While I didn't have the vocabulary at the time

I found the Krofft shows repulsive in a particularly disturbing way -- the stillborn über-creepy failed-puppet-show designs with nightmarish colors coupled with insipid plots and acting were like some toxic by-product of all that shitty late 60s design, avocado-colored appliances, things like that. Unloved, artificial landscapes and characters produced the feeling that the actors must have hated what they were doing while realizing that television had hit a new low, and an unspeakable one at that.

I agree with an earlier writer that a kid's show like "Wallace and Ladmo" was infinitely funnier and more entertaining during its brief run. It had a kind of self-effacing fun that was never going to be found in any Krofft creation. I feel like taking another shower and changing clothes just thinking about any of that Krofft stuff.

Compare the atrocious Krofft body of work with the beloved Pee Wee's Playhouse from the early 90s.

Isn't Obama a CFR member?

You're expecting change? Expect more of the same and your disappointment will be lessened. Wake me if he goes to war with the Federal Reserve or dismantles the IRS. I'm not going to hold my breath until the last US solider is out of Iraq. And all of that is if he gets into office.

McCain versus Obama. I think I'll plan on drinking heavily later this year.

Which lobby did Joe Lieberman bring to the party?

If you'll recall, McCain's campaign was pretty much dead in the water until Joe breathed life into it.

Think the Vicki Iseman revelation has anything in keeping with Chondra Levy or Monica Lewinsky?

Hamas: democratically elected government of Palestine

RAMALLAH, West Bank, Jan. 26 2007-- The radical Islamic movement Hamas won a large majority in the new Palestinian parliament, according to official election results announced Thursday, trouncing the governing Fatah party in a contest that could dramatically reshape the Palestinians' relations with Israel and the rest of the world.

Outstanding article, as usual. Is Hamas not the democratically-elected government of Palestine? Or is it a case of Israel being able to disregard election results it doesn't care for?

Will the horrible, willfully moronic comedies every go away?

Deliberately dumbing-down an already imbelic public...

So how's the Cheney impeachment resolution coming along?

I heard that the Dems offered Dennis his seat in exchange for dropping impeachment. Then double-crossed him once he did drop it. Nice.

How is it that the Democrats haven't impeached Cheney or Bush43 yet? Why are we still occupying Iraq? The country as a whole reminds me of an anesthetized animal. Don't expect anything and you won't be disappointed.

Solar panels on every hybrid car roof

Give me the standard corporate line about how it'll never work, it'll never pay, et cetera...

Rather than pissing away three trillion dollars killing Iraqis who never did a damn thing to us, how about funding solar panels to generate electricity? To my acid-damaged way of thinking, that seems like an investment worth the capital outlay.

The next time you hear a suit telling you how some "alternative" energy scheme will not and cannot work, find a Marine to throw him in a rocky gully.

The US would do well

To examine its parasite-host relationship with Israel, a country with a secret nuclear arsenal. Israel is not the fifty-first state nor is it any kind of 'sister' nation.

Israel is a foreign country with a bizarre amount of influence over US foreign policy.

When you hear "Neo-Con" think "agent of a foreign power."

Good Democrat! Roll over! Good! Roll over again! Good! Roll over again! Good!

Stories like this one make me happy to donate money to Cindy Sheehan's campaign.

Pelosi et al ought to be hanged as an undercard to Bush43 and Cheney's hangings, but I suppose I'll have to settle for helping to vote them out (or in the case of Feinstein, Cheney and Bush43, watching them ride into the sunset laden with loot and escaping with not even a whiff of tar or feathers).

NY Post factoid. Italics mine.

Mark Brener, the 62-year-old alleged ring leader from Monmouth Junction, NJ, along with his girlfriend and alleged top madam, 23-year-old Cecil "Katie" Suwal, , from Cliffside Park, NJ, both face up to five years in prison on prostitution charges and 20 years behind bars for money laundering.

Authorities raided Brener's home early yesterday and found $600,000 in cash and 19,000 in Euros in various safes, prosecutors said.

Brener, they said, had two Israeli passports in addition to his US passport.

Stick to reviewing household gadgets

Arguing about whether or not two skyscrapers succumbed to "Arab terrorists" and collapsed at near free-fall speeds right on their own footprints is boring and pointless.

Photos like the one of a girder clearly cut by thermite or video showing thermite pouring out of the WTC must have been Photoshopped by "Arab terrorists" flying around on their magic carpets, right? It's as dumb as arguing that JFK's head snapped back due to one magic bullet.

WTF is wrong with you? The "official story" is nonsense and has been since 9/11/01. The shoddy cover-up (Oops. I meant "investigation".), the rush to recycle forensic evidence offshore, et cetera, et cetera -- yet a certain percentage of the population will believe whatever Fox News and CNN feeds them because the horror of more plausible explanations is too painful to grasp and accept.

"Because we all interpret images according to our biases." Farhad, feel free to refuse assignments that will find you painted as a jackass.
