Of both the auditory and visual type?

  • Please. No updates.

Glenn: I just arbitrarily stopped because I couldn't take much more.

Er, good. Does that mean no updates? 'Cause I really don't think I could take much more either.

  • Nor are you, Anon. Very smart, that is.

Let me give you an assignment. Please find within recent posts where Glenn's commenters sang the praises of: Stalin, Lenin, Castro, Ho Chi Minh, Mao, or Pol Pot. And, if you don't see contradictions with this nauseous bit of tripe and nothing but hatred for Christianity within this same thread, then you really do have a reading comprehension problem.

Don't work too hard at that assignment. I already know it could take you the better part of the month and your results would be thin. I'm moving on to Glenn's new post. I'm quite sure you've pleanty of bile to share on that one too.

    Please excuse my poor manners.

RMP, IIRC you and LWM had a bit of an exchange over the timing of a constitutional convention. Mark Graber at Balkinization took up that discussion echoing LWM's point of view. Sandy Levinson has responded. Thought you might want to take a look.

    Sandy Levinson/ Compromise and utopianism/ Wednesday, December 26, 2007

    Sorry for the interruption.

Yeah, well, anyway you cut it Anon still has a reading comprehension problem. Because what Bucky said was:

I am led to believe that there are several million people in Southeast Asia that say you are wrong. The Viet Cong are indeed heroes to the people of Vietnam that saw the Viet Cong defeat the world empire.

I understand Anon wants to score points, but, in truth, Bucky1 didn't say this is what he believes. Bucky1 has qualified his assertion. It is what he's been led to believe, and thinks could be true as a consequence. There is a difference. Not that Bucky1 won't come along in 2 minutes and say it's true for himself, period/full stop. [:-)] At that point I'll stand corrected.

Jay, another nice thing about Glenn's site is just about the time it gets 'toxic' someone will come along with an antidote. Thanks, totallyblase!

And, Bebop. Generally, for the better teachers in grad school, they would like their students to move beyond them. They learned, We stand on the shoulders of giants... But, others, not so much. One always needs to select one's committee chair with an eye towards their mental health and maturity levels. Since there's nothing sane about grad work, you need to associate with a relatively balanced adult.

Yeah. The major distillers, brewers, and distributors of the same don't want to share. Although, I'd be willing to guess that the distributors might be the more flexible of the group.

How destabilized does Pakistan have to get before Cheney decides the US has a 'solution?'

If you choose to persist in following this thread you may need all of the leftover Christmas wine you, and your neighbors, have. Personally, I've defaulted to a bottle of scotch.

Others, too, have offered that we may have missed the boat by failing to allow the confederate south to secede. From time to time, I also, have wanted to cut the apron strings and wish them well. Still, not every person in the south is a social/cultural/economic/emotional/intellectual abomination. And, if they seceded, might not all of those who weren't abominable choose to leave teh south. Who would want to share a border with what was left? Forget a fence with Mexico. I'd only be uncertain whether to begin fencing off at Texas or Louisiana.

In fairness, GWB cannot be blamed on Texas. And, Cheney is from Wyoming.

I imagine there will be no lack for suspects for Bhutto's murder. Not like there aren't a few of 'em floating around.

It seems, Ahmed Rashid is a respected reporter. That he writes for the WaPo doesn't offer him any credibility, but according to Spencer Ackerman (of TalkingPointsMemo) Rashid knows more about Pakistani extremism than any other reporter. Jihad [a book Rashid wrote, I believe] is a classic. Anything he says I'd take extremely seriously. And, Digby quoted extensively from a different article of his earlier today.

FWIW, it would seem that Rashid has the opinion that Bhutto was worth a great deal more to Musharraf alive than dead. Link at my sig.

Thanks for the feedback, an update, and some background. I've been kind of feeling my way through the sources - and, bumping my shins searching for light switches. Thanks, belatedly, for your links waaaay upthread. Dawn is pretty amazing. My education continues.

Ondelette would probably find this too 'low level' for his interests, but I'll offer this blog which is getting some heavy traffic. http://www.teeth.com.pk/blog/

I have no sense of the author, but Celeste Freemon (witnessla.com), a respected journalist in LA, recommended it. Celeste did an interview with Bhutto's niece, Fatima, awhile back.

The link to Fatima's interview is at my sig if you want to look at it.
