Just in case...

...I never make it back (from my neighbor's house, chances are I will, but you never know) - HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!

2008 virtually HAS to be a vast imporvement over 2007, dunnit?

Did somebody mention Austin? It's just down the road a piece. I'm 75% sure to go. Tours of 6th street and elsewhere happily arranged...

Fix already in?

From Conyer's statment (via TPM):

Equally disappointing is the limited scope of this investigation, which appears limited to the destruction of two tapes. The government needs to scrutinize what other evidence may have been destroyed beyond the two tapes, as well as the underlying allegations of misconduct associated with the interrogations.

So, NO looking into what other evidence might've been destroyed, and NO investigation into the underlying crime of (to quote Jonathan Turley) TORTURE.

why does my "blockquote" tag not end when I add the 2nd one?

All you "nutjobs" need to read Ruppert's "Crossing The Rubicon". Plenty of fodder therein.

Jim White

I remember Capitol Hill Blue as the source for GW's famous "quote".

“Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,” Bush screamed back. “It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”

O/T Sorry - Harman's letter to CIA re: tapes is declassified

From Raw Story

http://tinyurl.com/2cftcn

Something along the lines of, DON'T destroy the tapes, or I'll deliver a stern look...

Friday, January 4, 2008 08:22 AM

DAMMIT!

I'll chime in w/ what's hacking me off about the Corporate Media this morning. I've heard any number of reports/commenters (on NPR!) referring to the Mukasey referral of the CIA tape destruction for a criminal inquiry. The ONLY question they ask is whether or not the tapes' destruction might have risen to the level of "Obstruction of Justice".

What about the fact that they [had] videotaped evidence of TORTURE, authorized by the CIC (Chimp-in-Chief)? And I couldn't get on the DR show to holler about it this morning...

I'm still even more hacked off

about the CIA tape destruction (I'll be kind) willful mis-framing.

GG's AWESOME political clout.

His oh-so-perfectly timed endorsement of HRC only garnered her 3rd place. I'm sure he's distressed this morning. [snark]

I'll tell you what the results of the Iowa caucuses mean, BTW.

"Folks LIKE that REform."

I think it was Junior O'Daniel that said it.

Nice letter. My sentiments exactly. No mention of a "stern look" though.

BTW, are you a constituent of hers? I can rarely summon the outrage to actually write something to politicos who aren't my direct reps.

Harman sense

You're clearly more hopeful than, I my friend. My suspicions about her were more than confirmed once I read her oh-so-tepid letter yesterday.

You're on to something here, I think.

If that's the case, the proper question for all the candidates should be: What is the proper use of secrecy in a democratic society, and how will you use it as president?

Charlie Savage approached it, dinnee, w/ the combination of questions #s 1 & 10?

Deja Vu all over again.

I believe GG pretty well dissected the Mittster's atrocious responses to Savage's survey.

But, do you know what else that bastige (Willard, not GG) did? He had the unmitigated audacity to quote one of my favorite philsophers. It left such a sour taste in my mouth, the bile rose when I put the header on this post.

I'd actually read that article. Man, my memory's going.

I haven't been around the past couple of days...

but, holy mackerel! Not sure if it was the topic of the post, or what, but the overall tone of this thread is as combative as any I've read.

Just an observation.

HUGE NEW Sibel Edmonds story

http://www.bradblog.com/?p=5518

Plenty of links there as well.

I wish GG would look into her story a bit.

Monday, January 7, 2008 08:08 AM

I may as well be the first to say it, and (hopefully) get it over with...

GLENN! I can't believe you *&^%ing endorsed Edwards! WTF!?

Monday, January 7, 2008 08:17 AM

And I know this isn't the point of the POST, but...

Does anybody know where to find data regarding how accurately Rasmussen (or any of the other pollsters) has prognosticated during this election cycle?

Monday, January 7, 2008 08:23 AM

'bop

I believe Strawman and the Wizard (Pay no attention to the man behind the CURTAIN!) are the GOP ticket, this year.

I could live w/ Edwards/Obama...

Monday, January 7, 2008 08:29 AM

bystander

Yeah, TPM has those graphs from Pollster.com, but I can't find accuracy data.

The last Des Moines (Register?) poll was dead-on, but that's no help.

Monday, January 7, 2008 09:33 AM

Isn't the Strait of Hormuz somewhere near the Tonkin Gulf?

Methinks the correct answer is, just about as close to the Tonkin Gulf as to the Reichstag.

Hey! I'm in thre DR SHow Green Room

About to blast the members of the Boren Bipartisan BS roadshow.

Tuesday, January 8, 2008 07:44 AM

I went on a tear...

Boren is full of crap in his response. Doesn't address any of my points.

I'll post the link later, for anyone interested.

Lemme drop my kimono here.

How about a plank declaring the War on Drugs a Horrible Misallocation of Resources/ Counterproductive, and supporting absolute decriminalization of cannabis?

Tuesday, January 8, 2008 09:50 AM

@RMP, Jebbie

At the risk of pimping too overtly, you might like my DR show comments.

Tuesday, January 8, 2008 09:57 AM

Well, yeah, the answer was completely non-responsive.

But I choose to interpret that as an indication that my comment hit home. 8')
