Original article: Who will save the economy?

Voters get to add their 2 cents?

Really? On which topics?

The other shoe hasn't dropped re: the Derivatives debacle, some $51 TRILLION (more than all the money in the world!), largely held in off-balance-sheet shadow investments. Ooh la la! Talk about a party! Who's going to pick up THAT tab?

Blaming ordinary Americans for signing ARMs is pathetic. Could only appeal to low-IQ moose hunters. Wolf hunters, whatever. When does the GOP try and blame Clinton?

Back to the voting thing: do I get to vote for anything that matters? Like having the Treasury Department take over the Federal Reserve? Can I vote to have Pelosi executed for dereliction of duty? Can I vote IN STARK TERMS to get the living fuck out of Iraq alert? Can I vote on impeachment? Can I vote on anything that matters other than replacing Bush43 with our first negro President and hoping that he's not just another standard-issue asshole who's going to "stay the course" no matter how fucked-up that course may be?

Does voting change ANYTHING at all? Because I've been voting for thirty years and I'll be damned if I can name so much as one single issue where voting has made any difference.

Dismantle the Fed, have the Treasury Dept. take it over

Having a PRIVATE BANK print money backed by nothing and then lending it to the US Treasury is starkly insane.

Cmon Mr. Bama, sir... strike the root.

@eggplant43

I'm with you. Gardening is so much more than growing plants.

"UFO" doesn't mean "alien"

There are flying objects which are unidentified. So, good for the USAF or Soviets or whomever.

Until a UFO lands down in the quad @ MIT and little green men come out to say hi, a UFO is an unidentified flying object, period.

Am I the only person in North America to have read any Afghan history?

No ruler since Alexander the Great has held on to Afghanistan. The US is repeating VERBATIM the mistakes it made in Korea and Vietnam.

Karzai was and remains a Unocal employee, guarded by Blackwater or some other Praetorian Guard. As fits the pattern of the past sixty years, the US military exists to squash third world people in order to steal their resources.

Bush43 and Cheney ought to be relocated at once to downtown Kabul to conclude their criminal terms of office. Kind of keep them on their toes, bring them closer to the action.

So after Dubya declares martial law

What's the best concealable weapon to kill a soldier with in order to steal his battle rifle? Hey bro how's it goin' you want a cigarette beer joint? Aim for the spinal cord.

Wait WAIT I meant to write that I'm sure that our new monetary czar "Lucky" Paulson has things well under control and that our paper money will continue to be worth, well, next to nothing...

Soup... gold... cartridges...

Lehman's CDS auction tomorrow should prove edifying

Has any bank come clean on just how severe their exposure is to worthless paper?

You might want to hit the ATM on your way to work for the sake of, uh, convenience...

(and cash in your investment and retirement accounts and the kid's college fund.)

How about nationalizing the Federal Reserve

and having the Treasury Department take over operations? That way we might eventually have money backed by something other than (hot) air.

Realtors are parasites

They ought to be ashamed to take money for doing nothing.

IT'S CLINTON'S FAULT! IT'S CLINTON'S FAULT!!

hahahahaha. Couldn't resist that -- you know @ some point Palin will be spouting some version of that or another.

Isn't it GREAT how we're somehow able to afford an expensive occupation of Iraq @ a couple billion a month? How do we afford this all? It's amazing, isn't it? Makes a fellow proud to be an American.

Both of the candidates supported the bailout.

Where are the exits? I want to find one now.

Original article: Could you be a hockey mom?

Minivans

The soccer moms (and dads) here were nearly always humorless, big, fat, dumb and really, really into whatever sport was at hand. The soccer moms drove dirty American-made minivans or SUVs which often had Christian stickers or decorations on them. Nothing clever or even humorous ever escaped their rubbery lips. They were all 100% for the invasion and occupation of Iraq. Lots of Christians.

Does anyone have the slightest faith in Bernanke?

Just asking.

Original article: Wall Street shudders, again

Mainstream media drops "bailout" like a hot potato

What public anger? LOOK! OJ IS GUILTY! HOLY SHIT!!

Bread and circuses, my friends.

@marko1965

The Chinese rightly observed that no dynasty remains robust after two hundred years -- so the US has been decaying for the past thirty years, at least...

Thank goodness we've relieved the banks of their worthless paper

And if we all rub our forelegs together and sing Kumbaya then maybe someday all those wildly overpriced pieces of paper will become worth their insanely inflated face values.

But if the banks believed that, they would simply have held onto the paper themselves, yes?

Oh my, we've been had. Again. But that was the object of the exercise, was it not?

Original article: Ask Pablo

Moving towards a solution

Might include immunity from prosecution for Monsanto et al in order to see their lab notes on the effects of their various ag chemicals to see if it includes detrimental effects on bee colonies.

Corporations cannot tell the truth without immunity from prosecution. It would be a good first step to save the bees on a larger scale. Witness Germany's recent banning of certain ag chemicals with an eye towards bee colony preservation.
