@WT, still waiting for you to name names, besides yours
[Read the article: What Howard Kurtz means by "media scrutiny"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]That last comment is all the evidence anyone needs to conclude that you'd be better off joining Congressman Paul in his well-earned exile. To be alive is to meddle with others.
Like when we sent the CIA into Iran in the 50s? That kind of meddling? Is that the kind of meddling you are supporting?
There are honest ways of doing this, ways which respect the rights, and the basic humanity of those others, but which -- in moments of inattention, or when attempting to juggle greater and lesser evils -- can go horribly wrong.
Sure sure, and that is how America does it. Yeah right, what a bunch of lies. the American Empire and our CIA meddling and overthrowing Governments is merely an accident, something that went "horribly wrong" or came about at a moment of inattention in our benevolent attempts to "Spread Democracy" while "respecting human rights"? Just like Iran in 1953! And just like we are respecting the Human Rights of Iraqis and the sovereignty of Iraq (and have always respected, especially when we were dropping thousands of tons of Depleted Uranium on and/or starving "Collateral Damage" with a medieval seige) Or the way we shower our 110% ally Israel with love even after all the "respect" that Israel shows for Palestinian's Human Rights. Or our Human Rights loving friends in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Egypt, etc.! Human rights are so "in" among our Democracy Spreading Friends in the War on Terror! Or the benevolent "meddling" of our CIA in Central and South America! It's all an accident by well intentioned and benevolent bureaucrats that just happened to go horribly wrong somewhere? What a load of horseshit.
The only way to avoid this is to avoid participating, except to blame everyone who does.
Bullshit, that's just not true, unless "avoid participating" means "Isolationism" which is doesn't. It's just more of the same "if you don't think the CIA should covertly kill people and overthrow Governments for GE you are an antisocial isolationist".
The way to AVOID it is not by not participating or protectionism like you seem to want me to believe, but through TRANSPARENCY and TRANSPARENT GOVERNMENT, INCLUDING INTELLIGENCE SERVICES. But you're probably one of those old guys that are too conditioned and buy into the "knowledge is power" and "Government Secrets are Good" lies.
As I've said before, innocence is an illusion, even in the very young.
What about ignorance? What about secrecy?
There's as much Cain as Abel in all of us, and attempting to grant yourself an exemption from the human condition is no path to absolution.
Who ever said I was?
The point is that you can throw up your hands, act like everything is somehow inevitable or too complex (gone horribly wrong), and play apologist for American Imperialism and the covert actions of our CIA all you want (covert actions which have lead to the deaths of hundreds of thousands if not millions of people, and basically slavery for millions more who suffer under whatever tin pot dictator our intelligence services currently have a fetish for), which you are doing, or you can try and figure out what the problem is.

The state's fine, secrecy isn't
[Read the article: What Howard Kurtz means by "media scrutiny"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It's just too bad that they appear to be inseparable. I'd rather throw the baby out with the bathwater and let Government be run by the people and not by GE with the aid of the CIA and the US Military as its bulldog/enforcer/enabler, but I guess that makes me a "state's rights" racist so its bad.
That state has more than a monopoly on force, it also has a monopoly on subversion and lies, what we call "State Secrets Privilege".
Just look at FISA.

WT, making up shit about Ron Paul too? I'm not surprised, but I thought you knew better?
[Read the article: What Howard Kurtz means by "media scrutiny"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]but has no approach of his own other than run away, run away!
When did Sean Hannity, Billo, and Mark Levin hijack your account? Hey, that approach sounds just like John McCain's perception of the Democrats approach! What a coward that Ron Paul is! He should be murdering those pesky brown people, not running away from them! Because those are the only two options! Bomb them and subsidize them or run away!
WERE DOOMED!! STOP IT!! STOP IT NOW WT!! I'M FUCKING SCARED ALREADY OK!

as opposed to riling up others and getting them to do nothing but give up?
[Read the article: What Howard Kurtz means by "media scrutiny"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Is to rile up others and get them to "smash the evil state" for them.
I know right? Thank goodness we have people like you and WT around to muddy the waters defending American Hegemony!
What do you recommend LWM? Use an anonymous handle (e.g. my initials) and comment in the blogs of famous people? Will that get them to "bend to my agenda"? So, if that is what I'm doing, then wtf is your excuse?
If either of them had any real conviction about what they're preaching they'd have blown off so many of their own fingers by now they wouldn't be able to sit on-line all day and type their anti-state screeds.
I practice the 10 commandments of gun safety. As opposed to sitting around online anonymously all day and defending the establishment and the status quo, and ignore what they want you to ignore? Shouldn't your fingers be sore as well? You know, in your defense of standing for nothing, following the shifting ideological winds of the "Democratic Leadership" like some migrating herd animal?
It's all about that Evil Rothbard, isn't it? Show us on the doll where Murray touched you, k?
