Original article: "I fear for my country"

@steveinmidtown -- The Democrats aren't interested in victory

Not any more than doctors and big pharma are interested in CURING cancer -- there's money to be made in TREATING cancer, but a CURE would not be good for busines.

I'm not sure that the Democrats are in this or any other race to win -- but by running candidates they keep a valid third-party from rising in national popularity. Yet they do nothing, they're like a GOP-light choice in the best light and they are starkly codependent in the worst light. Hello, Speaker Pelosi. Haven't you done a bang-up job?

The fix is in. The election is a waste of time. Nothing will change. Sit back and enjoy the ride. Why isn't Obama attacking McSame and Caribou Barbie? Why bother? They don't want or need a horse race.

Change, reform... yeah, right. Just after a few more decades of PRECISELY THE SAME CORRUPT CRAP FROM GOVERNMENT YOU'VE ENJOYED SINCE THE END OF WWII. Oh, and hey, thanks for bailing out those huge banks for us, love you guys, mean it.

Change... chuckle...

Facts don't matter

God bless those who bother to keep track of what is true, but let's face it: the truth doesn't matter. People glaze over within three seconds -- they cannot be bothered to care what is or is not true.

The PR, the glossy photos, the camera flashes -- sound bites -- has replaced substance.

Why worry about what's true or not? Obama needs to pile on a steaming shitpile of patriotic bullshit and BURY his opponents if he wants to win.

But lately I'm thinking that victory is not the goal of the Democrats. They exist to prevent a viable third party from gaining popular support in this country, a third party that might actually change things for the better.

Chargers curse

The first three or four or six games of each season, no matter how well they're playing, the Chargers LOSE -- last week at the literal last second, this week on a BAD CALL as was noted.

Fair? Nah. Curse? Yes, I think so -- the Chargers appear doomed to lose the first half-dozen games of the season by the thinnest possible margins.

Next topic: Rams. Christ almighty, I'm ready to dump DirecTV and their "Sunday Ticket" package since the Rams utterly SUCK.

Audio solution?

Is there some way to select which announcer mics you want to hear on a broadcast? Can Tony's mic be deselected?

What's a false-flag attack?

And why didn't that nice man who owned the WTC get to collect for TWO separate "terrorist" attacks on 9/11/01? There were two planes! It's a shame he didn't get to own the buildings very long, I'm sure he had a plan to remove all the asbestos from both WTC towers, even though that would have cost more to do than the buildings were worth...

I visualize a literal MOUNTAIN of evidence regarding 9/11/01 and two idiots are discussing "terrorists" while they stand in front of it...

Controlling language is controlling thought

The older I get, the more I realize that language I'm discouraged from using is probably the only really effective language I can employ to cut through the thick waxy veneer modern media has sprayed over everything.

If Obama were to casually drop something like "McCain is a fucking geezer" off-mic, it would be EFFECTIVE. "Sarah Palin is an underqualified bimbette."

People that want to edit your vocabulary do not have your best interests at heart. Fuck 'em.

Being PC means the moral high ground is YOURS! ALL YOURS!!!!

So let's celebrate our DIFFERENTLY ABLED citizens! This reminds me of that "There are no winners or losers in this game" type of what-planet-are-you-from child rearing which produces kids that are blindsided by the real world once they are released from whatever Montessori-vegan-peace-love-habitat they've been programmed in.

When you bake a cookie that doesn't exactly turn out right, do you try and incorporate it into the rest of the cookies? Build up its self-esteem? Find a place for it to fit and contribute to society?

Or that great Woody Allen line from "Annie Hall" when he's summoned to vanquish a spider and Diane Keaton's character asks "Did you.. kill it?" and Woody Allen's character answers "Did you want me to rehabilitate it?"

Caribou Barbie (or her daughter) carried their Down's Syndrome kid to term. How nice. Now what? [shaking head]

What happened to all that GOP hot air about "free markets"?

Let AIG fail, let it hit the pavement with a nice sickening SPLAT. Free market economics? OK, you fucked up, now you die. Do not pass "Go" and do not collect $85 BILLION DOLLARS.

You gambled foolishly and lost. Now pay up.

Original article: No charges for Foley

The Rule of Law? Yeah, right.

'may contain legislative information that is constitutionally privileged ... and because Mr. Foley has not waived that privilege ... we cannot simply give you access.'

WTF? "Constitutionally privileged"? I don't know if you've been keeping up with current events, but the Constitution has been used as toilet paper since Bush43 was appointed by Fat Tony and the Supremes back around Christmastime 2000.

When a system is completely, thoroughly shot through-and-through with corruption and an endless supply of weasel words to squirm and lie out of any situation, should it not be shut down entirely? SHUN the Federal government, return power to the states... bulldoze every square inch inside the DC Beltway and salt the earth a la Carthage.

Fix it? Burn it and then bury it. Congressional reps, museums, everything. Burn it and then bury it. Start over elsewhere.

"Conspiracy Theories"?

Oh -- you meant "Suppressed History".

Friday, September 19, 2008 03:45 PM

OK, let me get this straight...

Banking gamblers win and get to keep their loot. When they fuck up, us taxpayers pick up the tab? Uh... that doesn't sound like much of a deal to me.

Government + Corporatism = Fascism.

How about if we flatly refuse this stupid deal and have the global house of cards (DERIVATIVES) come crashing down? You want a free market economy?

Say, which prison is the ex-CEO of AIG in, exactly?
