RE: "There's value in having our political establishment be forced to declare that so openly." Yes, BUT...

The REAL value would be in having these people confronted and being forced to explicitly delineate for the audience EXACTLY what they were doing. And I know just the man I'd nominate to do it...

@GG - I'm hesitant to ask, but did I get deleted (the sanction/oversight comment)yesterday? For being O/T too early, maybe? If I knew why, I'd try harder to avoid it in the future.

That's no deletions for ME O/T but not for you...

Glad I asked. I slunk away yesterday and didn't come back until much later when some twit hacked me off to the extent that my simian fingers took to bangin' on the keyboard of their own volition.

and BTW, did Shartstain22% REALLY just tsk "us"

...since many here would not agree that since Arab rockets killed [arbitrary number I assume] 20 Israelis, then it's OK to TORTURE to DEATH 20 Arabs? Do my eyes deceive me?

I'm sorry, but that thing isn't human. Can't be.

Jebbie, I've got to beg to differ

Nothing gained by leaving that one up, even as an exemplar. It's a shame GG has to play janitor and clean that type of stuff off the bathroom wall every now and then, but I'm glad he does it. I'll guess Chris S. is as well, at least in this instance.

RPT-ANALYSIS-Few speak up for Palestinians in U.S. Congress

http://www.reuters.com/article/vcCandidateFeed2/idUSN08201336

Lawmakers in Washington routinely pass nonbinding resolutions supporting Israel during Middle East crises. The Senate has backed Israel's ongoing battle against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip and the House of Representatives is expected to follow suit soon.

Even U.S. lawmakers who express sympathy for the Palestinians hesitate to call themselves pro-Palestinian and they voice strong support for the security of Israel as well, hewing to decades of close U.S.-Israeli ties.{snip}

Harry Reid, who leads the Democratic majority in the Senate, gave voice to the depth of the relationship when he said on Thursday, "Our resolution reflects the will of the State of Israel and the will of the American people."

Just FYI, Glenn

The post Shartstain uses to "support" his execrable b.s. is from well AFTER sharter's contention it's OK to torture people to death.

This was interesting, tks.

A lot of the time Democracy NOW! has topics in which I'm not immediately interested. But I usually listen anyway, so I can learn a little something. This interview was much the same way for me.

Thinking about poli sci makes my head hurt. I'm becoming anti-Statist, anti-Corporatist, pro-Anarchist. But then what the heck do you do about Environmental regs? Veering O/T so I'll quit while behind.

@Jebbie - "Well I may be totally wrong...."

...but I'm a Dancin' Fooooooooooooool!"

Sorry, popped in w/ half a buzz on and free associated.

Speakin' of Frank, anybody interested should check this smokin' version of Inca Roads

O/T @ ondelette

Did you see the absolute disdain OS showed for the "Special Prosecutor" question @ change.gov? I'm so ticked I'm spittin' nails.

I can't stay here today because the stench of the slaughter=self-defense apologists literally makes me sick to my stomach.

About the change.gov reference, it's worse than you know

OS claims to want to deliver answers to the burning issues, hence the poll questions.

At the very top of the questions he rec'd was the one about appointing Fitzgerald as a Special Prosecutor. OS didn't even deign to answer it - instead posting an old quote from Biden that tangentially addressed the topic.

In round #1, the top question pertained to marijuana legalization. OS replied w/ a brusque one-sentence NO WAY! In Round 2, of the top 10 questions, 3 were related to "why won't you give a more substantive answer to the marijuana issue, you said your policy decisions would be based on science!" I reiterate, 3 of the top 10 questions in Round 2, again! OS simply reposted his "Fuck you!", saying "I already answered that".

Jestaplero

I'll weigh in. YES. IF KSM was the 9/11 Mastermind, and if we tortured him, he ought to walk. Absolutely. Not a doubt in my mind.

Monday, January 12, 2009 07:27 AM

Jestaplero

I'm more afraid of people like you, who are apparently willing to provide a "work-around" for this whole unfortunate enhanced interrogation business, than I am of KSM.

You and your ilk have created literally hundreds of KSMs.

I'M not crazy. You're the one who's crazy. Keep it up. I'm hoping the damage to this country isn't irreparable quite yet. Apparently you won't rest until it is.

Civil liberties extremist my ass.

The Green Arrow?

Am I that ignorant of my comic book lore? I'll have to check wiki.

Monday, January 12, 2009 07:51 AM

Re: Green Arrow

Whatever the hell he is, KSM is way worse!

And so is Jestaplero!

Because he hacked me off this morning.

Monday, January 12, 2009 07:55 AM

jestaplero

Give it up. We're not discussing minor technicalities. We're discussing torture. And I'll note that you've already got KSM convicted as if some semblance of a trial had occurred. Like I've said, bullshit like yours has created literally hundreds of boogeymen at least as bloodthirsty as KSM is presumed to be.

You're a prosecutor? So KSM is a bad dude, and who cares about the legal niceties? Piss off.

God Belss America!

Can't Salon just ban certain ip addresses?

Monday, January 12, 2009 08:05 AM

As long as you're at it, Glenn

Feel free to delete my outburst.

And God "Belss" you too, Master Greenwald.
