@Doomsday: Yes, they ARE above the law
[Read the article: Best. Bailout. Ever.]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]They write the laws. No corporation or bank which has donated enough to GOP candidates (or Democratic ones, for that matter) and has played the game is seriously going to have to answer for what they've allowed to take place.
Laws are for little people -- you and me. Not for corporations.

He's a dottering old fool with zero Reagan Teflon Coating
[Read the article: Another McCain gaffe]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]A brittle old psychopathic fascist who's available, and always has been, to the highest bidder. Facts? Details? Unimportant trivialities.

Archer Daniels Midland 100% supports corn for biofuel!!!
[Read the article: Best. Bailout. Ever.]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Which shouldn't be a surprise. Corn, however, is not the best candidate for biofuel. But if you head a corporation which makes money by selling corn, then... it's PERFECT.
And how convenient that you have the ear of Washington DC!

Our military steals resources from third-world peoples
[Read the article: What journalists should be asking about the no-bid Iraqi oil deals]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Oops. Was I not supposed to notice that? Our military is a tool of our beloved corporations.
No-bid Iraq oil deals, gee whiz. Color me shocked.

That's the best spin they could come up with?
[Read the article: Lizza defends New Yorker cover]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]That's sad.

Story should have ended:
[Read the article: My wife left me because the dolphins at Sea World gave me an erection]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]As soon as the kids were worn out we headed home by way of Fabric World where my wife picked up some gray and white fabric and other sewing notions and by midnight had assembled herself a stunning dolphin costume.
She stood in the doorway and emitted a high-pitched dolphin sound, suggestively swaying her dorsal fin. I was smitten. We bred in the bathtub until dawn.
The sex has never been better nor our relationship stronger.

The way to do is to be
[Read the article: I'm afraid I'm doing the wrong art]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Do what you feel like doing without hesitation or a second thought. Be glad you have something to express. Create while you're still alive. As Garrison Keilor says at the end of his Writer's Notebook radio segments, "Do good work."
Gone are the days / we stopped to decided
Where we should go / we just ride -
Not a dime's worth of difference between them
[Read the article: Flip-flopping to the White House]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Osama holds out the illusory promise of "change" while McSame clearly intends to continue buttraping the Constitution without missing a stroke from Bush43's evil, illegitimate misadministrations.
McSame: "We'll stay in Iraq for a hundred years! Yeeeeha!"
Osama: "I need to evaluate our occupation of Iraq."
The FISA flip-flop was so bad that I wish they'd run Hillary, and I hate her as much as I'd hate a child rapist/murderer. Evil woman.
We just need to snuff out that tiny spark of hope for "change" that suckers people into voting for duplicitous weasels every election.
"They gave us no choices, just one shade of grey."

Baseball? They still play?
[Read the article: First-half predictions: Predictably bad]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I thought the '94 strike ended professional baseball. And what's this "Los Angeles" Angels bullshit? Anaheim is no where near LA.

What a stupid idea
[Read the article: McCain suggests longer gas tax holiday]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Didn't Dole suggest some dumb idea when he was running for President? How about fixing the US economy so the dollar BUYS something?
Duuuh... yuh, let's drill offshore and in the Alaskan wilderness and allow US oil corporations to sell the crude @ OPEC prices... good, good...
How about scuttling fiat currency, identifying and prosecuting those who have perpetrated that crime on the US economy, and, like Russia, FIXING our economy -- I wish the dollar was as strong as the ruble. And backed by gold, not air.
McCain is an over-the-hill fascist who's receptive to any programming that comes in the door backed by enough money.
And he's got the Manchurian vote wrapped up tight. I can tell the Queen of Diamonds / by the way she shines

@ Elephantman
[Read the article: McCain suggests longer gas tax holiday]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]BUYING the oil we're trying to steal from Iraq would be far cheaper than the trillion USD plus debacle going on now, with a nice frosting of depleted uranium for everyone in a thousand-kilometer radius.
-
Another impressive column.
[Read the article: Rendering public opinion irrelevant ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I mean that sincerely. Great work.
-
@Elephantman: Double-secret probation

[Read the article: The honorable centrist Joe Lieberman]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Go together like rape and mayhem.

Goons great and small
[Read the article: Exposing Bush's historic abuse of power]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]>During the Iran-Contra congressional hearings in 1987, questions to Reagan aide Oliver North about the database were ruled out of order by the committee chairman, Democratic Sen. Daniel Inouye, because of the "highly sensitive and classified" nature of FEMA's domestic security operations.
Inouye = In No Way was Dan going to stir up any dust whatsoever -- he's a team player. Kind of a Pelosi forerunner. We'll just smooth it over and pretend it never happened. It's not as if Bush41 was running a government within a government or anything...
The rabbit hole that PROMIS and Inslaw reside in is fantastically deep.
-
@Boston_Patriot
[Read the article: Exposing Bush's historic abuse of power]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Impeachment? That's just for dalliances with portly pepperpots, don't you know.
Wasn't the Bush family run out of Britain following some sort of failed coup attempt? Didn't Bush's evil grandfather attempt to stage a coup in this country? I think I heard something about it on Fox News.

Stickies?
[Read the article: A stickies situation]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Wow, I thought Stickies had been left behind three or four OS iterations ago...
-
Microsoft? User friendly?
[Read the article: User friendly]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It is to laugh.

@zenwick - your figures are absurd
[Read the article: The Obama show lands in Israel]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]But you already know that, so I won't waste time cutting and pasting.
How many "loans" to Israel have ever been repaid? It's an absurdly large river of cash that flows without end to Israel, now we're in Iraq because Israel wanted us to dissolve that country. Since we're there, they may as well whack Iran, since Iran would have to go through Iraq to get to Israel.
http://desertpeace.wordpress.com/2008/07/24/photo-of-the-day-24708-obama-at-the-wall/
Did Obama visit the Apartheid Wall? No, the Wailing Wall.
I'm sure he received as warm a welcome as Condi Rice.
-
@zenwick - upon further reflection
[Read the article: The Obama show lands in Israel]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Cut to the chase: Israel was a BAD IDEA and we have been accomplices to the crime. The US ought to cut off ALL aid to Israel. Not our country, not our problem. It was a stupid idea to begin with.
Jews and Zionists/Neocons needs to be clearly identified as two separate groups and Zionists ought to be considered dangerous foreign nationals. Any and all "dual-citizenship" types (Like Mike Chertoff) ought to be removed from government service.
How many Jews are serving in Congress, exactly? I know it's a record number. In whose interests are they serving?
America. Israel. Choose one.

You have got to be kidding me
[Read the article: Walking on air]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Never heard of this guy or his bizarre feat. I know that I feel like vomiting whenever I see a photo of the WTC towers and seeing someone walking on a wire in the air between them is even worse.
