Time OUT!

Fer chris'sake, it's only mid-morning. Could things possibly be more bellicose in here already!?

I have a suggestion, FWIW. (Yeah, I know WIW, but, regardless) Can't we collectively initiate some type of "New Day" rule? Every midnight (or morning, or maybe better, New Post), all the regular commenters have to wipe their collective psyches of the previous posts disagreements (and slurs, innuendo and insults, good-natured or otherwise) and open a new discussion without harboring residual animosity.

Yes, I can think of two or three outright trolls (OK, I'll name mine - Sharter28%, tibby, and E-dung) who have well and truly earned their full helping of derision, disdain, and distaste. But it seems (to me anyway)as if most others are arguing their positions in good faith. Yes, everybody's free (in fact, encouraged, I'd say) to forcefully argue their positions. But can we try to get a handle on the all-too-obvious immediate interjection of personal distaste in to every discussion?

Peace, my brethren.

This, from the guy who titles posts w/ (All You People SUCK) or words to that effect...

And ANOTHER thing

I watched a vid of the last 15 min. or so of HRC's speech. Never thought I'd type these words, but...

I thought it was pretty damn good, as far as convention speeches go.

bystander

If you're suggesting that somehow I am lacking in testosterone, well then, [two word retort, one of which is a personal pronoun, the other an obscenity]!

And I'm trying to trademark THIS smiley face.

The odd thing about that edit...

...is that it was such a terrific one-liner.

Go, SLOTEO!

I stopped watching that show, 'cuz it seemed to to me get less and less funny...

...but I still regularly tell my wife she's the prettiest girl in the whole wide room.

I must've effectively repressed my memories of the finale

But some of their songs still crack me up. A number of them have already been posted. My current fave maybe is the motherflippin' hiphopopotamus.

I also laugh at that bit in "Extras" where Bowie makes up that song about Ricky Gervais.

Via Raw Story, Storm Troopers out in full force in Denver

http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Protesters_denied_access_to_attorneys_forced_0828.html

The ACLU issued a stinging rebuke to the Denver Police Department Wednesday, alleging that the department may have violated laws and constitutional rights of protesters arrested outside the Democratic National Convention.

No phone calls, no access to lawyers (w/ lawyers right there trying to speak w/ specific detainees), no food for many, shackled constantly even in detention, mass arrests of innocent bystanders, and on and on,,,

For the full story, you ought to read the letter the ACLU sent.

Howzabout "The Onanist Monologues"

'cause all their doing is jerkin' off.

Thanks, Derbig

I'm committed to going to an Obama party this eve., and you've provided me with additional "Why the Dems SUCK" ammo. They lost their right to point fingers some years ago.

And PEDINSKA, what's the latest word on 'bop?

Derbig (Wow, I almost misspelled yer handle and made it into something really disparaging)

One of the guys I watched Obama's speech w/ last night emphatically declared (in answer to "your" question) that his issue was "Torture". Just couldn't believe he was now a citizen of a country that tortures.

He also mentioned that if you're a graduate of the Army War College, like Wes Clark was, and he was, then you know there is no honor in having been a POW. It's viewed as a Mission failure.

This from a Special Forces officer, 3 tours of duty in Vietnam.

GG

Can you outline (if you are aware of) the legal response planned by [whomever]? Are there legal teams stepping up? ACLU? Any outreach efforts to MSM in order to broaden awareness of the goings on?

Do you have any feel for a general "mood"? Is there a lot of tension, or is all of this just flying under the radar?

Try to stay out of the line of fire to the extent that you can.

Anybody heard from GG? Wonder if he's detained somewhere.

Kitt, I think I have you to thank for the Firefox add-on that converts text to linkys. Works great.

Really? McSame was diddling w/ his wedding ring and watching the teleprompter on Palin's butt whilst she was talking? ;-)

I call Bullshit, Plate

I looked through your photos. A broken window, yes, a broken piece of ceramic, lots of pictures of people walking, cops massing, then some cruisers w/ broken windows. That kinda shit happens when police start using rubber bullets, pepper spray, and concussion grenades.

L.W.M.

Are you O.K.? You seem to have grown angrier and angrier recently, until it has now reached the point where (there's no gentle way to put this) this

I don't have to. Don't you get it?

Lawful order to disperse. Case closed.

is indistinguishable from something written by sharter28%.

Yes, some protesters were apparently causing property damage. When the police encircle masses of people, tactically cutting off their retreat, how can a "lawful order to disperse" be obeyed? But you don't have to look at videotaped evidence of just such behavior on the part of the police? What's happened to you?
