@Said Dustari

My apology.

A case of mistaken identity.

(Or multiple personality?).

@Goodnight all

Its late here in the Central Time Zone . . . enjoyed it as always.

@Beagle

I was lucky enough to see Johnny in the 80s. June came out and joined him for a couple of songs. I can only think of a handful of artists I've seen who come close to matching his stage presence.

@Cuchalain

I've never been to Ireland. I must go. I have never heard anyone say they didn't enjoy visiting either Ireland or Italy. Chicago still has some new Irish immigrants, but mostly a lot of students now, thanks to the vast improvements in the Irish economy over the last few years.

@Cuch

I think Palin will end up turning this around in her favor - she is quite skillful.

My Irish side is from County Meath.

@LBMo

Nothing strange about liking Johnny Cash! He had a pretty good head of hair, too.

Friday, November 20, 2009 10:41 PM

@dwg

You got my attention, that's for sure. I saw an interview once where she said that she was constantly told by men that she was their first object of lust.

Friday, November 20, 2009 10:35 PM

@Cuch

Yes, Mary Tyler Moore, along with Julie Newmar's version of Catwoman, both gave me that funny feeling I didn't quite understand.

@Cuchalain

How about "first movie/tv crushes" for a topic? One of mine was, oh, god, Tatum O'Neill - "Bad News Bears."

@Reader

As a Chicagoan, you know I've got to say LeBron isn't quite at the greatest ever level yet - a certain other number 23 is. But LeBron may yet surpass him. I'm just not sure he is quite mean enough to get to Jordan's level. Lebron is a class act, though.

I hope he doesn't go to the Knicks.

Friday, November 20, 2009 10:14 PM

@Fester

My personal solution is to take breaks from reading the letters and posting from time-to-time.

I think the Palin incident happened in Indiana, which, if I remember correctly is the home state of the ReaderReader, interestingly.

@RobMorse

I have experienced all of your thoughts at times. I'm inclined to think that RR is putting on a little bit of a performance, however.

And one good thing about allowing the nutball posts is that they illustrate the lunacy that has infected the Republican Party.

By the way, has anyone else seen the video of the disappointed Palinites who didn't get their books signed? They sure turned on her fast.

Friday, November 20, 2009 09:45 PM

@dwg

I also completely disagree with RR about Palin, other than acknowledging that she is a force not to be underestimated. But I don't direct my anti-Palin posts at him, precisely because he is unfailingly civil. His historical allusions crack me up, too.

@dwg

Christine Ricci! I'm usually age appropriate in my objects of lust (I'm on the wrong side of 45), but whatever that something is, she's got it.

@Lucy

I'm with you on dogs. I love dogs - always had big dogs growing up, but I don't have enough space or time for one right now. My sort of girlfriend has two, which helps. And my cat is one of those dog-like cats that actually likes people.

Just so you know, my posts run hot and cold. I told myself to be nicer a while ago, and I try, but I can't help myself sometimes.

Friday, November 20, 2009 09:32 PM

@dwg/Lucy

I agree that it is best to let everyone post, as it is now, with only the most abusive posts taken down - although I understand how Lucy feels - sometimes I think an "ignore" function would be nice, at least. But I've learned to mentally ignore certain posts once I see who is posting. And I've gone over the top a few times, myself.

I wish, however, that there were more Conservatives who would put forth their own, original thoughts, rather than simply come here and post something they just read on RedState or some other right wing site.

Its one reason I appreciate ReaderReader. I almost never agree with him, but he's speaking for himself, and his knowledge of history is quite impressive.

Friday, November 20, 2009 09:15 PM

@Lucy

Fester is, without a doubt, one of the smartest, most decent posters here. I can't count how many times I have had a thought, tried to put it down, thrown up my hands and given up, only to find that Fester articulated the thought. Cuchalain, too.

@Joan

I must have missed him . . . but I promised Virtue I'd be nice, and I'll stick to my promise.

I almost switched my two employees (and me) to plans with ridiculously high deductibles, but had an unexpectedly good couple of months and was able to hold off . . for now.

Interesting how so many of the crazy lazy anti-business libruls here own small businesses, isn't it?

If Obama has lost Said Dustari . . .

He's lost America :)

(I wish he'd turn into The Rock Obama, too).

@stackey-dackey/On the Beat

Don't waste your time with facts with On the Beat . . . he only likes them when they are taken out of context.

And, OTB, I'll say it once, and I'll say it again. Democrats have the White House, the Senate, and the House (and the majority of Governerships). Right now, Republicans have some polls showing that if the 2010 election were held today, they would do well. In the only election where a Beck/Palinite nutball candidate with views like you went up againat a liberal - NY 23 - the nutbull lost (and promptly started whining about ACORN and the SEIU, neither of which have a presence in NY 23). Republicans running like moderates in NJ and Va won.

Until the Palin/Beck nutball right wins a real election, you're just, well, just whistlin' dixie. Just like David Duke.

To be fair, I'll toss you a bone. Jesse Jackson is just as big a race baiter as Beck, Limbaugh, and O'Reilly. Although, unlike them, he actually ran for office and won some primaries back in the 80s.
