OK, just read Ignatius' piece

and I concur Glenn, w/ your characterization of what Ignatius did.

I presume you're pointing to Ignatius as an example of the CW rather than due to his influence. I guess I don't pay too much attention to the Beltway media, which begs the other obvious question. Is the "influence" of these pundits waxing/waning why/how? Topic for a number of books I guess.

re: update. Hate when GG puts up stuff like that.

Now I have to go purge. I think of all the people I'd like to choke the crap out of, Joe Scabs is probably #1 on my list.

I'll differ w/ you slightly on that, GG

I read it more as "insufferable douchenozzle who really needs his ass kicked mocking 'libruls' while posturing as warrior-hero".

Speaking of which, I'm going to email something to your Salon addie you might find amusing.

I don't know enough history to participate in these discussions from that perspective.

Furthermore, I don't know how to properly root for Israel's destruction.

GG hasn't told me yet.

White House opposes court order in e-mail case

By PETE YOST – 22 hours ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Bush administration is aggressively pushing back against a federal court order instructing the most important offices in the White House to preserve all of their e-mail.

In court papers late Friday, the administration argued that a federal court has no authority to impose such a requirement on the offices of President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and the National Security Council.

It's tough for me to interpret wingnut, but I think fattagut is saying he holds Lincoln responsible for inciting the Civil War.

David StewartZ

In the U.S. Senate Ratifications document to which you linked (your first linky) submitted to the U.N - it also appears the Senate ruled out many forms of psychological torture from the def. of torture.

(1) (a) That with reference to Article 1,

the United States understands that, in order

to constitute torture, an act must be specifically

intended to inflict severe physical or

mental pain or suffering and that mental pain

or suffering refers to prolonged mental harm

caused by or resulting from: (1) the intentional

infliction or threatened infliction of

severe physical pain or suffering; (2) the

administration or application, or threatened

administration or application, of mind altering

substances or other procedures calculated

to disrupt profoundly the senses or the

personality; (3) the threat of imminent death;

or (4) the threat that another person will imminently

be subjected to death, severe physical

pain or suffering, or the administration or

application of mind altering substances or

other procedures calculated to disrupt profoundly

the senses or personality.

Bush commutes sentences of former US border agents

WASHINGTON (AP) -- In his final acts of clemency, President George W. Bush on Monday commuted the prison sentences of two former U.S. Border Patrol agents whose convictions for shooting a Mexican drug dealer ignited fierce debate about illegal immigration.

I'll swallow the "final acts" bit Tuesday afternoon.
