensively from Hegel, Freud, and his 12-step manual, that she should follow her heart. I bet we'd bust 300 by 9AM.
