re:

By the way, are you aware that every day in this country, criminal convictions go up on appeal, and appellate review courts find that while Constitutional violations occured, the remaining evidence of guilt was compelling enough that the appeals courts decide to leave the convictions undisturbed?

Were you aware that THAT is the law of the land, that Consitutional defects are not an automatic get-out-of-jail-free card?

I'll note that the "remaining evidence of guilt" was apparently untainted by Constitutional violations. To whit, there was some evidence other than what had been tortured out of the accused.

Jesus, jest, I hope you can argue better in Court than you do in these toobz. And you haven't answered Greenwald's question about why it wouldn't be just peachy to enhancedly interrogate the shit out of future bad guys. There sure are plenty of them in the world, aren't there? Should we just decide in advance who the bad-guys are? Trials are over-rated anyway, aren't they?

Monday, January 12, 2009 08:31 AM

Surely, you jest.

"I'm doing it just this once because George messed up! And nobody can EVER do it again!"

Seriously? That's your answer?

Monday, January 12, 2009 08:47 AM

There you have it, jest

Unequivocal support from the piece of shit that argues it's OK to torture Arabs to death.

FOAD, shartstain22%.

EVERYBODY! Bookmark this little gem, now!

There has been much good that has rarely been reported about our presence in Iraq. We have done much good, maybe not enough in many eyes . There is no doubt thier future is better today than it was regardless of how we went there. This cannot but pay dividends in the future relationships with Iraqis regardless of the lack of a Kumbaya moment that would have satisfied you.

And people actually question the existence of parallel universes?

I'm talking out of my butt here, but I'm willing to wager that if you kept it to 1 maybe 2 comments per DAY for a while, week or two maybe, Glenn might be willing to remove you from exile.

GG if this is too O/T or too most definitely not the time/place for this comment, please get rid of it.

Monday, January 12, 2009 10:55 AM

Jesta

I'd wager we're pretty close to agreement except for this - you're willing to make certain "accommodations" in the case of KSM et al because they're really bad guys? C'mon. You're a smart guy and you see where that leads.

We had a system in place, that, while flawed, worked pretty well most of the time. The Bushies, w/ malice aforethought, threw that system out the window. How can you come up w/ a solution the adheres to the Rule of Law? Follow the Laws as they exist! Jeezuz, man. There are Absolute prohibitions against Torture for a reason. If we've got nothing on KSM that isn't tainted, then so be it. He walks. Thank the Bushies.

Errata: "new could" new court, actually

Thanks Glenn, for taking all the "Leave OS alone!" factions to the woodshed.

Now I'm outta hear, before all the slaughter=self-defense apologists stink the place up again. You did have to remind everyone about that distressing little situation in Gaza, so things will deteriorate in here correspondingly.

I'm guessin' MOTUS is Messiah of the U.S.

Surprisingly genteel in here today, from a quick read.

and Pedinska, way O/T, but I've been waiting for a ggod time to tell you

Your hubby will thank me for this linky

www.zappateers.com

A much, MUCH better sounding (lossless) version of that Manchester “Inca Roads" (the entire show, in fact) can be found and safely downloaded (if you’re into that type of thing) after registering there.

I can unreservedly recommend he find and listen to a show from Saratoga Performing Arts Center, 09/01/84. It’s famous for it’s sound quality (after a little glitch in the opener). My buddy is the original source for that particular show, which I’ve learned is fairly “famous” among FZ fanatics.

I will note, that according to bystander (to whom I offered not thanks, but instead the sincerest form of flattery) it needs a semi-colon.

I believe the first couple sentences in that post pretty well peg it as satire.

Controversy

I was flatly unaware there was any controversy over whether or not the IDF was using WP. As to whether or not it is a War Crime, I thought the only question was "how" they were using it.

The inhumanity of shitstain22%

in his own words.

One could cage a rabid dog for it's entire life, or just put it out of it's misery. Which is more humane?

Sadly, the Palestinians aren't smart enough to disown Hamas and insist on peace and prosperity. Which makes them as crazed as the dog. Some people only learn the hard way.

[snip]

...the civilians have harbored Hamas and enabled their terrorism. The civilians are the target here, because they hold ultimate responsibility for their situation.

I probably ought to go read Ignatius myself (do I HAVE to?) but...

...I'm wondering, was this a newer, more emphatic statement by OS that he has absolutely no intention of even a cursory investigation into the Bushie regime?

I know, of course, that I'm pre-judging OS, and he's really quite craftily saying he'll do one thing while secretly plotting to do the exact opposite once he's in.
