Stoller made me laugh...
[Read the article: Presidential candidates and "substance"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]w/ this quote - " So apparently one of News Corp's specialties is polluting neutral and credible information systems with their own bad version based on bullshit that makes them more money."
Seriously, though, consider the implications of Stoller's story, coupled w/ GG's post re: neoconservatism's effect on reshaping the political spectrum, It exemplifies Chomsky's point about the extremely narrow range of "acceptable" policy discussion. That's the reason I'd very much like to see an "insurgent" candidate.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Where is the "proper" place to follow up on a previous day's post? F'rinstance, I'd like to know if yesterday's post was sent to ABC, and if it generated any reply. I'm assuming there was nothing substantive, otherwise GG would've posted it. But if one were inclined to ask, should one do it HERE, or THERE?

[Read more letters about this article: Here]The cabal has internalized the belief that PEOPLE VOTED FOR THE SURGE! The Nov. election showed the people wanted GWB to change course. He did. We surged. All True Americans support Dear Leader in these efforts.
I've heard some version of this thesis any number of times. And I think they actually believe their own B.S., which is part of what makes them so dangerous.

To recap: I'm a convert to the media criticism. It's important and helpful.
Glenn, watch yesterday's Democracy Now! Michael Albert (Z mag founder) had a msg. that reminded me of you. Sounds odd, but the essence of it was - there is hope.
My old college roomate sent me this to cheer me up. Thought I'd share.
Check out this prose from Tagore's "The Gardener"...
The Gardener (Verse 84)
-- Rabindranath Tagore--
Over the green and yellow rice fields
sweep the shadows of autumn clouds
The bees forget to sip their honey;
drunken with light they foolishly hover and hum
The ducks in the islands of the river
clamour in joy for mere nothing
Let none go back home, brothers
this morning let none go to work
Let us take the blue sky by storm
and plunder space as we run
Laughter floats in the air like foam on the flood
Brothers, let us squander our morning in futile song.
W/ apologies to Arne, Cheers, everybody!
