Standard terminology to identify the sexes in dogs is "dog" and "bitch". Watch an intact male dog with an intact (or not)bitch who is NOT in heat.
Dog: Hey, baby...
Bitch: Hey, baby...
Dog: You're really cute...
Bitch: You're cute too.. no wait... SNAP!
Dog: (Not the least concerned) I still think you're sexy, baby...
Bitch: Get your nose out of my face, you @#$%@!!!
It's funny to watch. You always kind of sympathetic to the dog (but not so much because he's pushy) and sympathetic to the bitch (but not so much, because she IS flirting even after she tells the dog to back off).
Which is to say that while I understand its cultural meaning, bitch has become kind of a toothless word to me. It's just a female dog. It almost feels archaic to me at this point to think that it has any impact except to point up the lack of imagination of the person who uses it to mean anything OTHER than a female dog. If someone called me a bitch it would hardly register.
FIESTAWARE! Made by the Homer Laughlin China company in West Virginia. And since they DID have lead troubles some years ago, all their stuff is lead-free and says so. It's durable and beautiful--I've bought a mix of colors, and sometimes after I wash my dishes, I just enjoy looking at them sitting in the drainer.
You can go to the Homer Laughlin company and buy "seconds" at great prices.
But I've never understood the whole "mysterious, mythologizing" thing. I don't get it. I love his music, but there's no mystery there for me.
I do, however, ADORE Todd Haynes and will go see anything he does. Velvet Goldmine is probably my favorite movie EVER--I just find it enthralling from beginning to end.
Aren't like wild turkeys. Wild turkeys are smaller and smarter. Domesticated turkeys' only purpose in life is to be eaten.
In general, I don't think domesticated turkeys are raised in tiny cages. They are hard to maintain without giving them at least a little room. But obviously if you feel guilty, you can get a free-range, organically-raised turkey.
I usually like Keef's 'toons, but this one was a little heavy-handed for me.
And if no-one's been walking it, it probably has lost its housetraining. If someone locked the door to YOUR bathroom, you'd probably end up finding a corner to potty in too.
Look, I'll give you that human life is more important than dog life, but COME ON!! Your grandmother loves the dog--try to find a way to keep the dog with your grandmother!! Find someone to walk the dog! Teach the dog to use a litterbox. Help restrict the dog's diet! IF you people are so selfish that you won't do that, call Yorkie rescue. That dog could have another 6 or 7 years in her with someone who will care for her and maybe bring her by to see your grandmother on occasion.
Helping to care for this dog seems like a small thing you can do for your grandmother. Why NOT do this?
Send me a note--I'll take the dog.
Besides, weren't you the one claiming that Macs are superior because of their super-high resale value? That is, you pay into the club once, with your first purchase, then you stay in the club for the next upgrade, because you recoup your "entry fee" when you resell the older unit.
Hey, Farhad, what would you advise for a dysfunctional eMac? My boyfriend's eMac is just over 3 years old (so out of warranty) and the video has gone out. This computer DOES fall in to the serial number sequence that had a known video problem--however, Microcenter says it will cost $425 to fix.
Hmmm... 3 year old Mac, $425 to fix the video (the computer itself comes up just fine, not that that's any comfort because it's all one unit so we can't connect a new monitor to it). We could buy a decent NEW PC tower for that $425 (we don't need a monitor because the BF can use my old one that's currently connected to my 6-year-old Windows 2000 PC, which works just fine though I am SURE its resale value is nada).
I intend to contact Apple and see if we can get any help--however, if none is in the offing the eMac will be trashed and he'll be getting a Vista PC. I've no idea if the thing has any resale value or not, but you know what? it just DOESN'T work. And it's not like I can identify the problem and replace the offending part with any ease, like I could if it was a PC.
Oh well.
Dude you really are friends with Carducci aren't you ? :) Dug blissed out and the rave bk. and think its a-ok for England (does anyone say WISE isles anymore?) to have a base pop language based in yee olde melody man and lyrics guy.
