Glenn, why don't YOU ask Chomsky for an interview? I'd bet he'd agree to it. That way, you can ask him yourself about his feelings vis a vis marginalization.
Pure conjecture on my part, but I would imagine he has a certain frustration level after having been a (nearly) lone voice in the wilderness for literally decades. As you well know, he's been railing about the narrowness of the range of policy discussion in the U.S. for quite a while.
"Manufacturing Consent" is a must-see, IMO.
between feeble attempts at witicism, and robust displays of nitwiticism.
Thanks for the commondreams link to the Chomsky post. I glossed over it earlier today, went back and read it just now.
Damn.
I'd venture to say that in TX anyway, Hagee has far more name recognition than Farrakhan.
Anecdote: I early voted in the TX primary yesterday. HEAVILY Republican District. The volunteers there shout across the room to [somebody handing out ballots] "Political Party", and "paper vs. electronic". No discretion whatsover.
Anyway in the limited time I was there, the count was "Democratic" 7, "Republican" 1.
So far, this is the only commentary on Buckley's demise I've managed to get all the way through.
http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2008/02/27/buckley/
The author takes great pains to distinguish between Buckley's somewhat more principled conservatism and that of the current Movement. I'd have to funadamentally disagree w/ the author's implicit message though, that this makes Buckley any less of a major assh*le.
I have a "traditional" (it's a tradition in my house, anyway) eulogy I deliver for the likes of Buckley and his ilk.
"That f*cking assh*le? I'm GLAD he's dead!"
...but half the fun is seeing the expression on somebody's face when you actually DO use it.
Odd, the reactions you get when speaking ill of the dead. Still a pretty strong cultural taboo, it seems.

Glenn, I sent you an email link to this service. I use them. If anybody reading knows any pros/cons, I'd like to hear them.

Hope you get your data back ASAP.
...views on GPO politicians are hardly controversial. GOP politicians are widely regarded as a moral cesspool, brimming with all sorts of iniquities: promiscuous/deviant sex of all kinds, gay/straight/bestial, political corruption, violent crime, drug abuse, etc.
...
You're welcome.
It seems patently obvious that there are clear, documented, inarguable, and continual violations of Federal law by this Maladministration.
Why hasn't somebody, ANYBODY been prosecuted? Is it the Mukasey paradox? (Was that Marty Lederman's phrase?)

You gots to see it to believe it...
The (formerly?) high level of discourse in the comments section is one of the distinguishing features of this place.
But the inter-commentariat flame wars in here are dragging down the ambience considerably.
It's OK for the Clinton camp to compare Obama to Bush, Rove, and Ken Starr, and note that Mcaain has"crossed the C-in-C threshold" but Obama hasn't - and Hillary can't take being referred to as "a monster"?
How's that AUMF working out for you Hillary? >500,000 DEAD!? If the label fits...
What happened? I find myself concurring w/ W.E.S.
McCain in '08! Let's burn this sucker down and start again from scratch.
YEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
I may be goin' to hell in a bucket, but at least I'm enjoyin' the ride...
Thanks. I was at that show, strangely enough. Didn't know there was so much of it online.
Politely but emphatically, tore into his phone person. Was met with... stuneed silence. then, "Thank you, I'll definitely pass your feelings on to the Congressman".
Light up the phone lines, people!
You must've gotten there right before me. I immediately got the "I don't know anything about a FISA bill being floated" routine from Pelosi's staffer, and was immediately cut off and sent to the "comment" line.
"The Senator will filibuster any bill containing retroactive telecom immunity". Alludes to the fact that "last time, there was a cloture vote that prevented us from filibustering".
I agree, it mostly likely is and has been a lost cause from the very beginning.
But sometimes, a man's just got to go down swinging.
You post some excellent stuff.
Please, don't misinterpret this, but seriously -
why don't you fuck off and die?

Are you all loving (as am I) living in a Country that officially refuses to disavow torture?
The Asshole-in-Chief has declared that he, personally, feels torture works. So there we have it!
Why does the GOP hate America?
