Inspired, totally inspired, typo of the week:
Nation building, my fiends, begins at home. - Barnaby
There's a deep truth in there my fiendish friends.
Your 6th iteration of, Why the surprise that Obama is continuing the strategies of Bush...BUSH WAS RIGHT! is just as easy to scroll by your first. But, if you want to press it, I'm sure Glenn would be happy to give you some time-out, for those toddler type tactics.
What did happen to that update?
No.
But, I no longer assume they have any interest in learning anything either. Unless that learning is how to better promote and market the propaganda of the elite.
See: Greenwald, Glenn; "America's Priorities," by the Beltway elite with update.
It is a real pleasure to find you here. I've missed you!
The way the Post has balanced the equation, this global counterinsurgency campaign we're in is costing us 45,000 American lives a year. That means those troop deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan are just part of the body count. We can toss in another 45,000 Americans in on top. The way the Post figures it, that's an acceptable level of American sacrifice for our failed foreign policy.
What war would the public be willing wage for years unspecified if troop losses were 45K for each year that war was fought?
Undoubtedly, it's gonna be a long day at the O-Kay Corral.
It bothers me in ways I can't even articulate that we can speak openly of our own criminality in regard to torture, and war crimes, but flick it off like lint from a shirt cuff. It has the effect of making it some how acceptable. Mundane. Banal. Humdrum. Gives it a Yeah, so? feel. That minor transgression your commit and toss off with a regretful shrug. It makes me wildly uncomfortable, and angry, and frustrated, and furious. And, it makes me feel impotent. A feeling I hate most of all.
Doubtless, the thread will devolve as various folks yank the conversation in the direction of accusing and defending Israel. Consequent your most antagonistic IsraelFirst! cheerleaders my feelings tend to run in the direction of To hell with Israel!, but today I can thank Netanyahu for providing you with an opportunity to write this post. And, for providing me with the opportunity to affirm how horribly wrong it is to torture another human being... for any reason... any reason at all.

Why Journalists Shouldn't Be Defending Fox News

You can kick and scream all you want...
Jayzus! If that ain't a good way to characterize the behavior. I honestly don't know where you find the patience.
All of 'em.
Maybe hormone replacement therapy would help the likes of Mr. Carlson.

To Glenn for fleshing out, and making specific, the issues we were all groping toward last night. To sysprog for finding the specific language of Broun's amendment which I couldn't seem to locate. To pow wow for widening the discussion to the related concerns we could, and should, have beyond/in addition to ACORN.
I caught last night that Grayson had voted "present." It's interesting, particularly, because Florida has a stake in this legislation. It is reported that Grayson has said,
“Florida, with its 1,200 miles of coastline, has been the most vulnerable state in the country in regards to high intensity windstorms, hurricanes, or tropical storm activity, nearly doubles any other state in the total number of hurricanes and major storms on record since 1851,” said Grayson. “My amendment [to HR 3791] is an important step forward in protecting coastal populations and properties through the development of more accurate and efficient windstorm modeling and forecasting tools.”

Without further clarification from Grayson on the meaning of his vote, I've assigned it this way:
I wash my hands of this whole thing.
Matt Taibbi does a righteous rant and proposes Elizabeth Warren for President.

I'm not sure I can take any more indigestion, so I've bookmarked it for that first cup of coffee tomorrow.
I'm not keeping up. Took a time-out to check oh health care reform legislation*.
YAY! Nelliebelle1197 FTW (for the win). It can't be said more succinctly than that.
And, that's what makes Broun's (and, others like him) behavior so pernicious. They have targeted one group, who has yet to be "convicted" anywhere, of anything, but in the opinion of some specific legislators. And, it's not even necessarily that the entire entity of ACORN is suspected of being guilty of anything. Whatever malfeasance has been done, might have resulted from the actions of some isolated employees. And, if ACORN can be a target, so could any other "progressive" or "conservative" group at some point in the future.
*For those interested in the fate of a semblance of a public option, you might want to take a look at this:

Defense contractors aren't really the issue for HR 3791. In this particular instance the desire was simply to write the legislation such that ACORN would not qualify.
I'm having trouble tracking down the specific wording that was inserted or changed that constituted Broun's amendment.
This link might help understand the basic outline relative to the specific bill HR 3791:
http://cms.firehouse.com/web/online/News/House-Moves-to-Ban-ACORN-from-Fire-Grants/46$66284 [or, at sig]
In this instance the specific emphasis seems to be on "expertise." But, I'm not sure how since FEMA hadn't yet responded to Broun's request at the time that piece was written.
It's more like Broun is going after each piece of new legislation, bill by bill, to try to find a way to specifically exclude ACORN.
