Thanks, Beth

The video clip that CNN embeds in their article (the article is linked at my sig) is the same one that Teeth Maestro had in his comments last night. CNN has slowed the film so it's easier to see what is happening. It really does look like a gunman went over the back of Bhutto's SUV and then "folds" himself. Whether that's from someone shooting the shooter, or from the SUV moving out from underneath him is hard to say - and maybe can't be said from the film. It does make one wonder. If the shooter was shot, there's another bullet wound victim out there. And, of course, the obvious question is, If Bhutto was shot, where is the gun that shot her?

*sigh*, forest for the trees

Except, of course, the shooter, presumably, is the one who detonated himself with the suicide bomb. A bullet wound, if there were one, would not be easily discerned in the resulting carnage.

Douglas Moran re smart words

Indeed. Often very smart people can take complex ideas and frame them in simple words. I think the physicist Feynman was/is noted for this.

There have been a number of folks who have critically examined Bush and his use of malaprops. Some have concluded they are very much a put-on. When Bush is not shukin' and jivin' the public or the press, his speech is clipped and to the point. There is none of the verbal stumbling, mumbling, and fumbling that encourages folks to think him dumber than a stump. Apparently, Bush tailors his language to his audience. When he wants to assume the role of the good-old-boy and folksy commoner, his choice of words are selected to reinforce that image. At other times, Bush gives no evidence of being a legacy, Gentleman's C student - in fact, very much the opposite.

WT re Anons

I agree. LWM isn't too hard to pick out - as Anon or some of the other AKAs I think he uses. I enjoy his various alters as well. There's one fairly insightful Anon (that is not LWM) whom I really enjoy, and I think legitimately feels s/he needs to remain anonymous because of their job. And, then there are the Anonymous Cowards who simply want to talk trash. Get enough of all these Anons side-by-side and I don't find them difficult to distinguish.

WT re Nature

I wish I could forward this email I received to you. Someone in Chruchill, Manitoba took an extraordinary group of pictures of a polar bear than came into camp for several days to play with his sled dogs. From the shots it looks like a full grown bear - probably fairly young. And, the dogs are chained up. I do not believe these pictures are photo shopped. The email is one a friend shared and she knows the photographer. There is something about this email program that will not include the photographs when I try to send it. If I can figure out a way to extract the photos and save them, maybe I can re-embed them into a different email client. There is one shot of the polar bear rolling on its back for one of the dogs. Nature went a little nuts that day. It's really amazing.

ondelette

Yeah, I worry for Teeth Maestro, too. And, as the days, and his reports go on, I worry more. May the appropriate deity protect him.

William of Occam Timberman

I may have figured this out. If you (or, anyone else) wants to see these photograhs of the polar bear with the sled dog, you can email me: mkwoodward AT frii DOT com. Saved the individual images as jpegs and a test email suggests they travel effectively as attachments.

Sorry. I was a little slow. They're off, and on the way.

Pedinska re Winnie the Pooh

Yikes, you'd better try me again. I didn't get your request, and I just checked my spam filter to be sure I wasn't overlooking you.

Got ya. Off and on the way.
