[Read more letters about this article: Here]With all due respect, regarding Senator Salazar...
I've tried emails, I've written letters, I've gone through Credo, the ACLU's FISA floods, and his direct Senate comment link. I've been nice. I've been pleading. I've been 'technical.' I've quoted compelling sources. In desperation, I've been nasty and shaming. Nothing has worked. Nothing. The man is intractable. He will not budge. On Monday, I will call his office yet one more time. However, I am not insane, therefore, I do not expect different results. He is a Bush Dog. Period. I keep after him only because I feel it is my civic duty to do so, and I'd be too embarrassed to face Glenn's community if I didn't. But, when counting votes, I recommend you count Salazar out. There is no hope to be found there.

Addendum
[Read the article: Today]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Having written Salazar all-but-off, I don't want to discourage a possible ten (?) new Colorado readers from trying. I have no idea how many voices Salazar has heard from. Because Colorado is not a particularly populous state, in terms of absolute numbers, I expect not many. And, note. I did say I would be in touch with his office on Monday. I have a note on the table that reminds me to Bang Head Here. I always feel better after I stop. ;-)

PRINCETON, NJ -- The latest USA Today/Gallup poll finds that a majority of Americans continue to express opposition to the war in Iraq, attitudes that are unchanged in the last two months. According to the Jan. 30-Feb. 2 poll, 57% of Americans say it was a mistake for the United States to send troops to Iraq, while 41% say it was not a mistake. Those numbers are identical to what Gallup measured in late November/early December.

New Poll: Americans Concerned About Long-Term Impact of Damaged US Reputation Abroad
Implications include further economic setbacks
(CSRwire) WASHINGTON, DC – February 1, 2008 - A new poll shows that a vast majority of Americans is concerned about the continuing decline in the United States' reputation overseas, but also that Americans are optimistic that individuals can take action to address the decline.
The poll of 1,099 US adults was taken January 14-15 for the non-profit organizations World Learning and the Aspen Institute. It finds that, although discussion of foreign policy and the war in Iraq may have waned in the current presidential primary season, Americans still worry that the country's damaged reputation is harming America’s place in the world. The majority of Americans believes that possible outcomes of a declining reputation are further economic setbacks, an increased chance of a terrorist attack, and decreased support for US foreign policy. Trying to stay...
[Read the article: Conceding John McCain's "toughness" on national security]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...within the confines of McCain's toughness (I know foolish thought. It's all gonna devolve into Hillary vs Barack eventually.) one wonders about:
Less well known are McCain's promises, if elected, to expand the Army and the Marine Corps to 900,000 soldiers and Marines from a planned strength of about 750,000; to form a U.S.-led League of Democracies to act when the United Nations can't or won't; and to form a new government unit, patterned after the World War II-era Office of Strategic Services, "to fight terrorist subversion" and "take risks that our bureaucracies today rarely consider taking." (from the McClatchy cite upthread)
Where does McCain think these additional soldiers will come from? Conscription? The military is having trouble meeting recruiting numbers now. Mid-level military officers are leaving. Or, is McCain's notion to ramp up the Blackwater numbers?

The crisis, you nitwit, is in Medicare.
