  • "Holding yourself to a higher standard"..? Jesus H. Christ, lighten up.

    [Read the article: It's a man's world]

Last year I bought a Prius. Loved it. Great mileage, fun gadget. By November I was worried that my testes were going to vanish. I bought a HUGE pickup truck. VERY manly. I love it. It gets shitty mileage, but I can throw a case of beer and a bag of charcoal in the bed and roll. It's better than religion.

As I raise my son, I try to convince him that A) life isn't fair B) you can be TOO nice and end up getting shit on and C) civilization is something of a noose. Better to think and act abrasively rather than stand there clueless with your jaw slack waiting to get raped. A little killer instinct isn't a bad thing.

Everyone and everything is a predator, and you're dinner. If you're dainty, you die. Marriage is a trap for guys. Nice guys are victims. It's not a crime to share this knowledge. It ought to be a crime to try and convince guys otherwise, however.

Quiche and green tea? Or steak and a beer? I'll be outside by the barbecue.

  • Diebold e-voting machines and Blackwell's owning Diebold stock

[Read the article: Was the 2004 election stolen? No.]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

http://www.blackboxvoting.com and http://www.blackboxvoting.org are both fascinating resources for e-voting shenanigans.

Did you know a chimpanzee -a zoo animal - can be trained to hack Diebold's e-voting machines? Watch the videotape!

No paper trail? Although Diebold's e-voting machines HAVE PRINTERS INSTALLED? Talk about mountains of bullshit. Honestly, a violent revolution is called for when there's this kind of bullshit...

Interesting that salon.com and Farhad Manjoo have such a sour attitude, nay, a predetermined outcome for this story.

If the votes aren't counted accurately, then people have no duty to obey the falsely-elected leaders nor to pay taxes for their corporate wars.

  • The reader that wrote "stick to cats" is someone to listen to.

[Read the article: I'm 23 but I don't have everything I want yet]

Obviously a wise soul. Listen to their sage council. Love is an illusion.

  • The Republican avalanche of hate mail slamming Busby

[Read the article: All eyes on San Diego]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Has been more than enough to make me want to vote for her even if I were the dumbest, most conservative ex-military bonehead in San Diego. The GOP appears to be as desperate as a junkie to hold on to the pork barrel conveyor belt system set up in the 50th District.

Why are we having this stupid election? Because the incumbent was such a retarded fascist scumbag that he openly accepted bribes, no doubt perceiving nothing wrong with his way of doing business. He was an ideal candidate for this braindead part of southern California: corrupt, stupid, happily ignorant and not about to generate any new brain cells. Dumb as dirt and proud of it. Another asshole wrapped in the flag.

I hope that Busby wins tomorrow. Seems like a nice woman. I doubt that she'll fit into the culture of corruption in DC the way that "Duke" Cunningham fit in. Which is apparently what has the GOP foaming at the mouth with veins standing out on its neck.

As for the description of this area, "sleepy beach towns" no longer exist and haven't for 25 years. People are packed in like sardines, traffic is a fucking nightmare 24/7, the cost of living is obscenely high, civic planning is unheard of, sports clubs turn our politicians into mindless whores... But, hey, the weather's nice...

  • I ought to add

[Read the article: All eyes on San Diego]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

That Bilbray isn't a complete scumbag out of the gate... I mean, he's no Bob Filner (the bottom of the barrel)... but he's just another idealogue and I assume that the GOP sees him as a plug of clay, ready and willing to be shaped by ye olde military-industrial complex.

  • Cleaning up Ohio

[Read the article: Times columnist: Democracy was "left for dead" in Ohio]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

How many Republicans would have to be shot in the head in order for Ohio to be free from corruption? Ohio's descended into the realm of kleptocracy -- corruption doesn't need to hide, it's the order of the day.

How about having each voter run a credit card validation as a vote? ie "buying" a $0.01 vote for either candidate -- credit card companies seem to be able to keep accurate tallies, as opposed to the Diebold e-voting machines, which appear to have been built with monkey business in mind.

The only good e-voting machine executive is a dead one. Is vote fraud not a hanging offense?

  • The National Observer had an interesting POV back in '75...

    [Read the article: Starving season]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    Let 'em starve.

We feed this generation of African stick babies and what will they produce? (pause for dramatic effect) MORE African stick babies!

Who look adorable on late-night television commercials and who will grow up to be not so adorable, particularly when they take up arms.

Rats in a contained environment will breed until they don't have enough resources to support themselves -- they'll have reached their "carrying capacity" for their environment.

Do you know many US white couples who have more than two kids? Me neither, too expensive, right, no one can afford it. So we have ZPG and Africans manage to have a PERPETUAL state of crisis, starvation, war, et cetera.

I hate to call a spade a oh, shit, that's so non-PC, forget it... I'm going to go crack open a $3 liter of Fiji water and sing the Star-Spangled Banner.

  • Kidnapping

    [Read the article: Reefer madness]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

After the govt took the guy's son, what was he faced with? Years of court dates and tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars, a lifetime of debt? Perhaps going out with a bang made sense. Live on your knees? Die on your feet.

Ever get the feeling that the government has little or nothing to do with the people? It's some kind of subset of the population with guns and customizable legal authority?

  • Depends on the Unocal pipeline...

[Read the article: All unquiet on the eastern front]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Is the pipeline in place? Then things are fine. Pre-9/11/01 the entire world knew that the US intended to replace the Afghan government. One false flag operation and Dubya got the green light he wanted to basically stick our big military dick anywhere he felt like.

Is there a Vegas line on how many minute Karzai would live once his private-US-goon-squad security guards are gone..? Love the hat, btw.

Ask the Brits or the Russians how their Afghan occupations went... there was a simple, stark lesson there the US refused to pay any attention to...
