Dick Morris, Leave the County?
[Read the article: Exiling Dick Morris]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What? And lose his meal ticket? This parasite has been making money hand-over-fist off of his soured relationship with the Clintons. There's nothing he'd want MORE than a Dem. nominee Hillary, except for a President Hillary, so he can continue to profit from their names, even if they haven't spoken to him in 10 years. His statement that he'd leave the country is just the pose he is required to take to maintain his membership in the I Hate Hillary Club. Like Rush, Hannity, etc. he wants and needs the Evil Clintons in power in order to make money.

Felicitous Festivus, Everyone!
[Read the article: Quote of the Day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]When reality fails to conform 100% with Bill O's worldview, he is indeed furious. (Take a look at how he reacts when someone stands up to him with facts and logic). He simply assumes that the "SP's" are the same. For my own part, I can think of nothing so funny as Christians celebrating the Christmas in the exact same manner (trees, gifts, drunkenness) as the Romans did Saturnalia. So "Merry Christmas" and "Io, Saturnalia" to all of you! May your corn grow tall and heavy!

Susan ... look up "Indigenous"
[Read the article: Nation building]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The Jews weren't "indigenous" to Israel. They moved there after leaving Egypt. Their own Torah reports in some detail the Israelites' relentless invasion, enslavement, and mass murder of the people already living there. These truly indigenous people were called the Canaanites. Furthermore, there were other prehistoric tribes living there, namely the Girgashites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hittites, Hivites, and Jebusites. The Israelites drove them off of their land too, killing, raping, or enslaving any stragglers. Again, all this is in the Torah.
Now I'm not criticizing the ancient Isaelites. This is the way the world was back then (and still is, some say). Angle, Saxon, Jute, Sooner, or Jew, if you wanted fertile land you took it or you starved. And once you had it, you did everything you could to keep the next tribe of nomads from taking from you. I'm just pointing out that the Jews were not "indigenous" peoples returning to their prehistoric stomping grounds.
I'm sick of people trying to gussy-up amoral tribal conflicts as Grand Moral Crusades for Freedom (except for the losers).

Olympic Fencing vs. Kenjutsu
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Timbuktom: I don't know if you were being ironic or not, but there's a whole genre of Internet videos matching Olympic-style fencers against kendo and kenjutsu fencers. Here's one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl4xpy7i_Bw
Sometimes the Kendo fencer gets the neck-chop in first, sometimes the Olympic fencer sticks him in the guts first. Their using foils and bamboo swords of course. As old teacher used to say, "Skill is skill, regardless of style." I, for one, would be curious to see the various sword-fighting styles pitted against one another in a tournament setting, especially since there's been a small renaissance of non-Olympic-style Western fencing in the past few years.
As for those who don't understand how beating someone up can be a sport, then don't watch it. Besides, "beating up" is rather pejorative. It implies that one person has an unfair advantage over the other or is an unwilling participant. This isn't a playground brawl or a streetfight. It's two consenting adults testing their fighting skill against one another. Again, if you don't find it enjoyable to do or watch, then don't.
Anyway, for anyone interested in martial arts, whether it's idle curiosity or practical interest, I'd recommend the movie "Budo." It's a documentary about Japanese martials arts and has some pretty phenomenal displays of athleticism.

World Combat League...
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Is newer organization that organizes MMA fights. It was started by Chuck Norris (middle-weight karate champ 1968-1974; 65 wins, 5 losses before he gave up fighting for acting). The bouts are shorter, more intense, and feature a wide array for MMA fighters and "traditional" martial artists. YouTube has tons of clips.

He Got Exactly What He Deserved
[Read the article: Blaming the messenger]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]He was a murderer, butcher, and tyrant. It seems like he owes the Iraqis a few kilos of pain and humiliation in exchange for the literal tons of tortured, twisted bodies he buried in mass graves. What's next, badmouthing the Italians for the way they treated Mussolini?
The only downside I can see is that the Butcher of Bagdad won't be able to testify against the Americans who gave him toe military, financial, and political support for his reign of terror.

Alright!
[Read the article: No time to heal]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]An article about Ford - not> Nixon or Clinton - some elicits a love-letter/hate-gram about Nixon and Clinton with all the penetratiing insight of a magic eightball!

Loves His Job
[Read the article: Tom the Dancing Bug]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You can tell that Bolling loves comics and drawing comics as he pays homage to (and lampoons) other strips. I'm particularly fond of Bolling's God-Man, a double send-up of super-hero comics and religion. It's nice to see a "political" cartoonist who regards the comics part at least as important as the politics part. It's an affection that reminds me of Los Bros. Hernandez work with "Love & Rockets."
Oh yeah, and it's funny too.

Standing
[Read the article: A Democratic majority, but Bush still has his say]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]From what I understand, in order to challenge a law, you have to have standing. In this case, that would mean that someone challenging the signing statement would have to be someone who (A) has had their mail opened, (B) found out about it, and (C) can demonstrate that this was done by law enforcement without a warrant. While I'm sure we already have A happening as we type, I doubt that B & C could ever happen, at least, not for a few years.
However, I wonder if Congress itself could argue that they have automatic standing because their bill, signed into law by the President, was instantly negated by the President's signing statement, contravening Congress' Constutional authority.
Any Constitutional lawyers out there?
