...but I've gotta tell you I interpreted it in a scatological manner.
When you said "squeezed out of that day", I caught one godawful visual. Entirely inappropriate, (scratch that, maybe not) but I laughed out loud nonetheless.
And I only sat through snippets looking for your cites, but I still wanted to hurl.
Ghouliani's RWA impulses as amply documented by GG and others, scare the bejeezuz out of me. But then I think, SURELY, there will be a thorough examination of the man and his "record", and the American public will come to their collective senses. Right? Right?
Uh, never mind.
Hope it's not too presumptuous, but - if you're planning on NOT posting, a brief announcement to that effect stops people from wondering if you've been Padilla'd.
Hussein is to be unceremoniously dumped into the Iraqi "Justice" system? Does Iraq even have a Justice system?
Oh yeah, I remember. It's the same system the murderous mercenaries from Blackwater declined to participate in.
It's starting to weird me out a little bit, that lately, I randomly pop into UT whnever GG posts a new article. On a couple of occassions recently, the blank letters slate has been just too intimidating for me to break the ice. I'm going to start wearing my tinfoil hat soon.
For anybody interested.
Is this just one of those posts that's so frickin' depressing that the collective response is "Yeah, that's about par for the course"?
Amyway, O/T, but does anybody else appreciate the Rude Pundit? GG's far too circumspect to go this route, but RP was exhorting Kos to "take the gloves off" for the Newsweek mano a mano v. Rove. RP's post ended w/this quote.
"Oh, and leave Reagan out of it. Americans are too deluded to believe anything other than that senile bag of fuck was a demigod."
Maybe it's me, but I thought that particular turn of phrase ("SBoF") was funny as hell. G'night, all.
...but I dug the NIN.
Looks like a lot of effort for performance art.
OTOH, didn't Chuck Barris used to do wet work for the CIA? Sure.
Man, I wish I could sleep.
...but I wound up agreeing w/ much of this article upon an initial quick read.
what do all y'all think? Interesting contrast to Joke Line.

"The Dems Need an Iran Strategy ASAP"
Thank [somebody] for helping me uncover this site yesterday. Looks promising.

And, apropos of the media/deocracy, I spent a very depressing Thanksgiving evening indulging my Chomsky jones. These clips are relatively short, and on point.

Count me among the "bewildered herd"? F*cking Walter Lippmann. I'll have to do some additional rescratch on that guy...
...that there was some way to turn a phone into a listening device. Like, if you weren't home, and you thought your teenager was up to no good (hypotheticaly speaking, of course)you can somehow call your own phone, it wouldn't ring, or be necessary to lift it off the receiver, but you could hear what was going on (to some extent anyway) in your home. This was a few years back, that I heard about this. Maybe technology's changed, or it never existed, or I'm just one paranoid mofo.
Apropos of the Gov't tracking [whomever] via their cell phones, the cell phone still transmits its location even if turned off. The only way to prevent this is to remove the battery entirely. One of the reasons I don't use a cell phone.
You crazy bastidge, you makea me laugh! I don't even want to know WHY you know that number.
..."afficcionado" is spelled w/ only one "c". And it's Spanish, not Italian. I'm just an ignorant sumbitch I guess. But I do take the batteries out of my wife's cell phone whenever I'm forced to carry it.
And, 'bop? Take up yoga. Take a shower (whoops, cold bath, forgot who I was talking to fer a second) before you go. Beats the Wal-Mart Ladies Room.
On this page, anyway. But don't worry, I done think anybody's paying any attention, today.
Glenn, in one of the Thanksgiving threads, I put up a couple of links to two Noam Chomsky clips in which he talked about "two types of Democracy", the elites (apropos of Lippmann) and the function of the media as a "gov't" pr/propaganda mechanism.
You might find it a worthwhile 20 min. or so to take a look at it.
...for those who are curious as to the "WHY?" does TIME do this - I would again suggest some inquiry into Chomsky's commments on the media as the PR arm of the ruling class.

Aside: Tough to get into the saloon here, today. And they turned out the lights early (again) last night.
An article (h/t Raw Story) that, upon first read anyway, "doesn't suck".

Includes a surprisingly accurate (to my knowledge) summary of the current status of the Al Haramain (Oregon) case.
RE: The Chicken Hawk Buzzard will eat dead raw-crow-meat. OK.
I hope you're reading the entrails properly today.

That's what happens when you pop back in without reading the intervening comments... Old news.
"Go on with your bad self...!"
I'm still laughing at that 12 hours after reading it. 8')
I'm tuckin' in to Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale. My first taste ever. Third bottle tonight, but still. Out Frickin' STANDING. Highly recomended.
And pardon me, all y'all, for my redundancy, but occassionaly I feel compelled to mention that
