The Senator from Tel Aviv

Is a duplicitous, treacherous little shit who ought to pack up and move to the country where his allegiance is strongest. That would not include the USA. Maybe he can conduct a search for Bernie Madoff's stolen funds while he's in Israel. Oops, wait, that's not PC.

One has to wonder about the demographics in Connecticut if Emperor Palpatine is re-elected to any office running as a Democrat. Lieberman has the personality of old brake fluid and is not someone I would trust to watch my children.

CHOOSE ONLY ONE:

A) The United States of America

B) Israel

A test which we would do well to give to every creature in DC.

@marktgarten

(Suave handle btw) My point is that the US occupying Iraq and/or Afghanistan WILL 100% CREATE an "insurgency" -- we ARE the problem. It's THEIR country.

We need to GET OUT of THEIR country.

how to make "guerrillas"

Invade and occupy their country.

How to end "guerrillas":

Get the fuck out of Afghanistan.

It's all about stealing oil, isn't it? The US military is a tool of US corporations. Ask United Fruit about their humanitarian work in Central and South America.

And as for the tidy summation of 9/11/01, I'd say that more and more people are rejecting the tidy CNN prewritten history of that day and asking questions that are addressed and answered more honestly on the Internet than in the local paper. Which is why newspapers are fading away.

Israeli spying inside the US is a more compelling subject than "accidental guerrillas."

"Songbird" McCain is a snotty son and grandson of Admirals

He's never worked an honest day in his life, he sang like a bird in Hanoi (hence his nickname), he was a shitty pilot (lost five US aircraft), is a Professional Politician which means he's been for sale to the highest bidder for 30+ years.

He's a professional jerk, a brittle old man. He was dumb enough to accept the GOP nomination during an election when a GOP victory was less likely than... well, a GOP victory was just not too likely.

Republicans really ARE as stupid as you think they are.

I could do her job and do it better.

And as for the snotty Obama-comin'-for-the-guns, pay attention to the proposed identification of each bullet (http://ammunitionaccountability.org/default.asp)... if they can't take the guns, they'll make ammunition difficult to obtain...

Why are Republicans so fucking stupid? How do they avoid that little morsel of self-awareness?

@Gigi3 -- Dr. Zack seems to be coated with Teflon

It's as if the FBI is determined not to investigate Dr. Zack.

Another brilliantly-written column, Mr. Greenwald. I admire your focus and effort.

Industrial hemp applications deserve development

Cloth, paint, fuel... the list of products that can be manufactured from hemp is a long one. Cellulose, biomass... industrial hemp is a large missing piece of our economy.

Please locate and read Jack Herer's "The Emperor Wears No Clothes" (ISBN 1878125028) which will answer your every question.

Prying the evil, cold claws of the government off of military-style policing and the private prison system, to say nothing of lawyers and judges who would have to perform a genuine service to society rather than participating in the unwinnable, un-American "war on some drugs" will be a job.

"We're going to cut your budget!" "WAAAAAAAAH!!!!"

Dope should never have been made illegal. Read the book. Learn.

Original article: We're really leaving Iraq

The invasion was illegal. The occupation is illegal.

The thing is, we're the biggest bully on the block. And we don't listen to anyone (well, except Israel). We were wrong to invade Iraq, we were wrong to have Iraq's popular leader hanged via a kangaroo court in a war zone, we are wrong to remain in Iraq.

Iraq never did a darn thing to us. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11/01. Iraq never had "WMDs" -- but, you know what? Israel has a nuclear ARSENAL, with missiles and missile-capable submarines. Why don't we invade Israel and depose their psycho religious leadership and get rid of their WMDs? Hey, we're in the neighborhood -- let's clean up Israel, some rogue nation which actually has WMDs. How about it?

The world would be a better place for it. We could remain in Israel forever to maintain the peace. Great idea! Send my Nobel Peace prize FedEx, plz.

Original article: Karzai won't leave

Would Karzai survive even an hour without Blackwater/Xe mercs guarding him?

I don't think he would.

Get out now and preserve some capital

Those "bargain" stocks from six months ago have dropped another 30%. Let the Rush listeners clean up... the Dow is heading to zero.

Mayor Donna Frye of San Diego

Two typical bonehead male GOP habitues of San Diego politics were duking it out for the office of Mayor and Democratic Council Member Donna Frye entered the race. And won.

Oh. But wait.

Apparently some obscure state, STATE law requires a write-in candidate to have the little bubble next to their name filled in just so and the candidate's name spelled just so -- enough ridiculous small ant-sized dumb rules to give the election to one of our usual military-industrial no-brain male GOP candidates.

Republicans are why you chop the head off of a rattlesnake to make certain it's dead.

Original article: The mother of all budgets

Taxing and spending

Do I smell pork? So did Obama grease the palms/wheels that needed greasing with that "stimulus" package? Why do I hear about "smaller government" but it never seems to happen? As if a monstrous entity is going to one day say "Gee, I'm a monster, I think I'll pull back..."

Could we go back to being 50 states instead of an imperialistic global superpower? Our cops could be neighborhood types instead of militarized goons. Maybe we don't need 30K nuclear warheads.

Is it happening? No? More of the same? Really? What a surprise.

Tidy attempt to spin Madoff's wrongdoing

Since following the money (to Israel) is forbidden, let's ask questions about how many others were complicit in Madoff's activities -- he didn't do it alone, not on such a scale and not for such a long time.

Any chance whatsoever anything resembling justice will be served in this case? Think we'll find the $1.3 trillion missing on Dov Zakheim's watch @ DoD?
