Now, Jebbie, such misdirection is disingenuous

I clicked on the linky thinking I'd made TOTD...

Wednesday, December 3, 2008 08:24 AM

?

Does Lotus Newberry also = Electrospambot ?

This whole internet "anonymity" thing is starting to grate...

Wednesday, December 3, 2008 12:38 PM

C'mon, harpie!

Anyone who uses a pseudonym to call someone who doesn't a coward...

There's a LOL punchline in there somewhere, now out with it!

Wednesday, December 3, 2008 01:27 PM

Sorry, ehill

Rather than going w/ your "my gut tells me that me and my fellow god-fearin', gun-lovin' gay-hatin' bigots are in the majority", why don't you try looking at some actual data?

You are simply wrong.

Wednesday, December 3, 2008 02:35 PM

@Retzilian

Just FYI, Arne never claimed to be cute.

But he posted some pictures to prove it...

Wednesday, December 3, 2008 03:00 PM

"cute"

Come to think of it, that's one of my wife's favorite adjectives. It's generally followed by [haircut] or [item of clothing], and usually directed toward a woman (or facsimile thereof).

Wednesday, December 3, 2008 03:16 PM

I'm out. One final

As in, "cute scarf!"

I know Jebbie won't be able to resist...

For that to happen, Feinstein and Wyden need to return to the clear, principled position they claimed to believe in throughout the year.

Yeah, and monkeys may fly out of my butt. FDs - showing their true colors. We'll see if OS caves.

BTW, Glenn, you used "interrogation" in the first sentence where you meant (I believe) "interrogating".

Dirks

I couldn't agree w/ this more:

... he clearly articulates the view that "The Law" is a weapon that is wielded by the bad guys. It's quite revealing to realize that these people actually regard the will of the electorate as expessed in acts of Congress as something to be fought rather than the whole edifice they're supposed to be defending.

Hey, Jebbie, this line of Pedinska's needs immortalizing somehow...

'Pussy', indeed. I've got one and I'm not afraid to use it, what about you?
Thursday, December 4, 2008 10:22 AM

That must feel good

Having the Senator's spokesperson call you all aggressive and angry. I take it she didn't alter your position. Did she seem, ultimately, to understand it?

Umbrage: I guess we don't share the same "humor sensibilities".

Thursday, December 4, 2008 12:44 PM

T3 and Derbig on the same page!?

And woebegone - you are now, officially, objectively pro-torture. And you're OK w/ that.

Thinking like yours is part of the reason this country has earned the reputation it has.

Friday, December 5, 2008 08:56 AM

Jebbie

I prefer the slower paced "insurrection" circa White Album.

Nice vid nonetheless.

Friday, December 5, 2008 11:41 AM

(Torture aside) THIS is the crux of the issue

It's nothing short of delusional to think they're going to do that now without constant vigilance and pressure being exerted -- all because they're Democrats and therefore they must be good and inherently deserve giddy cheerleading.

Not to go all "yea, Glenn" or anything - but it's obvious (Wyden's gal calling you, for ex.) that you Glenn, ARE in a position to exert some pressure of your own. And the fact that you personally are derided for doing so by alleged "lefties" is shockingly, not unexpected.

Maybe adnoto will come up w/ something better, but in the meantime, from the rest of us, thank you.

Feckin' Democraps...

Torture advocates - I'm talking to you, ehill

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hz01hN9l-BM

Cassel: If the President deems that he’s got to torture somebody, including by crushing the testicles of the person’s child, there is no law that can stop him?

Yoo: No treaty.

Cassel: Also no law by Congress. That is what you wrote in the August 2002 memo.

Yoo: I think it depends on why the President thinks he needs to do that.

How does your "I can devise scenarios where torture is justified" position differ from Yoo's "it depends"?

Friday, December 5, 2008 01:37 PM

@freelancer

I think Glenn pretty much runs out of ideas after one.

Why don't you be really helpful, and let him know what additional topics you feel he ought to be addressing daily?

Friday, December 5, 2008 02:24 PM

What seems to me to be patently obvious...

...is that "even" Tom Gjelten, as correspondent for NPR has a very condescending "I'm a 'real' journalist, and you're a lowly blogger and there are all kinds of things I can't even TELL you", attitude.

Way to stay after him, Glenn.

Friday, December 5, 2008 03:12 PM

RE: Grossman

That was a helluvan interview, Glenn. Thank you for that. Grossman is far more optimistic than I, even though he's far better informed. Pleasantly disconcerting.

If OS comes through in any fashion (pulling the certs, f'rinstance) I'll have to stop being so derisive. Color me not too concerned that that will be the case.

Schematic Timeline

1. GG posts well-sourced critique of Brennan's candidacy, which appears to contribute to the Obama camp's withdrawal of support of Brennan for the position.

2. Brennan pens a pissy "I withdraw" letter, and his friends complain about the mean ol' lefty bloggers to Gjelten.

3. TG catapults the propaganda that [paraphrasing] liberal bloggers don't like Brennan 'cause he worked in Tenet's CIA.

4. GG calls TG on his bullsh!t. Gjelten seems to exhibit a glimmer of intelligence/integrity, agrees he should have phrased things differently.

5. TG reappears in the comments section, pulls one quote from Sully out of [the ether?], and says FOOLED YA! I WIN!!

What a feckin' tool.

You're right about everything in this post. But it's just the jumping off point...

For discussions of many of the themes/questions you've previously addressed. (The"inside-the-beltway" penchant for secrecy, the "Versailles" mentality of the press/lackeys, the supine disposition of Washington toward the "C-in-C", continued expansion of Executive Power)

And the most obvious connection - Washington's apparent animosity toward whistle-blowers of any sort.

@hpjogger

YES - You made me laugh, and, it's TRUE!

Obama would be better off giving his potential hires a basic test of civics and critical thinking.

Hayden. Awesome.

I'm just now getting into Bamford's The Shadow Factory. Hell I'm only on CH. 4, and the mere thought of Hayden makes me want to puke...

Hayden, as Dir. of the NSA, was the guy who made the decision NOT to monitor the international communications of known terrorists inside the U.S. w/ Bin Laden's known/monitored ops center in Yemen. (He figured that should be the FBI's "problem" - only the NSA didn't bother to notify the FBI these known Bin Laden associates were IN the U.S...)
