Okay, then I'll risk offering one more

A Getty photographer was photographing Bhutto when the attack occurred. He has an audio and images available at CNN (see sig).

Somewhere today, long lost to memory, I read where someone speculated the nature of the attack, the details of rifle marksmanship coupled with the suicide bomb was more consistent with a domestic terrorism group than that which tends to be associated with al-Qaeda. But, now I'm way over my head - so it's time for me to (as Bebop says) hush.

Have a good night/evening. Back tomorrow.

Peggy was born in 1950. That makes her about 57? Me thinks Peggy is just jealous. Likely, Edwards has hair follicles more active than her own. Maybe if someone would introduce Peggy to hair extensions she could move past this neurosis.

And, farnsworth. Thanks a bunch! I'm now scrubbing coffee off my monitor. I held it through Bebop's hair on fire, but lost it with the fire hose.

Oh, but they did opine on Hillary's hair back when Bill was running for president. It was all about the headbands Hillary wore. IIRC, it wasn't too long after Bill was elected that Hillary cut her shoulder length hair to the length it is now.

Earworm Alert!

Long as God can grow it? Who can I blame for the fact that the lyrics to Hair from the musical are now cycling through memory. Dang it!

Good misery loves company.

Gimme head with hair

Long beautiful hair

Shining, gleaming,

Streaming, flaxen, waxen

Give me down to there hair

Shoulder length or longer

Here baby, there mama

Everywhere daddy daddy

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair

Flow it, show it

Long as God can grow it

My hair

Let it fly in the breeze

And get caught in the trees

Give a home to the fleas in my hair

A home for fleas

A hive for bees

A nest for birds

There ain't no words

For the beauty, the splendor, the wonder

Of my...

I've now become as vapid as Peggy Noonan. I'm out of here!

ps. apologies for the scrambled line spaces.

ondelette, or anyone else

Matt Yglesias has a couple of embedded links in his post today (linked at my sig) that might be of interest; specifically, one for Brian Katulis of The Center for American Progress. Among the others is a link to an LA Times op-ed piece written in November by Fatima Bhutto which wasn't very complimentary to her aunt.

Juan Cole's post today in his Informed Comment also has some good information. http://www.juancole.com/ I've seen Juan respond to comments left at his blog. I don't know if he responds to letters at Salon.

And, thank you

I hadn't been back to the Lahore metroblog since last night. Geeze. Remind me again how important net neutrality is. You are absolutely correct. People in a democracy have the right to be wrong. Witness our own past 7 years. How much more wrong could we get? Well, I suppose, I can answer myself by arguing if we elect any of the front running Republican candidates we will (wrong)^10.

Karrsic, thanks for that link. Score one for Uncle Sam, eh? More goodwill for which we're roundly 'appreciated.'

‘Red Alert’ in Pakistan allows riot police and paramilitary police to ‘fire live rounds’ at protesters. (MSNBC)US tax dollars are funding the clampdown.

internet outages in Pakistan

Took me a bit to orient to Lahore metroblogs' comment section. Comments kicked up this (at sig):

Rioting Causes Major Telecom Disruption Across Pakistan
With a few telephone exchanges burned in the Sindh Province, PTCL ITI backbone has been out of order. PTCL's ITI connectivity to the Internet Backbone is in excess of 6 Gbps. From Islamabad at least, both DWDM rings are down at the moment. Reportedly, SDH equipment inside the telephone exchanges has been damaged (burned!). This has also affected operations of some GSM mobile companies. This means that most of the Service Providers and Businesses running off the ITI backbone are down!...

Thanks for bringing us up to speed on your friends. I was just getting ready to ask when I noticed your comment. Keep us posted, okay? I keep thinking of them...

I found this reference in a Boston Globe article towards the end of the third page...

As she waved, gunshots sounded and she was hit in the head and neck, aides said. Bhutto sank back into her seat, just as a suicide bomber detonated explosives to the left of her vehicle. People inside the SUV said her face and neck were badly bloodied, apparently from the bullets. As blood poured from her body in the back seat she lost consciousness, aides said, and never regained it.

The link at my sig takes you directly to the third page of the article. The byline is for a reporter for the LA Times.

I thought I remembered reading other articles that said the same thing. Are they beginning to sanitize the story? Will keep searching.

Who let in all the Clinton and Obama supporters?

Ondelette

Virtually, an identical paragraph in the Washington Post.

As she waved, three to five gunshots sounded, aides said. Bhutto sank back into her seat, just as a suicide bomber detonated explosives to the left of her vehicle. People inside the SUV said her face and neck were badly bloodied, apparently from the bullets. As blood poured from her wounds and pooled in the back seat, she lost consciousness, aides said, and never regained it.
