Ctheny = woebegone? or shartstain22% maybe?

http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Cheney_If_president_does_it_during_1221.html

All of President Bush's actions during his years as a wartime leader were done with full legal authority, Vice President Dick Cheney said on Fox News Sunday.

Asked by Chris Wallace if it's legal when the president makes a decision to help the country when it's fighting a war, Cheney said, "As a general proposition, I'd say yes."

"You need to be more specific than that, but clearly when you take the oath to support, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies foreign and domestic, there's no question about what your responsibilities are in that regard," Cheney said.

[snip]

Cheney explained that the president's 24/7 access to nuclear codes in the event of an nuclear attack against the United States exemplifies the "nature of the world we live in."

"He could launch the kind of devastating attack the world has never seen," Cheney said. "He doesn't have to check with anybody, he doesn't have to call Congress, he doesn't have to check with the courts, he has that authority."

If I were the average Joe watching that crap, I'd be like, 'whoa! Are you fucking kidding me? We have to do something to make sure that shit never happens!!!"

Pardon me, but are you even a 'merkin? I believe the only Serious response is "feckin' A, YEAH!"

Even though the agreement with the Iraqi government calls for all American combat troops to be out of the cities by the end of June, military planners are now quietly acknowledging that many will stay behind as renamed “trainers” and “advisers” in what are effectively combat roles. In other words, they will still be engaged in combat, just called something else.

Waaaaaay O/T, but GLENN! Do you celebrate Hanukkah?

If you do, then Happy Hanukkah!

If not...

You forgot CLINTON!

And at least learn to spell the names of the objects of your "scorn".

Nitwit.

Jebbie, et al

Search "gang-stalking" and you'll get an idea how sick (I'm using that term in the clinical sense) people like you-know-who really are. The internets themselves offer a place for the paranoid, the delusional, etc. to find each other - a phenomena that's received a bit more press lately. We see similar instances of, mental illness really - in these threads occasionally. I'd wager that the guy who was in here the other day, talking about his mentor with the dying wife performing the only principled stand ever on the internets, "look, go admire me, I mean HIM!" was yet another example. Sad, really. Be kind.

@WT

Greetings of the Season to You as well, Sir. I understand why you recused...

Hope to have you back one day.

@GG

Disclaimer: This is a bit of a "fan comment"

The post today generated an apparently widely held set of questions in me. Why'd you go on FOX, anyway? Do you feel they misrepresented your position? How'd you feel about the editing? You KNEW that was coming, didn't you? Was the whole experience a net positive?

It was interesting to see those questions asked/answered as the thread unwound.

Most interesting, to me, was the expected but clearly delineated fact that, yes, you knew precisely what you were getting into, realized nobody was likely to present your argument as well as you'd be able to, took precise measures to articulate your position, and actually, delivered inasmuch as was humanly possible.

Then spent the time "in here" to answer everybody's questions, further the debate, thank others for their contributions, etc.

Helluvan operation you run, Glenn. I don't know what the criteria is for those on-line Pulitzers, but all hyperbole aside, you deserve one, as far as I can tell.

I hope you keep it going. You do make a difference. Thank you.

@T3

Not to be flip, but you'd really be better off clicking on WT's other letters, to see for yourself.

The shorter version [my take] - assh*les in here unable to carry on a substantive debate without escalating it into protracted personal attacks. It was uncomfortable to even watch. As I recall, WT was a War-Monger because he didn't forcefully renounce Democrats to somebody else's satisfaction.

Fix this?

But people like Goldsmith, Drezner, Douthat, and The Los Angeles Times Editorial Page can only see a world in which they -- where Americans -- are situated at the center.

And for the record, I go with:

#4 "general indifference to law or morality"

@PDA

Are you shooting for the King of Snark title this Holiday week?

Glenn - I heard only the 5 min. snippet. [retch]

People were beaten to death. More than once. Legs and other parts "pulpified".

But all for the right reasons.

USA! USA!! USA!!!
