With all due respect...
[Read the article: American war culture in a nutshell]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Nothing's wrong with venting frustration, but this post is kinda weak. Really. Fat faces, chickenhawks? Fred Kagan would've been just as wrong if he looked like Wesley Snipes and served in the delta force for the last 30 years. I hope this kinda rhetoric is not going to become a permanent feature here.

Come on, Kitt, brother.
[Read the article: American war culture in a nutshell]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The way that those two men look has an awful lot to do with what a pile of steaming bile they are. If they weren't disgusting pieces of excrement some semblance of human decency would show in their physical personage.
Now, that's just silly, Kitt. C'mon, you know better, I'm sure.

This argument...
[Read the article: American war culture in a nutshell]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"...and having the moral right to say it" - is not a very good argument, IMO.
Stalin's son Yakov, for example, was a soldier in the WWII, he was captured by the Nazis, they offered to swap him for general Paulus, but Stalin rejected the offer saying: 'soldier is not worth a general' (or something to that effect). Yakov died in Nazi concentration camps. So, does this mean that Stalin had the moral right to play with lives of other people? I don't think so.
Every argument Kagan makes can be examined on the merits of the argument itself. The fact that Kagan is fat and a chickenhawk is worth a comment, but not a post.

@kovie
[Read the article: American war culture in a nutshell]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]one has to at least respect such conservatives' honesty in terms of having the courage of their convictions and fighting in the wars that they support.
If they are war-mongering - I don't care at all whether they sit in their AEI offices or pilot a bomber or drive a Humvee. "War Hero" doesn't impress me; makes no difference.
There's only one thing I would like them to do: they should buy a plane ticket, fly to that place they want to beautify and join any one of the local revolutionary groups they approve - anti-Islamist, pro-capitalist, whatever turns them on. And they can be heroes or cowards, fat or fit or anything else. And that's all there is to it.

Incidentally, the troop are not some hopeless children.
[Read the article: American war culture in a nutshell]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]They are in a better position to end this war than anyone else, as described in this William Blum piece: http://www.counterpunch.com/blum09122007.html

Cheney probably keeps a gun...
[Read the article: Michael Mukasey's role in the Jose Padilla case]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...used in a murder and covered by this judge's fingerprints in his man-size safe.

It is curious...
[Read the article: Limitless wrongness]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...how little they managed to milk from this Petraeus guy. Similar events in the past - "mission accomplished", Saddam capture, purple fingers, etc. - used to give them a much stronger bounce. I suppose they are down to that group of people who can be fooled all the time.

Hey,
[Read the article: The art of neoconservative innuendo]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]that's what the AM radio is for.

Incidentally, the only reason corporations exist in the first place...
[Read the article: Former Clinton officials lobby for amnesty for FISA lawbreaking]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...is to protect the investors against a lawsuit in a case like this. If you invested in the AT&T, AT&T passed your confidential info to the government and is being sued for that - there's no chance you are losing your house and your kid's college fund.
Fair enough.
But now, of course, the corporations themselves - the fictitious entities they are - need help. They suffer. They want to be defended and protected from humans, mere mortals. But don't worry, all is not lost - we have the government to take care of them!

Democratic party is not a left party.
[Read the article: Dianne Feinstein, symbol of the worthless Beltway Democrat]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Democratic party is center-right party similar to European Christian-Democrats. Feinstein voting record appears to be a typical Democratic one, probably quite average: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dianne_Feinstein#Ideological_ratings
She also appears to be slightly more corrupt than an average Democratic politician: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dianne_Feinstein#Corruption_scandals_and_accusations
Bottom line: there's nothing special about her. Don't blame individuals, that's silly; blame the political and socio-economic system.

Compare to a columnist like Krauthammer...
[Read the article: David Brooks and the deceitful tactics of the Beltway pundit]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...Brooks is a sweetie.
